Dec 1966: I was living in Nashville, three blocks from the Ryman Auditorium. For 1.50 admission you could see up close and personal the country music greats of the day. When I first walked in, Connie Smith was belting out "Once A Day) on her tip toes. Jim Ed Brown flirting with anything in skirts. Kenny Price, Minnie Pearl are the others that I remember from that night. Waylon had not made the Opry yet. KZfaq is a great memory boost. Jerry in LA

What a difference 10 years makes the Waylon in 66 in way diffrent than the Waylon in 76 either Way-lon is great in any year or phase of his career we miss ya hoss

back in i think 1965 my buddy and used to request this on the radio from jennie Jameson in st. louis, on call in request line she always said watch this kid he's cumin out of bakersfield and i think he's gonna be big, we loved "time to bum again" think it may have been waylons first? great post thanks

@arpee915 waylone was a short guy, man, he stood 5' 2" in his cowboy boots but he had a hart of gold and in statue he was bigger than most 6' guys. GOD BLESS USA - Dale

What is wierd is that 'bumming' is a UK expression for homosexual activity so it is kinds wierd to hear waylon songing 'its time to bum again'. I never heard that waylon was gay though. can anyone confirm this? thanks man. GOD BLESS USA - Dale
