I agree I just wish they had a few ergo chairs w/ a headrest under $300 which is in my budget. I would have just purchased it with them and not spent this whole week researching budget chairs when most look the same for 100 different prices.

The biggest problem is the design of the chair. If you don't sit exactly how they want you to sit, you will hate it.

Some good perspective. You get what you pay for, and certainly we know that Madison Seating does not sell the best refurbished old chairs, nor is their process or honesty anywhere near as good as some others, but for what they charge, it can be one hell of a great upgrade for someone who either can't afford more, or doesn't want to spend any more than they have to. It's nice to hear that you got such a great result, that's what matters most.

@@Ahjile I know that these guys have their own site and have some killer deals on them but I have seen a lot of complaints recently about their amias. Arm rests making noises or aren't as described. This made me try my luck for $100'ish less at Madison. They have a warranty/replacement program on their own so I figured I might as well try. I lucked out with mine I suppose because I have no issues whatsoever. My only gripe is not even their problem but with steel case themselves not allowing the width of the armrests to be adjusted outwards. Terrific value for what I paid

@@EastOfEden96 Excellent! It should be noted, though, that Madison's warranty is essentially worthless. (There's a good video about this somewhere - that fine print is a bitch.) Where as BTOD's warranty is pretty much as good as it gets. That's probably the biggest difference between the two, actually, among many other significant differences.

It’s not. They don’t sell open box chairs. Well, they do, but they made up their own definition for open box that the rest of the world does not follow. Their definition of open box and the way they get away with lying is clarifying open box as meaning the chair is not in the original box anymore. That’s not a thing. They just made it up. Any other open box product you buy is exactly that, a product with an open box. It’s great to hear you are happy with the condition of your chair but it is 100% refurbished. -RB

I can't recall any smell. I ended up returning the chair. I got the size b aeron and it was too small. The size c was double the price so I got leap v2 from BTOD instead. I've been happy with my leap.

I did the same. Clearly refurbished is fine when you know what you can see it locally and you know what you are getting.

Got mine for 50 off facebook market place. End up costing me a bit more because I had to buy a staple gun to stitch the foam on the back rest back in. Now I got a nice Chair, and a stapler for 150. Yes I know, the stapler cost more than the chair. LOL.

@@classifiedsuser3265 The chair I received shares many similarities with the one in the video: spray painted parts, new but very firm armrests, same looking fabric. More on the fabric, it seems to be identical to the rough, canvas like fabric on those generic small black office chairs that don't have armrests. The originals at my work have like a t shirt feel. There was some small cracks on the plastic parts where one of the armrest attaches. Ebay reviews complain about paying to ship back and forth to use warranty. That and the deceptive labeling are 2 red flags. It's a great chair thanks to Steelcase when it was new, but I am still waiting to see how the chair holds up as I just got it.

A year late, but based on the listing I read, btod attempts to restore it as close as possible to factory within reason vs just throwing a random bit of upholstery on top of a 15 year old chair and stapling it.

@@DomzyDX Yeah, it's a pretty cheap way of doing things, but I'm pretty sure it's still comfortable as upholstery are just decorations, and don't really impact the experience as much as the engineering of it. But yes BTOD's process is much superior, but is it better...I don't know,.

@@ex8280 I purchased a new one and I can tell you the fabric is pretty soft and breathable, I can't imagine someone doing these back alley listings are using soft breathable fabric. But yeah the underlying support of the frame and flexibility would likely still be there. I would also be scared of the staples coming loose and the upholstery falling off at some point.

I think you might have missed the point of the video. They are advertising the chair as new open box. People are expecting a new chair, that is lightly used, but getting a poorly refurbished one from 2007 -GK

​@@apster07I'll answer this for you, it feels like you are sitting on the fabric of a $50 office chair while having the frame and back support of a $1100 leap chair. Assuming you get a chair that's in good of a condition as shown here (the eBay listing had quite a few complaints on cracks) you would likely get the full back support of a leap chair while having scruffy uncomfortable plastic based cushioning and fabric feel.

@@btodtv I was looking at two of their listings today and they list as “New - Open Box” so apparently the changed wording did not last.

@@vivian9803 A couple people were saying that what they got seemed like it was in fact open box. Most I see on eBay are officially refurbished even if the title says open box, but a couple say open box in both places.

@@vivian9803 ​@BTODtv I tried reporting the listing on this chair, the Amia and Freedom chairs since they also are listed as "New - Open Box," as well, and have similar foam seat cushions that could be reupholstered. I didn't do it on the other mesh chair brands that they have "New - Open Box" listed as well because I imagine it's harder to reupholster those without the end user noticing it's demonstratively different from new. We'll see if eBay does anything or if there needs to be a critical mass of complains. The eBay seller in question seems to have a 99.7% positive feedback rating. I guess the majority of people are too dumb to notice they got duped because they're not chair experts.

Really? Risk a low quality chair like this one just for shipping? You should contact your local sellers or call steelcase. Heck even try contacting btod direct instead of buying from this shady seller.

Sorry, our number one concern is being able to get working products to our customers. Unfortunately, international shipping of these large/heavy chairs has a high likelihood of damage. The costs is prohibitive as well. I wish we could help you! Thanks for watching-GK
