At the end of the workshop given by Marcel Pérès on the manuscripts of the École Notre-Dame (which date from the 13th century), we sing the gradual of Pentecost "Spiritus Sanctus", in organum. The piece begins with an Alleluia, whose intonation is in organum, and which continues in plainsong; then the verse is in organum, except for the last word which is again in plainsong; and finally the reprise of the Alleluia, whose intonation follows a different melody but which obeys the same principle.
The manuscript from which the plainchant is taken is the Latin 1337, a 13th-century Parisian gradual; and the one for the organums is the Pluteus 29, the main source for the École Notre-Dame.
