I use this method for a couple of years now. But I start watering every 12 hours in the hottest months of the year. The plants just can’t survive with a water once a day. Good tip BTW.

Watering a plant until it drains out the bottom will occur as a plant becomes root bound and until it is re-potted. The other thing not mentioned here is rain. Living in Florida, the outdoors is not a controlled environment. Well drained soil is much more necessary in a subtropical environment.
