Can you explain why this car wash is not operating if it has potential to make up to $25,000 a month? I don't understand why someone would run it into the ground if it was making so much money.

@@RamTrucks590 Owner didn't want to work on any equipment (or hire anyone to do so), along with site upgrades. I figure he cleared enough from selling part of the lot to Dunkin Doughnuts that he felt it was OK to close it down. Kind of the same reasoning behind my own laundromat.

must be a rich car wash owner.. there are some that will not care too much about money and pay their employees well.. those are the places i love to work.. not afraid to work for decent wage.

@@b.williams9473 I Think I'm technically classed as a millennial (I honestly don't know but I'm in the 30's). I worked for 11 years from highschool at a national coffee chain place here in Canada. Then I worked for 5 years for a call centre. I would have been there for only 3 if it weren't for covid sending everyone to work from home because they were shutting down our physical location and the overseas providers for the same company were impacted even worse. They keep opening and shutting down sections in the call centre and changing the job description so much that I finally was doing the job to how I saw fit and they just decided to let me go (I was working hard but not following the stupid to me rules that made very little difference in customer service but designed to make me work harder for no wage increase). I'm also now having to worry about multiple health problems which makes it hard for me to reliably work in a job for a long period of time. At the Call Centre I still had these medical conditions but got tired of fighting them for simple accommodations so I could receive treatment to continue to work as I'm also currently tired of fighting doctors for a reasonable explanation of new symptoms I'm dealing with.

I'm 53 and my parents, siblings, and myself have always delt with crappy work environments. Sometimes I have dealt with even dangerous situations, but that's how work is 95 percent of the time. It's always been that way and we never just considered quitting. That's the difference. I hear younger people tall about hiw bad it is and to be honest, most really havent worked like past generations and they think it's going to be a pleasant experience, so yeah this generation is pretty lazy. There are exceptions, but I see a lot of young folks start a job and it's really sad.

I have been hiring people for over 23 years. I have watched the changes of the employment world over the last two decades. You are correct. Job instability is the biggest issue with the employee/employer relationships.

The trouble with that line of thinking is the employer won't give you the chance to learn new things about the business to get good at the job. Once you have the skills and are dependable they'll be willing to do more to keep you around because they know if they don't someone else will. It will also give you more of the knowledge you'll need to run your own business if you chose to do that. Just my humble opinion bud.

@@stann6868 I can feel that to a degree. But if you're working for someone, you're ALWAYS being paid less than you're making/saving for them. So I feel it's more on the company to prove to me why I should be working for them than it is for me to convince them to let me make money for them. We're brought up and taught by our corporate paid-for educations that companies are doing us some kind of favor by giving us money in return for our work. Whereas companies would go completely under without their employees. So yeah, I feel that as long as the employee is earning them more money than they're paying them (which is always the case), it's time for companies to start showing why WE should work for them instead of ourselves. And "Because there's always someone more desperate than you willing to work for anyone" shouldn't be an acceptable answer.

@@TheGreatDudist Thats where being the best you can be at what you do comes in. Someone can be more desperate, but, does he have the knowledge and skills of someone who's been working at there best. Maybe, but doubt it. I personally have always looked at it like I do my best for me not for them so, the quality of my work isn't reflected in how well I'm paid. By having the attitude you have you just let them win. Your not willing to improve yourself until they give you what you want. They will never give you what you want until your hard to replace. Hence, in a way, you are your own enemy. Ild be curious to know how old you are and where your view of the working world cane from.

Generally i haven't seen these cat pumps make enough pressure to make it worth while for THAT level of work. We do have extension hoses at one wash so we can add a reel of hose to one of the bays to wash the grounds. The big difference is the cat pumps can do 3.5gpm @ 1500psi vs a medium power washer at like 1gpm @ 4000psi. Much more water delivery, but doesn't help for the grafitti.

@@InvestmentJoy If he can manage to start without the major pressure washing fee, just some good cleaning of the bay walls and vacuum areas with the cat pumps, buying a dedicated pressure washer after some cashflow then putting in some sweat equity I could see the sales going up. I don't know if painting the bays would be a good idea I've seen that at some self service, when they are bright colors and clean they look more inviting than the raw brick. from what I saw in the video this place needs a little TLC, fresh vinyl stickers, maybe a some direction signage and will become a great spot.

Just a time & effort situation generally, there are deals to be had, but you have to make those opportunities happen.

At this point, IP68 and IP69 rated LED lights are almost as cheap as the replacement bulbs are for old ballast fluorescent lights.

How did you get the funds to purchase your first? I’m a nurse. I’d say I make decent money but I’m tired of working full time/overtime and really honestly want to own a building I can call my own that I can make money from. But at the moment I cannot imagine having enough to build my own or purchase my own laundromat. So if I may ask, how did you do it?

@natewilliams1387 I saved for many years and also borrowed some from parents. I have paid all my debts within the first 3 years. I bought an existing for 120K and spent another 20K on upgrading some machines.

Lol, let me guess you wanted to pay people the same as illegals. Nothing but illegals work in Landscaping, who the hell wants to get paid very low while not learning anything valuable. Let me guess you paid $12hr without any benefits. A young person can work at Walmart for $16.50 hr and not sweat like a slave. It's what you pay for a terrible job

@@WhiteWolfBlackStar laundromats I see as more time intensive collecting quarters/ money. Running a small 1 man trucking business is extremely time intensive and I have only taken 1 weekend off so far this year just to stay profitable. I'm definitely interested in getting a Laundomat but I'd need more passive income to make up for the loss on the trucking side. As the saying goes "if the wheels ain't turning you ain't earning". With freight rates being what they are right now and expenses not coming down I got to keep moving. Unfortunately I don't trust anyone else to drive my truck

@@KevinDR1987 Oh I see your point, my grandpa had a trucking business but there were a few of them on that crew, not sure about matching trucks or whatever, but they did pretty well. I was little I'm not sure if maybe he got a few trucks together, or a few guys with trucks together. Not sure. Everything with trucking, and produce, any sort of delivery is thru the roof! I definitely feel ya. Well I HAVE seen a few laundromats where it's card only, so it goes directly into your account. It would cut down on people robbing your money, having employees etc, but I still think it's nice to have someone there, and you can do the fluff and fold laundry on the side during business hours, either they pick up, or schedule delivery. I used to have to send my laundry out when I moved to a new city, that was just how they did it there. I know a couple places the girls there always had a few orders of wash going, day or night. THAT in itself is going to also be a bit consuming posting for new customers. I know everybody runs their establishments differently, but every one of those owners seemed pretty happy with the business. They get it down to a schedule they can handle. You need a person to work with! 😎I do hope you can work a bit of R&R into your schedule though. It's easy to push your self too hard when it's just you there doing it all. I've done that myself. As far as trusting somebody in your truck... I ABSOLUTELY HEAR YOU, if it's your only truck. Do you know anybody else that has a truck, maybe might want to combine forces? It's just a thought. I'm not sure where I saw the comment, BUT if you DO happen to find a carwash, somebody brought up having a DOGWASH around the back! Seriously, I am not even kidding, that is a really GOOD IDEA! I LOVE THAT. I'd do maybe a small cyclone fenced in area, have 2 tubs out there, and pay by the 15 minute or so. With an air blower, I'm not even sure if you'd need heat. You'd be amazed how many people would show up for that. I've usually had big dogs, and they can be a real hassle to wash if you don't have an area for it. Well, wash, fluff, and cut down on the mess, yep people would come cuz it's fun, and cheaper than bringing them to the dog groomers. As far as I know DOG WASH places do pretty well.
