We love the Husqvarna FC450 but one of our biggest gripes with the platform is the feel from the WP XACT Air Fork. Fortunately, WP offers their XACT Pro 6500 Cartridge kit that converts the stock Air Fork internals to spring. After getting the run down on the kit, we had SML test rider Rene Garcia spin some laps and compare the spring conversion to the stock air forks. Check it out!

Air forks are like dancing with numb feet. KTM should be ashamed of themselves for putting out bikes with that junk.

get the spring conversion kit I haven't gotten a ride on it yet but I can't wait never had a problem out of the air Forks never checked them but I've only put three and a half hours in my bike can't wait to ride with this new conversion kit

Wait did you change them out to spring and then ride too or was that just the evaluation of the air fork lol feel like I got more info on the shock

So was it good, bad , how was it different. Was the air fork riding like a chooper or the spring fork. How was in braking bumps. How was it on big jumps. more info would be helpful if I am going to spend $1500 dollars . Is it worth the money......

Is there any motivation in the sport for a WP/Factory Connection/*insert suspension company* support truck/van to sell slots for days at a track to get riders suspension dialed? For the average rider or non-factory amateurs, you send your stuff off, get it serviced, then get it back, and your over a week into the investment to see if it paid off

I do not understand why they didn’t just wait to fully engineer and test front AND rear air suspension for production. That alone bothers me enough not buy into the air forks.

I have a 21 fc 450 i am not a great rider but the air forks work for me ..I would like to add i am an older generation where we make things work we understand a weakness and we work around it ,its not perfect but its good enough .. The money in R&D that these manufactures spend is a high but i feel we the consumers are largely paying for it with the you must personalise your bike for you !!! Its about time the manufactures sold the individual bike to the individual customer at least change spring rates for each customer as a minimum .. If i buy a new car i can have certain colour interior ,sunroof etc Why cant a 10 k bike come the right springs for my weight and application ..???

You need to test that suspension at rougher tracks not those dry ass Cali highways they call tracks

My thoughts also. All of the magazine articles and shootouts are always out west. Meanwhile the other 90% of us are in a totally different geography.

I've never understood why people complain about having to check the pressure in air forks throughout the day. It's no different than checking your tire pressure as the temperature changes, so why does it matter that much?

because most people don't care if their tire is 11.75 psi, they care it's not flat and not rock hard, so a quick squeeze on it makes sure it's in a decent range. You can't do that with an air fork so far as I can tell. I have to check my daughter's before every moto because just a few psi fluctuation is the difference between a hard landing on an OJ and literal broken wrists.

@@therawlifefamily Just from my personal experience, a couple psi +/- has never been the difference between literally breaking something and being fine. If that's the case for you, there might be a bit more of a problem with your forks than a simple pressure setting. I view it just like setting a tire pressure. I set mine to 14 psi when I get to the track, and if it gets warmer/cooler throughout the day, I'll set it again and be done with it until the next ride day. Same goes with an air fork. Takes no time at all.

@@coldsteeloffroad really? i didn’t know that. i was kinda just making a joke because i could’ve swore my dad told me that all the ktm’s used to say white power on the fork guards and now they abbreviated it to wp for obvious reasons. but i believe you it probably is for the founder

@@gorgebush6604 apparently it did stand for that at one point but like you said, it had to change for obvious reasons. The original WP abbreviation you eluded to came from the color of their springs due to using a company that only had the color white to paint hospital beds. One of the WP videos on here has a WP employee talking about cone valve forks & Super Trax shocks & he tells the story.

As much as ever one is disappointed with the air forks,why does ktm stay with them. Just to say there bike is lighter than ever one else?

Sweet Jesus, them forks cost more than I paid on my last bike lol that’s what’s wrong with these new bikes and parts. They are pricing people out of the sport. We will never see a lot of talent simply because it’s become way to expensive to ride or race

while i agree the sport is pricing itself out of reach of many people the $1300 price for this kit if you adjust for inflation is no more than we paid for a Ohlins shock ten years ago

@@Sleepy.Time. it really means that for a lot of people KTM is just not practical. Sure, the a-kit WP stuff is better than a stock yz450, but that makes the sticker price of a KTM 17k vs 10k for the YZ and the stock YZ KYB stuff is great.

@@Sleepy.Time. buy a clean 04 YZ250, rebuild the engine, throw some SSS Forks and you’ll have the best of the best for a fraction of a new one.

So listening to this young rider, the spring kit isn't worth it. Just stay with the aer because it's more adjustable.

Hard to really enjoy moto anymore, overpriced bikes that need overpriced mods to be comfortable on. And then the way overpriced fuel and ride fees.Maybe just stick to walking the dog this year. yah!

I disagree. Go jump on a 90’s Dirtbike and see just how far they’ve come. We are absolutely SPOILED. The complaints about the new bikes are so insignificant in the grand scheme. People are lazy and whiny. “Ohh I don’t wanna have to check my air pressure in my fork to make it work good. Whaaaaawaaaa…”
