"We Can Be Heroes" - 2020
When alien invaders kidnap Earth's superheroes, their kids are whisked away to a government safe house. But whip-smart tween Missy Moreno will stop at nothing to rescue her superhero dad, Marcus Moreno. Missy teams up with the rest of the superkids to escape their mysterious government babysitter, Ms. Granada. If they're going to save their parents, they'll have to work together by using their individual powers - from elasticity to time control to predicting the future - and form an out-of-this-world team.

i think a cooler version of the superpower would be “a girl who can manipulate sound” like, she can temporarily deafen people, make soundwaves into giant energy blasts, hee voice always being in autotune becuz of her powers; just generally better ideas than “i can sing and also fly”

Pedro Pascal's had a wild adventure. First he becomes some ninja guy that fights alien dudes with a samurai sword, than becomes a space super soldier that gets overprotective of a baby yoda, and now he has a daughter who dies immediately to a mushroom fungus thing that turns everyone into zombies and he spends 20+ years living with it.

My favorite part about this movie is how faithful is is to the robert rodreguiez style. He comes up with these stories that seem entirely like a kid coming up with their own hero story and the cgi looks exactly like it does when you come up with it in your head, very bright and colorfully and not at all thought all the way through. A movie where the second pass of the script is not reviewing it, but adding every trope you can think of that is cool, and not even trying to consider any plot holes because you’ve never heard of them and have no Idea they exist.
