Though those pull starts should open. There might be some that are cheap shit you cannot but havent run into one yet. Never the less just put oil in and it should start moving again.

It was good to see Edwin back on camera for more than 60 seconds. - Second, this beast deserves nothing less than a GHP first. So, I propose that you all make this your drag car. Keep that low profile, flaunt that rear shifting weight distribution under acceleration. put a proper motor in it then let her rip! - And lastly, please see the above two points. That is all XD

I've used old garden tractors using old rudimentary clutch mechanisms like that. The only one I remember that moved the engine had it on a hinge, so engaging the clutch was tilting the engine backwards to put tension on the belt. It seems really kludgy, but it always worked properly. Just needs a new belt every few months.

That thing will never be an off road cart. You can throw lots of money and parts at it.. and before long those welds are going to start breaking apart. Keep it on road and on concrete or blacktop. Interesting design, brilliant in some ways. The construction is good.. with the exception of the welds.. which unfortunately hold it all together. Dont sress it and it will last a long time. Stress it by banging over stuff.. and it will fall apart in short order.

It looks like a riding lawn mower but backwards, with the engine mounted on the blade engaging pulley. The gears are just the speed selection that a riding lawn mower would have. Which is why you don’t need to push in a clutch to change gears, and why it’s so slow. Pretty good idea actually

The previous owner used the running gear out a riding tractor. the body is a copy of the ZZ Top eliminator. it doesn't have much ground clearance. get rid of those self tapping screws. and either use screws with nuts and grind off the excess or use rivets. I believe it would be a good candidate to give the chassis a complete redesign. the body is pretty cool maybe leave the windshield and do away with the sides. so you have room to move your arms. it would be like a Powerwheels ZZ Top eliminator the only one in existence. research the ZZ Top eliminator and you will find who ever built the body got it pretty close.

You are right, it's definitely a one-off. Someone made some very strange choices during construction. I've never seen a motor slide back and forth on anything before. It seems to be built solid, from junk yard parts. I think you are right about the transmission coming from a riding lawn mower. There is definitely something to be said for getting the job done even if some of it is a bit ugly. Also, it has a great presentation with the hot rod theme. (less those self tappers. File those things down.)

100% build it up a bit, it's too weirdly cool not to. If you do decide to flip it later fixing some of the flaws and more power in it would probably work in your favor if you keep the build on the cheap.

Keep it, make it fast! Maybe it'll give you guys an excuse to meet Billy Gibbons. That looks like I welded it. It's nickname could be "sharp dressed", cause all the welds are neither sharp, or dressed....

Whoever made that was a damn genius, that engine movement is like a little cvt for it, it lets you have a neutralish idle
@kurtl6126
@kurtl6126 2 жыл бұрын
Not a cvt, it functions as the clutch. The builder could have just used a tensioner instead of sliding the whole engine so I wouldnt be reaching for the word genius here, but certainly creative
@RatsnRods
@RatsnRods 2 жыл бұрын
@@kurtl6126 looks just like a cvt, tho I’ve never seen a clutch look like that, I understand where your coming from but frankly i don’t give a shit, have you ever seen that before? That shit is innovative, he worked with what he had and his crazy out of the box thinking and made a badass little machine. Let’s see your go kart, Kurt.

Amazing. Might be my favorite video so far. If the recoil on the pull start is jacked, you can just take it off, put your impact on the nut on top of the motor and use your impact like a starter to crank it over.

it's built from a Sears craftsman lawn tractor. I had a similar engine from a craftsman rear bagger push mower. the engine on this hot rod isn't modified. bypass the governor, put a throttle cable directly on the carburetor throttle. there's room for porting the intake and exhaust, eyebrow shave on the cylinder block and possibly a different sized pulley to make the transmission spin faster. relash the valves for higher compression. I started playing with small engines since I was 14 and nearly 35 years later I started catching onto porting mods. I only use the briggs and stratton engines. I've blown up a few Tecumseh motors right in my driveway to show how much stronger the B&S engines are. Really low cost tons of fun and the kids learn a lot out of it!!

Bigger tires and put wood on the inside of the body to remove the rivet and have something to attach it to the metal. Easy cheap fix
