The Solesmes method is an approach to Gregorian chant that has been advocated by some of the monks of Solesmes Abbey for the past hundred years, and it seems to us to be at odds with the liturgical and musical tradition of the Church. In this video, I try to explain what we see as the shortcomings, and how we seek to remedy them.
The video excerpt is from the documentary "Le chant perdu de Grégoire", by Amalia Escriva and Agnes Gerhards. I invite you to watch it, it is fascinating.
In terms of bibliography, I invite you to discover the work of Dom Saulnier (his books, but also his website palmus.free.fr/sessions.html), and that of Marcel Pérès (his records with the Ensemble Organum, his book "Les Voix du plain-chant"). And more globally, we are attentive to the way people sing where the musical and liturgical tradition has not been lost.

We sing Sunday mass in Lyon, in the evening, at the church of St-Bruno-des-Chartreux; and vespers in falsobordone every Monday.
