Reason I don’t have Notre dame at 2 is simple because they a offensive heavy team when they played SC they was able to put up 70+ points but they gave up 100 points to them if they defense is good they move from 5th to 3rd into my rankings I got SC usc UConn Texas and Notre Dame

I would be really surprised if Aces opted for old heads vs these 2 rookies. The rookies are killing it in preseason games. Plus, Kate Martin is a utility player and knows how help stars shine even brighter. The fact that Becky had her practicing with A'ja playing 3 on 3, feeding her passes, tells me A LOT. Faire may be a bucket, but is that what the team really needs? Idk, but I can't imagine they would waive either one. Especially if they don't need to.

Most teams have 5 starters that play most of the game. We really are a 9 member team. We might start the same 5 but can and do change up players right away based on how they are playing and the type of player we need. This way there is no bad feelings about not starting. It’s more about the minutes we need from a player. This might change from game to game. That’s what we should focus on, not who’s starting and who is not. Their minutes would change based on how they are playing during a specific game.

I remember so many people had their doubts about South Carolina even you Quita lol we tried to tell y’all that losing the freshies didn’t mean anything when you have a coach like Staley lol but it’s all love.

To be a top 5 team you do need a one, two punch. Whether it be a guard and centre, or 2 guards. All the teams mentioned have that. It will be fun to see what happens next year.

With UConn I do think they can win it all but they MUST stay healthy. If you have Paige, Shade, Azzi all healthy that is 3 legit knockdown shooters and Chen and KK are both fairly good shooters at about 32% from 3pt. Strong is appears to be a good shooter. El Alfy shot over 27% from 3pt in the World Cup and over 50% from 3pt in the Africa cup (composite was 11/31 35.4%) ..Brady's shot is inconsistent but smooth and shows promise. They might need to go all 2018 GS Warriors style and bomb away to win but they have the players and shooters if healthy. In fact if all healthy with Griffin back who has been a defensive monster when on the floor to augment their always solid defense they might finally be able to press teams. Uconn has not been able to press much in the past 2 years as foul trouble is in issue with no bench . But there were moments this year when they just clamped down teams, not having Nika will hurt some but Nika could not be aggressive once Griffin went down and they still had solid defense. (In the Big East Tourney look at what they did to Marquette in the 4th qtr and GW in the 1st qtr : without Edwards they did not allow a basket for 19 min of game time.). The point is to win they can have no season ending or prolonged inquires to their top 7 players and their shooters cannot have too many off nights. But if you have Paige and Azzi get hot during a tournament with solid shooting from a few others like Shade, Chen, KK, or maybe Ducharme (if she can get healthy) watch out it might be raining threes in Storrs. They will likely lack depth and impact in the post, but Health is the key to dominating from the Guard positions..

The only thing I agree with is South Carolina being # 1, the rest is a toss up for the other 4 spots.

Princeton, coached by a former Uconn player runs basically the same system. Coach Berube is 100-17 (85.5%) at Princeton in 2019/20 her teams only loss was 77-75 to Iowa in overtime. 2020/21 No season in Ivy, in her teams other 16 losses at Princeton over 3 years only 3 were to Ivy league teams , heck this year they lost to #3 UCLA by 3pts, Beat #22 Oklahoma, lost to then #21 Indiana, lost to Rhode Island by 2pts and Columbia by 2pts, then in the tourney lost to 8th seed West Virginia. I think in a few years whenever Geno does decide to retire Uconn will go hard after Carla Berube to replace him. She is just 48 and if you include her time at Tufts she already has a record of 484-113 (.811).

I told y'all that Iowa is just a one hit wonder they are not on anyone early rankings Lisa bluder job will be questioned in a few more years she is gonna have to work the transfer portal in able to compete i know she got the pt guard from I forget where I like her game I even think shes more versatile than Clark but they need more to compete in the big ten especially with USC coming in

On paper USC is a juggernaut they will be really good. But SC on paper was supposed to fall off, so paper don't mean much but good conversation. But if USC develops chemistry and is healthy they will be scary. ( I feel similar about ND, the Liza Karlen pickup I think is bigger than people know for toughness and depth to add to a strong group with several vets.)

My way too early top 5 NCCAW: 1. University of South Carolina (talent + continuity and the best coach in the country) 2. USC (potentially the most top end talent with Watkins, Iriafen, TVO and the best freshman class but may need time to gel). 3. UConn (lots of experience and talent but rotations could be complex to navigate and health will be key). 4. Notre Dame (talented but two great point guards will have to figure out how to play together and integrate key new pieces). 5. University of Oklahoma (experience plus Reagan Beers should make them a force) or Texas (return of Rori Harmon + Madison Booker’s sophomore campaign & the addition of Laila Phelia will be interesting but the loss of several bigs raises questions)

I’m expecting Iowa State to be really good next season. ESPN has them at 25. I think that’s a bit too low.

In the IVY even if you just graduate early in 3 years your not allowed to play. The IVY shut down during CVD19 so almost all the seniors this year have only played 3 seasons.

Way too early to tell..., but South Carolina is #1.

FYI shout out to Azzi Fudd who graduated in just 3 years! You know I expect them both to go pro next year, but technically due to Azzi getting a medical and Paige having a COVID year and medical they both technically have 2 years of eligibility left LOL.

The only X-factor for UConn is Aubrey Griffin and she probably will not touch the court well past January of 2025.
