Guys, many of these cars are used as a spares source to keep many other customers roadworthy old Mercs going, both here and overseas. The gentleman that owns them is well respected in classic Mercedes circles as his ability and knowledge is invaluable.

This is a disgrace that these classic mercs in particular the 70s 80s and the very early 90s models have been left to rot like this.

Thank you for uploading this. Fascinating! I am really, really surprised that cars left out for so long would remain so very, very clean and tidy. Also, given that this site is easily accessible via a public footpath it is also gratifying that there is little or no vandalism.

Weird seeing the cars like this.., I started my mechanics career in 1990 after leaving school, at a Ford main dealership working on XR2’s, XR3’s and XR4’s etc (they were everywhere!) then worked on all models of cars but from 2010 to 2015 I worked as a Mercedes Benz roadside assistance technician!, so a trip down memory lane for sure!.., (2015 had enough & became an HGV driver!).., love all of your videos (not just car vids) long may they continue 👍

Wow what a place love this stuff but it gets to me as well when you see rare cars going to waste

I owned a 71 280SE with stacked light, a beast of a V8, no electronics to spoil the fun, also had an 81 300d, another beast but more in the way it just pulled & pulled, makes me sad to see them all sitting rotting in a field.

As a cls550 owner.....this just breaks my heart

The better looking cars had MOT's between 2016 - 2019, none of the cars I checked were MOT failures, I reckon they were victims of the scrappage schemes. Even the buried cars were not MOT failures, some have been there well over 10 years.

funny isnt it, doesnt seem long ago rotting xr2s and xr4x4s were a common site on the roads now we marvel at them rotting in a field lol

WONDERFUL MERCEDES 60S,70S,80S.

It's hard to believe someone would let cars like this sit and rot, out in the wilderness. Especially when many of these cars hail from an era when Mercedes still designed their cars without penny pinching, and they were beautifully engineered. With that in mind, I'm sure many of them could still be reasurected, as there are obviously plenty of spares. This makes even less sense, when you consider how much some of these cars were new, the E and S classes especially, but even the base 190's were hardly what you'd call cheap! It was really sad to see those old W108's too, with at least one being a 3.5, with the stacked headlights. I bought one, (but the straight six version), many years ago, which had been sat, in a scrap yard, for over two years, with the bonnet and boot left wide open. After getting it home, draining the fuel system and persuading the fuel pump to work again, i put a new battery on it, let the fuel pressure build up and it pretty much fired straight up, then just settled down into a steady idle. It gave me even more respect for the way these cars used to be built! Try doing that with something like a Renault, from the same era! I wouldn't say no to a couple of others there either, the XR4x4 especially. I just hope someone saves as many of these cars as possible, as it terrible to think of these just continuing to languish here until they really do reach the point of no return.

I have a 99ml and I had to put bigger wheels on it, it had the same as the ones on you found there and it felt like it was going to tip, but I have the beasty steps too which keeps people from trying to cut in at traffic lights lol. But the one there looks nicer than mine 😔 I had many of the cars there, an e class was the same Burgundy as the one you went in. Also the 328, I had a tourer which went like stink. Lol. I'm amazed how things can just be left in public view, I doubt there are many merc drivers in the area lol👍

Not the rarest car but my heart sank seeing that EP3 like that I truly believe that car is pound for pound one of the most fun affordable future classic hot hatches you can get they are brilliant not the fastest thing but a good craic just ashame to many fall into the wrong hands and get a bad reputation .

Had a 420se, not sel same car just not as long back in 2009 when you could buy them for peanuts. Great car bulletproof. The white merc @ 16:25 ticket was out in Apr 08 and it's a 230E badged to the left of the boot. They Cosworthed the 190e if i recall 2.3 and the later 2.5 both 16v.
