I think they were really pushing for that in the marketing, cause they never showed off Octavius until the game was out. It was a fun surprise but after the E3 Sinister Six trailer I think a lot of people started guessing that either he or Green Goblin would be in the game

I partially agree, but not fully. I personally think the game does a great job of making you feel like Spider-Man, but it just isn’t as good as the arkham series. The combat isn’t there, the villains aren’t as present, and the story isn’t as engaging.

It’s in the game now lol This game actually has some pretty clutch suits as of date. Can’t wait for the next installment!

Hmmm but the main story missions and gameplay is pretty damn good. However, I agree, hopefully they’ll make the side content better in the next one.

Shay Hickman Not only the side content but they should also remove mj missions completely they’re ok the first time but every time I replayed the game her missions were so painful to go through again and again and the reason why I replay the game a lot was because I always try new suits and that’s an enough reason for me to replay the game

MHMD Well they could make them more than just stealth missions. Give MJ the power to do take downs and whatnot. I liked the MJ and Miles missions but they were all the same.

Shay Hickman I’d rather they just cancel her missions we don’t need to play as a character other than peter and miles plus I’m sure if you replayed the game you wouldn’t really like her missions at all you would just want to skip all of them

She's been leading an elite task force in a war for liberty in her homeland for God knows how many years, looks like she's got maybe 10 years age wise on Peter and her entire life is based around combat and fighting technique? She's about as "normal" as Peter himself. It's kinda like saying Taskmaster shouldn't be able to touch Spider-Man, she's trained her entire life just to service in her own homeland

I dunno, fighting style wise I think she's probably on par with Captain America who I also think would put up a good fight against Spidey. They actually have some pretty similar experiences too. What I WILL agree with is that her motivations are all over the place and the way she hates Spider-Man then becomes his best friends then hates him again, all that-it's just bad writing and it could have been handled way better

That actually brings up a really interesting idea that I wish I had tackled more int he video. It lends to the depth I think the writing has. As a first point, MJ was actually doing just fine on her own. She had a guy pull a gun on her sure, but she also got him to lower his defenses and start talking. She was using her abilities and skills to solve a problem and help find a way to end the current conflict, which is all Peter ever does, it just looks different when he does it for obvious reasons. Had Spider-Man not shown up in that moment, everything would have gone just fine, she would have gotten the information she needed and if the previous section proved anything it's that she could sneak out on her own just fine and maybe even could have gotten Standish out with her. She lives in a world full of superheroes who put themselves in danger to do the right thing every day so given her desire to help others and self-sufficient attitude, her actions here make perfect sense. Her reaction to Peter was extreme, but you have to understand where she's coming from. Not everything she says in anger at that moment is 100% how she feels, kind of like all of us will say things that are an exaggerated view of how we really feel when we're angry or scared. Mary Jane was doing her job in the way she felt was best, just like Spidey always does. She took on too much at once. Like Spidey always does. Being in a relationship with him probably drove her crazy because Peter feels such an extreme sense of responsibility for everyone and everything and MJ began to feel like being around him meant she couldn't do anything for herself. If you can't empathize with that than clearly you haven't been in a power-struggle relationship. And finally, MJ apologized not only for snapping at him, but also her entire mentality she had toward their relationship. Peter apologized too, knowing that it really wasn't all his fault, but he could still work harder at protecting her while still respecting that she knew what she was getting herself into and that she was willing to take responsibility for the actions that she takes just like he does. He wasn't looking at it from her perspective, he wasn't trying to understand where she was coming from but as soon as he does, he sees that the two of them are on the same wavelength. What it really comes down to is that maybe people don't talk about it cause they don't feel that way about her like you do. I think this is a really realistic depiction of how people interact, act and feel. It doesn't always come from a rational place, especially not in the heat of the moment, but Peter and MJ were both able to take a look at themselves, see where they were falling short, talk it out, and come to an understanding. That's not unlikable, that's real character development.

@@Wayneisboss I think you missed the point of my comment, it wasn't a critique of their relationship or the writing I was pointing out how you said "not an unfounded complaint" which to me implies that she had justifiable reasons to get upset here but that just isn't true. I didn't have to say that I think MJ is unlikable that wasn't really necessary to the comment and is based on more than that one interaction. So. MJ gets mad at Pete and the reasons in the game are, A. He doesn't trust her B. He is over protective, I'm saying MJ being mad here at this point of the game is completely unjustifiable because up to that point there has not been any gameplay or dialogue to show that Pete does indeed not trust MJ or is to over protective and if her outburst is based on their history together then Insomniac needed to make that clearer because we just don't know what their relationship was like before the game started because we are not told anything about it except that it ended because MJ was feeling Pete was to over bearing even though there is no evidence to back that up.

EDIT: Also while yes as the Player we know MJ is doing just fine in the Sable Camp on her own, Peter doesn't know that and arrives to find her with a gun pointed at her face so he intervenes.

@@raonhaneakweks5771 I dunno, him showing up was still the only thing that kept her plan from working and he really was the reason that whole interaction went south. Like I said, her comment was exaggerated because of the heat of the moment but I still don't think it was unfounded because he still was the instigating factor that kept her from doing what she went there to do. I just think there's a lot of factors to consider there. We do definitely see Peter make a lot of remarks that make it sound like he doesn't want her involved in anything cause he's afraid she'll get hurt. He's coming from the right place, but there's still no part of him that comes off like he actually does trust her to take care of herself or let her make her own choices when it comes to the overhanging threat. There's even moments when he scolds her like she's a child. He's pretty dismissive of even the thought of her helping and while it makes sense to us and to him, if we put ourselves in Mary Jane's shoes for a moment it becomes incredibly easy to see why she feels the way she does. Maybe that's part of the reason Insomniac had us play as her, so we could see that while she can't do whatever a spider can, she's still capable and knows how to take care of herself. That's why she's so frustrated and feels like Peter is being overprotective, because she knows she has what it takes and knows what she can handle, but Peter acts like she's being unreasonable any time she tries to help out in any hands-on way.

Also man, sorry if any of my comments came off as condescending or anything like that, I have a tendency to overdo it when it comes to this sort of thing. I guess the easiest way I can say it is that I've been in MJ's position before and I get where she's coming from. Probably the most simple way to put it
