@@jacquelinebl6 Most Africans are cannibalizing the Caribbean for Adsense money. After they sold my forefathers into slavery for rum and other stuff. If the Caribbean forget their history, these same people will enslave them again. The thing that bothers me if the fact that they feel so entitled to meet head of states and want to be likened to Marcus Garvey just by the color of their skin. All skin folks are not Kin folks. They are arrogant narcissistic and boldface. Any of them mentioned an apology for slavery. Never the know it but never apologize and I resent them for the sufferings that my forefathers went through, so today they just come to bask in our glory that we fought for.

It doesn't make sense that they are private beaches in Jamaica. The Jamaican government need to pass a law making all beaches public. In Barbados all beaches are public and businesses can not block access to the public or charge any fees to use the beach. The beaches must be free for the Jamaican people to enjoy.

People pays a small fee for the up keep of the beach , plus for the people to get clean toilets with toilet paper to use etc. No hotels own the beach, you can walk on it, but not go onto their compound or uses their beach chairs etc, and whatever they put on the beach for their guests . And there are public beaches in Jamaica that don't charge any fees.
@tricia7016
@tricia7016 19 күн бұрын
The fee is for the maintenance and upkeep of the beach including to pay lifeguards. Check out the free beaches and they are littered with plastic containers, seaweed, and trash. Some People have no civic pride, they do not clean up after themselves. Yet they would fight to get into the beaches where they have to pay for free, and they blame everyone, including the government for not allowing them to access all beaches freely. Some hotels develop and maintain the beaches for their guests to enjoy. When they allow the public in there are those who harass the tourists and are constantly pushing items they are selling on them, including marijuana. Most tourists just want to relax and enjoy the beach they paid for their vacation and it is unfair to them when they are constantly being harassed when on vacation. There are endless coastline in Jamaica where people can go to swim and enjoy the beach, they do not need to be on the resorts jostling the tourists for the beaches. Jamaica relies heavily on tourism for survival, so allowing access to a few beaches to the resorts without bombardment of locals is a small sacrifice to pay for the huge benefits gained by the country. Some people inflate the false narrative about locals not having access to the beaches to score political points. Most of the beaches in Jamaica the locals have free access,
@sandranorton53
@sandranorton53 18 күн бұрын
@@tricia7016 other islands have free beaches and they're cleaned up. The government is responsible for cleaning public spaces so charging the public doesn't make sense for that. As an outsider looking in it seems they just don't want poor locals to be around their precious tourists. Only the "decent" ones that can afford will be able to go.

@@WODEMAYA the Life Guard leaves at 5pm. Jamaicans complain about paying but they don't keep the free beaches clean. They can't have it both ways. Go to Jackson Bay beach in Clarendon the next time you are in Jamaica and see how unkempt it is. Someone has to get paid to keep people safe and keep the beaches clean. We pay for that. The hotels that are on the beaches have to protect their guests from intruders. Those same Jamaicans staying there will complain if they get assaulted by someone using the beach who just access it or trying to sell them stuff. They need to pick their battles. In America we pay for parking and entering the beaches.

The beach isn’t privatised. Doctors Cave is a business and not a charity! Free beaches are everywhere in Jamaica. If you want the facilities provided by the business you choose to enter, then you pay for it - it’s your choice, or you can use the free and beautiful Harmony Beach Park which is just a few minutes away. No one is forcing anyone to enter the property of a business that charges a fee for its facility. They have a choice of a free facility a few minutes away!

@@cleo63100that is why we as black African people can’t develop ie we don’t want to pay the price for development. The people who control the beaches are providing services and infrastructure that would not otherwise be available. What is wrong with in paying for it. I really dislike when foreigners go to a country and judge the local set up and not knowing the local dynamics. You find people coming from countries with no beaches or very few beaches per person and judge a country with too many beaches per person for the government to maintain all of them. Jamaica has over 1000 beaches and the vast majority of Jamaicans don’t pay any taxes other than than maybe property taxes and various licenses that are earmark for specific uses as a result the government can’t maintain all the beaches to a high standard. It such cases fee paying can be a public good

Wode, all beaches in Jamaica are accessible to Jamaicans or other persons. The difference is that because some of the beaches offer extra special amenities which come at a cost certain conditions have to be met to gain access. Maintenance and upgrading costs have to be met so some beaches require an entry fee. With regard to the beaches attached to the resort hotels because of matters relating to safety, security and capacity (crowd management etc) persons not resident/staying or paying at these places are not allowed free access to the properties. However, there are lawful ways that Jamaican and others can access the beaches Keep up the good job Wode!!

@@JanetCousins-to3hz stand corrected. However they had to bring in the GGT because the majority of Jamaicans were not paying taxes and many who could pay taxes were finding workarounds not to pay them. The large point in a country like Jamaica the more fee paying services like the beaches and some major highways the country is assured maintenance of them other wise when it comes time to fix and maintain their is no money because the government have many other priorities and very little money to stretch
