Waterdrop's tankless reverse osmosis system is one slick looking product. Too bad it has to hide under the sink.

Does your Waterdrop share the same outlet as the dishwasher? I only have two outlets (another is for the garbage disposal) and I believe RO system draws much less power than the dishwasher, which doesn’t run all the time. Inputs appreciated.

Hey Frank, thanks for watching the video! We've been really happy with the Waterdrop system. Our water has a significantly high level of quality similar to what we would get at the industrial RO systems at the grocery store. I actually just changed the CO filter for the first time in 6 months which is about the estimated average. And compared to how much we used to spend filling up 5 gallon jugs, the savings has been noticeable as well. Changing the filter was also really simple because of that front load design, just turn and twist. Took me a minute to pop it in. Then you just press a button to auto flush it and its done.

My sink outlet is also controlled by the garbage disposal switch, but it is very easy to fix, on the outlet, just cut off the metal piece in the middle that connects the two AC outputs, then connect another wire (hot) to the outlet that is disconnected due to the cut off connection, now you have the original output that is controlled by the switch, and the other that is always powered.

Given how tiny the amount of water a person drinks vs how much they need to use on other things, I don't think drainage rate really impacts the water bill.

Hi Rick, I've watched your video a few times now. Just installed our Waterdrop today. I was trying figure out where to put the RO faucet. Yours is where our dishwasher vent would go. Do you not have a dishwasher? We ended up buying a new faucet that only takes up one hole. Anyway, thanks for the video. It helped a lot. Tony B.

Hey Tony! We actually do have a dishwasher but the way it was rigged up didn't require the vent. My sink also didn't have that faucet hole, I had to drill it out manually. Congrats on your Waterdrop!

With the traditional 5 stage tank RO system the faucet usually slows the water down to a trickle. Does this have the same problem? I want to fill up a 5 gallon water jug to use with a water cooler so I'll be running it for a while.
@RunPlayBack

Since it's tankless it won't slow to a trickle but it'll take a little bit of time to fill up a 5 gallon water jug.

Wait til you try to replace the filters. Not so simple. I even used a wrench & can only get a quarter turn counter clockwise as per instructions. So it just sits. Less than a year old. Edit: Finally crawled under the sink, turned off the water to the unit, bled off the water by turning on the little filter til the water stopped. Then with no more backup pressure I was able to easily change the filters. Anyone frustrated trying to change the filters might want to try it too.

Are we able to share the outlet for this Waterdrop RO with the dishwasher (using a heavy duty outlet extender? I’m sure Waterdrop pulls so little power compared to dishwasher that it “shouldn’t” be an issue sharing the two appliances to one outlet. Your video shows something under the sink behind the garbage disposal (1:32 mark) where two plugs are connected to something (looks like a Bluetooth speaker lol) . Would appreciate if you share what that is?

@RunPlayBack
@RunPlayBack 4 жыл бұрын
@@jah5686 I'm unsure but I suppose it will depend on what minerals your town/city has in its tap water. According to the Waterdrop website for each filter description: RO Membrane Filter removes lead, arsenic, chromium, fluoride, radium - Carbon Filter removes chlorine odor and organics, Carbon Block Filter removes dirt, dust, sand, chlorine, colloids, rust, residual large particles, suspended matter.

I wouldn't recommend it. Just installed the Waterdrop RO Unit and I am very disappointed. My water has a TDS of 455-470 and my old 4 stage system reduced the TDS to about 18-23 TDS. I figured the Tankless system would be slightly worse but not as bad as the Waterdrop. My water went from 455 to 330. That is only a 125 reduction. I followed all the instructions and let it drain for 5 minutes and then let the system run for 30-40 minutes and 330 is was best it dropped to. I let it run some more and it jumped to 606 TDS and then back down to 404 and then 300 Something. That is totally unacceptable for a supposedly RO system which I believe this is not. I will be sending this thing back and get an updated regular 5 stage system that is half the price and actually works.

Thanks. I am in the UK and looking for such a built-in water filtration system but your comment has dampened my enthusiasm for this make and model, especially given the cost and installation work involved. Yet I want the convenience of not carting water around and messing about with mobile containers. Strange that all other comments are positive/neutral and also that the Like/Dislike figures are not showing for me to help judge opinion. Still , thanks to RunPlayBack for uploading.
