We venture back out onto Root Glacier to complete our goal of doing a polar plunge. Then we start the long journey towards the US and Canadian Border and stop to explore a road that wanders along side a glacier to find a camp spot for the night.

Longtime watcher/subscriber. There are two things I've been thinking for a while and wanted to share. First, the introduction animation for this series is by far the best I've EVER seen on any youtube/television show. Second, and more importantly, I have wondered why this channel feels so different and why it's so addictive. As strange as it sounds, your videos make me nostalgic. Nostalgic for times/places I was never in. It's difficult to explain but it sure is nice.

That might be the most meaningful compliment we've gotten about this series. Thank you. I always set out to make something that makes people feel something. I truly believe that cathartic experiences is how we learn about ourselves and in turn the world and people around us. When you are open about those experiences I think it opens up a conversation and/or space for others to explore that meaning for themselves.

I also want to comment that I never get tired of the opening montage. I never skip over it. And as for the beauty of the series, it's partly where you are, partly the camera work, and partly how you tell the story.

Only one plunge into that beautiful aqua cold water? I might of plunged twice. I visited Tuktoyatuk, NWT in Canada in June 2019 and splashed around in the Arctic Ocean for about 10 minutes. Water was warm under a beautiful sunny day. Of course it was only a foot and 1/2 deep too. Enough to sit down and splash like a little kid in the bathtub. Most fun 'bath' I've taken ever.

Rusty below said it well. My family and I have lived in a National Park all of our lives, my daughter was raised in one, and it has changed and molded every bit of who we are. We currently live in a beautiful, near by city, not large but I miss the beauty, the tranquility of our former life. The animals in my yard, the full set of stars at night so close you can touch them. I have said this before but I am envious of your jobs and so amazed at your work, pictures, video everything. When you said what you did after your plunge I started to cry... I felt that and understood as I have too felt that way in front of my mountains... I do not know if you want to go bigger than your current show but Nat Geo needs to pick you all up. I was sad when it ended....
@BoundForNowhere

Thank you so much for the kind words. It would appear that we are very much cut from the same cloth. Once we've come to live closely with the land (in whatever way you do that, as there are many versions) it's hard to separate yourself from it. Spending time outside helps us realize that that is where we came from. We are a product of nature, and all too often act as if we live outside of it, or separate from it entirely. In nature, we are home.

I did a similar "polar plunge" on the Annupurna circuit trek in the Himalayan mountains in Nepal but I had the luxury of a natural hot spring nearby. We were soaking in the hot spring pool adjacent to a river that was fed by glacier runoff so the river water was just above freezng. I decided to take a plunge in the riverside and a couple others went with me. The jump in is invigorating but after a short time you feel like you are starting to lose muscle control. It's a wild expereience for sure.

Yeah the music is something that is so important to us. I (MAK) spend at least a day's worth or work per episode just looking for the music. Sometimes it takes longer than that. Now that we are at the end of the series we feel like we are running a little dry on music that we like. It will be nice to no need to look for music for a while to let some new stuff come out ;)

I liked the soul train section of the video. But you weren’t born when that was on TV

Wonderful video, as always! Can't find a credit for the music for the Dance Party. Would love to know what it is (and what Mac was actually listening to)!

What time of year was this filmed? I don’t see any snow and you’ve got the place to yourselves. I was there a few years ago, beuatiful place.

Late August! All the episodes have hand written journal entries from the day it happened. We include the date so if you ever want to go back for reference

DANG YO! What a banger of a film. Loved seeing more of the Tundra home on the move 😎🤙And travel Catan?! Also, how much portable storage do you rock on your extended trips? I feel like all those insane time lapses and shots must eat some serious terabytes after a while.

We have an entire @pelican case worth of backup hard drives. If there is one thing we don't mess around with, it's our digital storage for our work

To be a bit more specific; We used a 4TB SSD for footage, 2TB SSD for time lapses, and one more 2TB SSD for photos on this trip. We carry several 5TB hard drives for archiving and then dump them every year when we visit family. It's a LOT for sure!

Thanks Amanda! That is honestly my dream job. But as my Dad always says: Be so good, they can't ignore you 😏 To which I'd say we're still working on, but we'll get there

You two are nuts! I live in Florida and will not get in my pool unless water is 80 degrees. Like I mentioned to you before I really enjoy your channel. Been to Alaska a couple of times can’t wait for the next time. Safe travels.

That polar dip gave me chills.🥶…reminds me why I left the snow belt and never looked back.🤪😂 I wonder how often you guys get your rig tuned (knock on wood)…the locations you visited all look pretty remote.

What a great series, it should be picked up Netflix! Does anyone know the name of the game they were playing at 21:29? I have heard about it but can't recall the name of it to order it.
