There are 3 versions of "Regular": 2 by NCT (Korean & English ver) and 1 by WayV (Chinese obviously). What's awesome is that ALL 3 versions actually have different lyrics that essentially convey 3 different point of views of the same message. The Korean version talks about their hard work and grind for success, working on the "regular". The English version talks about their wealth and riches as a result of that hard work, earning money on the "regular". WayV's version talks about wanting to go even further beyond success and money, it's about their dreams being higher and higher on the "regular". It also touches on the meaning of WayV's name in Chinese which is basically "powerful gods", they're saying they want to be looked at as such. I love this song so much. This is probably the most creative thing done with a song and I'll forever be sad that SM didn't give Dream and now Wish their own versions of the song AND that we have never once gotten 127 and WayV to perform it together smh The member whose dance you liked and had it paused on for so long was Ten btw He can be a bit of a chameleon when he changes his styling.

You are correct, this is the Mandarin version of Regular, which 127 originally released in English and then Korean. Because of this I think the fandom low key considers Take Off to be WayV’s debut 😂 but Regular is a bop no matter what the language! It’s actually very interesting to watch the dance practices of both the groups. The choreo is mostly the same but they’re pulled off with completely different vibes, so fascinating.

NCT has three versions of 'Regular'. The first one is NCT 127's English version. Then, they have the Korean version, which does not have any MV. Finally, there's WayV's Chinese version. I like this version best overall, in terms of how smooth it sounds in Chinese, and the MV is great. & Ofcourse bcz of these sexy dudes 🤣! Ten got no chill! Edit: Sorry, my bad. The Korean version has a music video.

Although WayV's "Regular" uses the same title and beat -- and even a few of the same words and lines -- as NCT-127's Korean and English versions of the song, they aren't really the same song. WayV's version sounds different, not only because it's different members and a different language, but it has a different message as well. (Hence the English line in the song that says, "We are not the same ...") If you look up the English translation of the Korean and Mandarin versions of "Regular" and compare them to the English version, you will see that all 3 songs are talking about different things. That is what makes this song special. "Regular" is on NCT-127's Regular/Irregular album, so the Korean and English versions are supposed to be like night and day. The English version is about not being satisfied until they possess all the riches and fame, which is what appeals to an American/Western audience. Where the Korean version is about working hard to become your best self and not being happy until you have done all you can to gain the respect and love of your fans, which is what appeals more to a Korean audience. The Chinese version of the song also has different lyrics. The MV for WayV's version of "Regular" is about dominating in the technology realm and that is why you see them as stock traders in the stock market and at one point they are literally inside a computer, etc. It's all about dominating in the business world. It's really interesting to see how 3 songs can be created in 3 different languages using the same beat and feel, and yet have completely different messages. It just goes to show how diverse the music industry is and yet still so similar. :D Another reason why WayV's MV is so different from the Korean and English version is because they are the Chinese sub-unit and at that time they couldn't have anything that might connect them to NCT or make it look like they were working with a Korean company if they wanted to promote in China. Because of the political issues between Korea and China, they had to appear as if they were a Chinese group and were separate from anything to do with SM in order for the Chinese government to allow them to appear on Chinese programs, etc. and to promote themselves and their album in the country. Technically WayV debuted in January 2019 with the Mandarin version of "Regular." However, "Take Off," which came out in April 2019, is considered their official debut song because it was their first release that was all theirs.

We WayV fans (Wayzenni) are forever bitter that SM gave WayV a hand-me-down song for their debut--- even WayV has talked about "Take Off" in the context of being their debut song instead. I do prefer WayV's version of regular so there's that though.

Technically "Regular" was supposed to be Wayv's debut song but their debut got delayed so SM gave the song to 127 to release as a prelude to their then US tour. However, language is not the only difference as each song has different lyrics with different messages.

is it just me but more often than not for exo/nct chinese versions of songs you feel the songs a lot more different. In some cases the chinese versions lyrically (when translated of course) and vocally sound better. MAMA for exo has a different energy and swagger in chinese compared to korean. Idk it could just be me...

If I remember correctly this version of REGULAR was more like a pre-debut for WAYV and their song TAKE OFF was their official debut.

Instead of reacting to 7th Sense first you did Baggy Jeans & now isntead of NCT 127's Regular English or Korean version you did WayV's. Nothing wrong with that I just think it's funny because you won't get the shock factor of it all like how Winwin's last comeback with 127 was Regular just for him to debut with Regular shortly after in WayV so he was part of all 3 versions but they mean something different. It would've been ironic if y'all reacted to Volcano first instead of Boss lol since it's Boss 2.0 with the same line up & everything. Two of them are full Korean Sion the leader & Jaehee the main vocal are Korean still they learned Japanese & fit right on so it doesn't change the concept of them being a Japanese unit. So yes many of us still tought Mark was going to be a part of WayV. Their's probably alot plans that were changed along the way as things happen like how Dream was actually supposed to debut first before 127 but they ended up debuting 3rd. Or how their's also rumors of Ten who was actually supposed to debut with 127 which is why he had a lot of chemistry & early on content with members such as Mark, Jaehyun, Taeyong... but he got injured & 127 debuted so Ten ended up doing solo work instead until WayV debuted. Also how Renjun & Chenle were supposed to be moved to WayV after they turned 18 & graduated Dream to be with the rest of the Chinese members.

Maybe because at the time I wasn't as into 127's music I was like ehh ok we will listen to the new subunit's version cause with previous Chinese versions of SM songs I did really like. But I fell in love with WayV's version. Each version has a different vibe due to lyrics being a bit different but I think also combined with WayV's distinct choreo vibes as well just everything drew me in more. Nowadays I have enjoyed the KR and ENG versions more. Though I think a lot of people like to consider Take Off as WayV's real debut, Regular is a banger and their version is still my favorite.
