Btw I'm a chemical engineer and you did a great job explaining hard water! It's true that the hardness of your water will vary by region, and it's because the source of water varies by region. If most of your water comes from groundwater/aquifers/springs/wells, you'll have harder water because it picks up calcium and magnesium as it filters through the ground. River/lake water is soft water because it doesn't have as much contact with soil

Yeah, wavy girls have oilier hair, so we need to use sulfates, shampoo, and wash multiple times a week. So you are definitely not the only wavy girl that does that.
@quantumwombat3 жыл бұрын
Ooohh yeah the multiples textures thing is a big one. I have legit spirals growing at the sides of my neck right next to almost-straight pieces at the back of my neck. CGM had me convinced that my not-curly pieces were "just damaged" (barf). Spoiler alert, skipping sulfates and silicones did not magically transform my hair. This is how my hair has always been, and it's how it will always be unless my hormones decide to switch it up

exactlyyyyy! So glad we came to terms with our different textures🤍🤍 I definitely have a love/hate relationship with the CGM because of things like these.

Omg thank youuuuu for the part about multi-textured hair!! I have the same type of hair as the girl you were showing on IG, where the underneath/lower layers are either like 2a or straight, the middle layers are wavy, and the top layers and bangs are either like 3a-3b ringlets or 2c depending on the hair products I use. Oh and the back of my hair is like 2a. I am sooo jealous of your beautiful, even textured waves/curls!! I can't get over them. And I just wonder what is wrong with my hair because I have fine, low porosity hair just like you, but it's soo dry except at the roots and so fine that if I use any hair products with protein, my hair instantly becomes protein overloaded, feels like straw, and loses all its curl/looks dull and straight. The same thing happens if I refresh my hair at all because it gets build-up so easily that I basically have to do a full wash day every day. Does this happen to anyone else?
@NemesisMarie2 жыл бұрын
Omg🤭 ok babes, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your multitextured hair❤️ Here are a couple of things that came to mind while reading this: -Have you been clarifying your hair? Since you mentioned that buildup is something you struggle with, you should be clarifying at least once a month. -You mentioned your hair doesn’t respond very well to protein, AND that it feels very dry on the ends, so have you been deep conditioning at least once every two weeks or so? If not, consider it❤️ - Lastly, no need to be jealous of my hair, it doesn’t look perfect all the time lol, I also have certain sections that look waaaay less defined or just have a different pattern than the rest of my hair. I feel like once you get a handle on your protein/moisture balance, and include some clarifying in your routine, you’ll start embracing your multitexturedness ❤️

I've been trying to embrace my naturally wavy hair for a few months now and really struggle to figure out what my hair type is, what porosity it is, if it's lacking moisture or protein etc.. I've had several okay hair days.. but mostly my waves are very stringy and I can't seem to get them to clump nicely or look soft and fluffy, they just seem to go stringy, then Frizzy, then a bit flat. When I started they seemed to hold their shape a bit more. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I found cutting out silicones made my hair SO frizzy, but now my hair doesn't seem to keep it's definition as much. My hair just ends up looking like a bit of a frizzy ratty mess by the end of the day. Any advice at all please?! My hair is 2a-2c depending on the day it seems! I'm starting to lose hope! 🥺
@NemesisMarie3 жыл бұрын
Hi lovely! Okay so about figuring out your porosity, I explained the easiest method on my first “Wavy Hair Golden Rules” video, I hope that helps❤️ if your hair is feeling stringy and like it’s not clumping the way it used to, you can definitely try a protein treatment to give your hair a boost of strength. And also, if you need to add a product with silicone in it to help control the frizz, DO IT!! Just remember to clarify your hair every once in a while to make sure you’re not accumulating silicone build-up. I really hope that helps, queen, don’t loose hope!

My hair retains water for a long time (If I wash my hair before I go to bed, it will be damp/wet until the next night) but when I get out of the shower to style it, it feels frizzy/dry and not slippery/smooth at all??? Does anyone have an explanation for this?
@quantumwombat3 жыл бұрын
My hair is like this too! I think this is normal though, hair always feels kinda sticky when it's between wet and dry. You could try styling in the shower to keep your hair soaking wet while styling. Or you could try rinsing out your conditioner a little bit less to keep some slip in there
@isabelleparent89703 жыл бұрын
@@quantumwombat Thanks for the advice!
@NemesisMarie3 жыл бұрын
Hi Isabelle! This also happens to me when I don’t style my hair with enough moisture. Meaning, I wasn’t using a leave-in condish or deep conditioning 🤦🏽♀️ And was trying to style my hair without enough water. So definitely what @quantumwombat said makes sense, either style in the shower, or make sure your hair is dripping wet when styling 😊👏🏽 And when you’re done applying products, you can squish out some of the water (GENTLY) with a t-shirt or microfiber towel. I rlly hope this helps❤️❤️

@NemesisMarie3 жыл бұрын
Hmm…yeah, I think you’re gonna have to do some experimenting. Switch the styling products and see if there is any change on the hair loss. Though from what I’ve experienced, and seen, shampoos are the more likely product to cause shedding, since we apply it directly on our scalp. Maybe consider switching them up, if you notice the shedding continues after not using the gel and mousse for a while.

This was the video I've been needing to see girl!!!! I'm so happy I found your channel bc you are the first wavy girl I've come across with a very similar texture as me and you have helped me out tremendously with my wavy hair journey! You're also entertaining AF and luv ur humor! Thank you so much bc this was very informative! At one point I feel like I had protein/moisture overload since I use to follow the curly girl method. Long story short, realized I needed to find someone who had a similar pattern to mine and I came across you! I was using curly girl products were to thick for my hair and weighed it down (Shea moisture leave in which has a grip of protein lol & the pattern shampoo/condit). NOW I use the blueberry bliss leave in, not ur mothers curl defining cream, and Aussie gel you recommended and it is much lighter and my waves look so much better! I've been using this routine for about 2 months now. However, I'm kinda confused with what state my hair is in bc I've notice my hair has been having breakage and my waves aren't as clumped as they use to. I just got a haircut last month ):
