As a person with social anxiety I can say this is a perfect representation of, well, how someone (me at least) would feel on a daily basis

My best friend did this for our schools talent show.. she rocked it! She did it because it described how we were at school, ignored and nobody waved back at us

at the "when you're falling in a forest, and there's nobody around, do you ever really crash or even make a sound?" you could get out 3 meanings (without watching an animation) 1. nothing, just what it is, a 'dumb' question, since you obviously make a sound 2. Evan failing to kill himself and breaking his arm because of a failed attempt 3. you're drowning in problems but nobody ever realizes, even through you give out so many clues about needing somebody to see there might be even more to be honest

So I know this is old now, but I just want you to know how amazing this is and what I did with it. I'm a 10th grade teacher who actually teaches Dear Evan Hansen as a text! And since we cant watch the musical, I showed my students this and it really helped them understand the ideas of the song and visualize it in the context of the play. So thank you for that!

"and no one tells you where you went wrong" hits hard and no one talks about it. it's like when everything is falling apart and you don't know what you did to mess it all up, you just know that you did something bad. another way to put it is that when evan talks to people it's almost impossible for the other person to hear him clearly, but when evan was still growing up he probably questioned what was he doing wrong. man i love this song

this is so good -your pause at the height of the song, oh my gosh it added so much to your character development and just the emotion of it all -at the end, when it was a mirror, I was so hoping that's what you were doing, and it kinda resonates throughout the whole show and making up new people and experiences, but at the end of it all, it was just himself -the step out of the sun parts were amazing honestly, like you depicted the whole trying, and it going horribly so well -your colors, so good, purple and yellow, my favorites -just overall I am in love with this

My idol, which is my classmate, Chadwik, sung this today in choir. That kid is absolutely immaculate. Everyone crowded around him and he got the loudest standing ovation I've ever heard, it wasn't even a big group of people. He has the best singing voice I've ever heard in my life. It's so hard to describe how he is, not just his singing but him in general. I could try for days to describe him but I could never do it right. You would only understand if you've met him. But Chadwik, if you see this I really wanted to give you about 50 complements on your singing today so let me just say, that was some absolutely amazing singing, and if I had to I would gladly only listen to your singing for the rest of my life.

Oh my gosh this was sad- I really need to buy this book since I can't watch the musical, but really this was so good! A little piece of my heart broke when I thought someone was waving at Evan at the end but it was just a mirror/window- But keep doing these, this was really good and I like all the things you did with this!

(Summary below for people not wanting to read this paragraph) This animatic starts kinda literal with Evan actually tapping the glass but then it gets to how Evan would feel in all of this. The part where he sings "Will I ever make a sound?" (when he tries to catch the ghost like Evan) it shows how he's running through all the things happening to him and how he feels. Also, with the "tap, tap, tapping on the glass" instead of ACTUALLY tapping this time (well those times) it features the emotions he's going through. All of them rushing into a blur as it would feel. He feels like a mess, this is KIND OF his call to action song where it's kind of like "Ok Evan, you aren't doing *anything* so far, you need to go somewhere" (in a self-pep talk way). This animatic shows all this and shows his emotions and how his life feels like a mess. You did an amazing job *illustrating* the point (Get it? ehhhh...?). You did an amazing job showing how Evan was feeling in this song. Great job :) (if the artist is reading this I hope you read the paragraph)

Holy fuck, this musical has changed me, ive never related to a musical more. I found this last night and I never realised how beautifully tragic it is. The music is just amazing and damn them lyrics. This animatic made ot fucking epic.
