I remember one night back in 1985 in Fort Wayne Indiana I saw Robin in a hotel bar room..I was just driving thru town and I saw a sign in front of this hotel that said Robin Trower tonight at 8pm..I couldn't believe it... I looked at my clock in my Vega and it read 7:30pm...I turned my Vega around and went in to the hotel bar grabbed a cold one and sat down and began to be blown away...I was 24 years old and had been playing the guitar since I was 11..it was a night I will never forget...Robin was really on that night...🎸🎸🎸

Robin Trower's career is more than four decades long. Already in the early sixties he was considered one of the most virtuoso guitarists of the then flourishing London club scene. He achieved worldwide success a little later with Procol Harum. But it was only after Trower left Procol Harum in 1972 and performed under his own name that his bluesy-psychedelic playing became an unmistakable trademark. He was sometimes dubbed "the white Hendrix" - which he didn't care about from the heart. In the last three decades he recorded numerous albums, was on tour almost non-stop and also managed to write and produce various film music. The guitar brand Fender honored Trower by launching a Trower Signature model for the 50th anniversary of the Stratocaster.

We listened to Procal Harum late 60's. Then "Bridge of Sighs" came out. I saw this incredible musician at Winterland in 1975 with the original Journey playing before him. It was such magic, being in the same room with this vibration, overwhelming. I saw Robin at this little club in a small shopping area at the bottom of Redwood Rd. in Oakland, "the Hill". It was like a dream- is that really Robin up there (!) Music is so powerful, it makes life a blessing. Robin Trower 🕉 the master.

@@thorstenriedel3152 Moin! Ja, volle Zustimmung. Außer, was Malmsteen angeht, sorry. Been listening to Trower for over forty years he’s in my opinion THE most underrated guitarist in history. Never a big singles guy probably had something to do with it. My little brother who grew up in the 80s 90s went to see him in the UK few years ago on my recommendation having never heard him before. He said after he just burst into tears during the gig it was THAT GOOD. He’s now one of Robin’s biggest fans 🤣 has everything .

I loved Trower since my teen years. the 70's and long after those days, trusty Trower followers would always talk now and then about him, and the main word on the street was.." why don't more people know about Robin Trower man?, he is extraordinary." / Opportunities in Portland Or, I never missed one of his shows back in the 90's particularly when I was living there, and always a rare experience to see him play along with the somewhat small Venues he did, made it all the better. And he ain't lost a 'lick'

I still remember the day the "Bridge Of Sighs" album came out in 1974 and with good friends, all toked up, sitting around in our bean bag chairs and listening to some new music on our Kenwood Quadraphonic Stereo with 4 huge Infinity speakers in the 4 corners of the living room. It's still so easy to remember, even now, how the unbelievably righteous sounds went round and round at a very loud volume and seriously blew everybody's minds! I've always thought that the original studio version of the "Bridge of Sighs" track should've been theme music for the 1st Conan movie. It's fantastic to still be able to see, and hear, a major rock band originally from the 70s that's not an embarrassment to their former selves. I mean, really...so many of those long-time, 3 or 4 hits bands with most still living members now having ridiculous looking overly long hair, all tatted up, wearing bi-focals, with skinny chicken legs, no ass, and a big fat belly! Sad... The desperation of some of those dudes to still feel relevant or to maybe just get a paycheck from having lived a life without acquiring some kind of marketable job skills along the way or making bad financial decisions over the years, etc., etc., etc., it's really kinda sad, in a way!

Robin's a Master Guitarist, possibly the best Stratocaster tone ever, and his phrasing and control is unparalleled. Saw him Live twice, with Jack Bruce and Gary Husband, and with his own band. Brilliant on both occasions. Literally made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up first solo he hit. Davy Pattison's a perfect fit for these songs. R.I.P James Dewar. 🎸🎶🎵👌

@Maxine McKenzie, I have been fortunate enough to have seen him perhaps 6 times incl the show he did with JB, mostly superb, and, barring my late fathers' illness whenever he was touring nearby, it would have been at least another 2 perhaps 3 and of course C19 for his Nov show last year here in London. I loved James' vocals but also really liked Davey's as well: a huge disappointment for me is that Robin seems to ignore the catalogue of songs that Davey did in the late 80's and early 90's which have some of my favourites and that they didn't tour the UK during that time afaik. I just LOVE RT's solos, for me they take me on a journey, they are not just a random collection of notes. A true musician.

JD! I saw RT back in the late 70's w/ James. The venue was very small. I remember the seats were padded and we literally melted into the music. Especially in those long slow riff's like Spellbound and Bridge of Sighs. Riff's that simply take you away. Kids today have no idea what real music is.

INCREDIBLY WELL PLAYED THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS.. WITNESSED ROBIN TROWER ON MANY OCCASIONS BEGINNING WAY BACK IN 1974 LAST TIME SEEN IN PERSON IN 19 83... FAVORED ALBUMS ARE.. TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY, BRIDGE OF SIGHS, IN A LITTLE TREASURE CALLED IN CITY DREAMS... TROWERS INSTRUMENTAL GUITARS SOUND STRAIGHT OUT OF THE MID-60S .. MET WITH ROBIN TROWER AND WORKED WITH HIM FOR TWO YEARS DURING THE BRIDGE OF SIGHS TOURS IN THE US... MOST LISTENED-TO BRIDGE OF SIGHS THE SONG FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.. AND BEFORE THEY KNEW WHO IT WAS PLAYING.. THEY WOULD SWEAR IT WAS A HENDRIX CREATION., ROBIN WAS AND IS FAIRLY UNIQUE IN SO MANY WAYS.. DURING THE BRIDGE OF SIGHS TOUR IN THE UNITED STATES HE WOULD ALWAYS PLAY INDOORS TOO SMALL INTIMATE CROWDS WITH A FEW EXCEPTIONS. AND ALWAYS MADE THE OCCASION A GRAND PARTY OF EXPERIENCED MIND IN BENDERS..

WHAT a career this man has had...ive loved him since Procol Harum, in 68- a little before my time but i caught up quickly, and up to THIS remarkable performance and beyond. James Dewar was ALWAYS a BIG part of the appeal to me... among THE most soulful white singers in the history of rock music- right up there with Paul Rodgers, Steve Marriott, Greg Allman. ..and there are some others im forgetting i know... Greg Ridley was right up there too...AND he played bass excellent as well. and its HARD to play bass and sing. I've done it. Quite the compliment to Davey here that HE sounds EXACTLY like Mr.Dewar.. but its a compliment to James that Robin had to find an EXCELLENT bassist to take up the slack...James did TWO jobs and KILLED it for so many years. both men here are doing a FINE job.,I LOVE it...even the songs i hadnt heard before. I lost track after 'Long Misty Days' and 'In City Dreams' ' 'Please Tell Me' is as good as ANY of the old classics... I hope Robin is STILL playing somewhere....he would be close to 80 now i suppose. It is a great testament to HIS strength and integrity to continue in the world of rock music for 40 or 50 years....as SO many of his contemporaries have passed along the journey. Caught up in the traps of stardom....Robin somehow managed to avoid.... Good for HIM and God Bless-
