Update: I've been talking to Comp Turbo to get some real good ones on here, and we've found the true issue that's been going on. However, we made an efficient horsepower until the other boi went deado mode. Also Idk why my computer autocorrected "wastegate" to "Wastewater", I'm sorry LOL

Hey what's up man, from what I can tell the way you are running it now is correct. But I am pretty sure the small turbo has called it quits. It's possible that you may have over-spooled it at one point, but also make sure your blow-off valve is in the same pipe that goes to the throttle body. I can't really tell on the video if you do or not, just making sure so don't bash me. Thanks for putting this content out there, and I respect what you're doing as well. Keep it up man.

The problem with making boost so early (oddly enough) is that you also start making loads of torque at low RPM. Which is probably the most dangerous scenario for any engine. If the tune isn’t built to manage this, rods will fly lol

To start out, you need a lot more data. Boost doesn't matter at all. Air density matters. Get some readings of air temps and air pressures in each stage of your system. The configuration in this video works. The previous set up could work for certain applications depending on what it needs, but the down side would be the volume of air provided to the "Large primary" turbo off the engine. Without having the "Smaller Secondary" turbo cavitating/surging/dying. That would only get worst with rpm. Diesels get away with a lot because they do not have to worry about spark timing, they have stronger design, fuel cooks a motor not boost, Boost helps egts in a diesel, and lower rpms. Intercooling between stages will really aid the system. Taking 14.7 psia or 0 atmosphere and putting it through the atmospheric turbo will raise boost pressure to x. That pressure x has a lot of heat and probably moisture. If you can cool this down you will make more power with less boost. Then, the secondary turbo of your compound set up will compress x pressure to xcompounded to what ever ratio of efficiencies the turbos are sized too. Understanding this you will see having a large atmospheric turbo is beneficial. Both turbos will have to work less hard. Volume is there for secondary to compress and the bipass of exhaust from the small primary will spool the large turbo faster. Win win. The big "but" is heat and boost management. Make sure you have a good crank ventilation system. Monitor your psia to exhaust back pressure. The closer to 1:1 the better the efficiency of the setup with this motor.

You should put it back to how you have it. Look at the pulls on your first street run. It was working beautifully. But those pulls are probably what blew it. Week turbo, hard pulls 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ seamed like a good setup that could work and was working. Go with your gut my guy. You are very smart and Ethan is a genius. Can’t wait till you get it solid 👌🏻👌🏻🤙🏻

Get the actuator flap on the t25 welded shut sence you are using external wastegates. It should help it spool up

You should find some diagrams of the stock compound turbo setup on FD rx7’s. It was complicated and unreliable because it was so advanced at the time but with the similarity of small displacement it could be helpful

It's alot of variables small housing alot of back pressure, remember that the t25 always fall on its face above 15-17psi which is a combination of alot of stuff. What I'm coming along with is as you said in the end, the T25 isn't efficient enough to be compounded. Get a high flow efficient small turbo with a moderately sized rear housing to prevent back pressure.

Think how the compound turbo card are in Japan. One of the same size turbo goes into the next turbo of the same time to get it spoiling and them together spoiling. So get another T3 turbo identical to the first bigger one and Bam the system should work. Also make sure to run the blow offs for each

Get rid of that ebay turbo and get a PTE 5557 or 5857, could saved you headaches and hours on the dyno since the beginning hehe. Since I used a t3 from "maxpeedingrods" turbo blown on the 4th pull. I was having the same issue on the dyno that you had, graphic going down like that after spool up. Those ebay turbos are luck, sometimes they can last 2-3 years, sometimes they blow up on 3rd pull from brand new.

Need to have the big one off the manifold and little one off that and compound it. T4 feeding the t25 should push it well little lag then bang and hold. You almost got it just need to swap the turbos around and keep the same feeding

I'd look into LANCIA and there's also a guy in CA that did his Lotus, they might have been COMBO and not COMPOUND charged but there might be some useful information to be had there that might even help or at the very least interesting.

So have you tried a primary T3 turbine/T4 compressor to a compound T4 turbine/compressor set up? External wastegate on both turbos? Easier to tune better boost and quick spool for primary to compound

You can use the T25 just need external wastegate, Like a 44 into the t3 turbo. The small backend of the t25 is restricting the engine capabilities, so that's where the 44mm wastegate comes in to bypass exhaust gas straight into the T3 turbo which should have a next 44mm wastegate on it. Use nothing smaller than the 44mm wastegate if you're staying with the t25, but the turbo is already dead.

Large turbo is for volume. It works really well at high engine RPMs when the engine needs a lot of volume, horrible for low engine RPM. The small turbo is for pressure. Quick spooling= good for low engine RPM but cant supply volume needed at higher engine RPM. So with combine the two you get both worlds, quick spool up at low RPMs and high pressure/high volume at higher engine RPM. You get a flatter power delivery that rises quick. Many things can effect turbo performance characteristics, turbine and compressor wheel geometry and diameter sizes for example, but a single turbo only works good at a certain part of the spectrum. To widen that spectrum you compound turbo.

One thing I like about Sweden is that if your fuel station have more then one pump it needs to have E85. And face it there is almost only pumps that have more then 1 pump so almost every station have E85.

I believe the t25 May be causing an exhaust restriction to the the larger turbo. Maybe this is due to a turbo charger fault, or the two not matching from the larger turbos compressor restricting flow to the t25’s intake at higher rpm? Maybe try a smaller exhaust housing on the larger turbo to help it spool a little quicker. The massive exhaust housing would have issues spooling even by itself in a standalone situation. Just a thought.

Here is a sugestion, size your big turbo to the max hp that you want to put out from your engine, choose the largest exahust housing to minimize back pressure, for the small turbo get one with half the flow (lb/min). This way they will work together.

I do think it's smaller turbo into bigger turbo though. Just get a nice little turbo. There's a dual ball bearing Garret 25 that should spool instantly. This is like spooling a turbo with nitrous. Except you're spooling a turbo with another turbo.

maybe t25 broke during last setup, you shoud try to get new one with this setup. Like you said that t25 doesnt spool and make boost correctly on its own so it must be broken or its wastegate is wide open. I dont know about ebay turbos but some times even journal bearing turbos need restriction to oil feed and good free flowing retrun or they might start pushing oil thru seals and start smoking. if return does not flow correctly then bearings does not get enough oil flow and they can get shot. I had once broken inside an10 teflon retrun and turbo started to smoke but i didnt mind it first but decided to look into it and bearings were all Black maybe even little blue, because of overheating. with larger return and new bearings that same turbo is Still very happy. Also i think you might have too Small gate in that t25 and you might overspin that Small turbo
