Its resto-mod / rebuild time with this old GT Karakoram. My brother got inspired by my Timberline and asked if I could build him one smiliar, so I did.. I managed to find this sweet GT Karakoram that suited perfectly! Its from around 1995/96 and I converted it into a rigid 1x9 set up with mostly modern parts. He was really stoked how it turned out, let me know what you guys think!

THIS WAS MY BIKE!!!! So wow cool!!! I used to use it as a commuter in Auckland and so stuck on those mudguards, pack rack and upsidedown light. Ended up moving overseas in 2020 and sold it. Since then I've really gotten into bike restoration (done a few Hard Rocks, GTs and Giants) and always wondered what ended up happening to this beauty. The paint job was so clean and the frame size was unusually large for a 90s MTB. So glad to see what you've done! A really nice job, pretty much exactly how I'd have done it. Those Van grips are sexy!

What a great way to pass some time watching this awesome build while I'm smoking some BBQ on my grill on this Easter Sunday. The paint on that bike is looks so good, it probably didn't get much riding. Great job!

I can personally attest to throwing this baby around Woodhill, it just lived most of it's live inside so that's why it's in such good condition.

For the rear brake cable routing I'd use a spare v-brake noodle coupler, installing it backwards between your cable housing and the existing canti routing on the frame so it's not just wobbling there

You mean that cylinder piece that comes off the v brake noodle. I just tried it should work I think. Thanks now I can restomod my gt.

After spending 45 minutes cleaning my own road bike. It was really nice and just sit down for 20 minutes and watch a master at work. I especially liked the red and silver chrome accents which really make the bike pop. I'm hoping one day I could get enough skill, time, and money to build up my own single-speed bike similar to yours like this. It looks so bloody cool props to you man. Awesome work!

Masterful build as ever! I´ve always admired these old GT Karakorams. There are flexible V-brake pipes with which you maybe could just get away with the original cable routing. Or you could use cable grips (f.e. Jagwire guide cable grips) that make for a much cleaner look than zip ties and run a full housing. Might not work with the shape of the cable stops on that frame though ...

Love a 1x9 setup. Super simple, super cheap, easy to build, durable. If you remove your ego and get a smaller chainring you'll find the range and the jumps between cogs to be plenty

Hi, this movie is great. I renew similar one few year ago. If you want to guide rear brake cable not through metal ring at the and of frame, then use 1-2 cm of teflon insert from v-brake elbow guide. It should fit. Also you can stick it in to grommet. Maybe it not going to look amazing but still will cover the cabel.

On the rear brake cable try using a ferrule like on the brake noodle. Cable end will fit and the noodle end might fit over cable guide on the frame.

One of the best places to acquire a 1990's MTB frame is to venture near homeless camps as they often have a habit of stripping parts off of bikes and leaving the frames behind . I've found 3 over the past few months . Also keep a $10 bill on you if they want money as they're clueless about what an old bike is as they'd rather have $10 . One of the frames I found was just lying in a pile of homeless trash was a Barracuda A2E Hardtail Ultimate Superlight that I think is a 1995 , a little scuffed up but in overall VG condition .

Love it, I think it looks amazing. Only thing I'd do differently is the cranks, as I think they look too chunky compared to the rest, but that's just personal preference. Regarding the rear brake thing, do you reckon a ferrule would fit backwards over the little bit of angled routing?

If you have access to a 3D printer I would print a piece for the brake line. A piece that slots in the bike frame and then has a slot for the line, that way not only looks more clean but you avoid scratching the frame or snapping the cable.

I was instantly thinking of heatshrink tubing for the rear brake routing. Can get it at Bunnings in Australia. It’s in the electrical section near the zip ties. Seems like you are in Australia? I’m in Kiama, NSW. Take care and siiiiiick build!!

After about 3 years the last Keurig stopped working kzfaq.infoUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf initially was able to unblock, however eventually we couldn't fix. That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.

Frame size question: In these 90's mountain bikes, I ride 18~19" frame size. In local classified ad, I see a XL 21" frame 90's bike. Clearly too big for me and I want to swap stem/handlebar like you have in the video. Does this mean I should be able to ride a larger 21" frame bike? or no due to handlebar being wider?
