Car throttle was good when Alex was there, but I think that Alex leaving was the best thing that could’ve happened to both channels. Alex being the natural presenter that he is his best suited running his own show where he can be the main man that he wanted to be. Now with these three the dynamic is perfect. Nobody is better than each other in terms of what they can offer and they all bring something to the table, both knowledgeable and comedic. I regularly lol watching these three so thanks for the lols!

Once Mazda certified American here. We got the 2.3 miller cycle engines. Drove a couple back in the early 2000s and they were quite fun. I'm a technical nerd too so loved the function of the Miler Cycle. I have to point out you got it a little off on the valve opening logic. The exhaust valve remains open while the crankshaft is in the first few degrees BDC to eliminate the inefficient compression action that happens from low leverage during those moments of angle. The supercharger then makes up for that loss plus a little bit more resulting in a net gain of combustibles while losing a little friction. Check out the Isky 5 cycle cams and Miller cycle engines from the 60s if you want to see the origin and some neat applications of the engineering. Really love Mazda's propensity for the oddball engines. I'm a rotary nerd too. Sad how much Ford has messed with their reliability.

@@Mandarin9900 they weren't super common but not weird to see one until maybe last 5-10 years. Now I'm trying to think of the last time I saw one. They did suffer from a few quirks and were very unforgiving of lazy maintenance so I bet that has something to do with the lack of them I've seen.

These Mazda's were known as the Millenia in the mid-90's to the early 2000's here in the States. Miller cycle engine came in some of them (I don't think all of them though here). Drove one of these in 1997 when the Mazda dealer I bought my FD through gave it to me as a loaner when my car needed a new motor. The Millenias were interesting cars.

I loved the Xedos 6 and 9 back in the 90's; i remember trying to convince my Dad to choose a Xedos 6 as his company car but he ended up with a rather pedestrian Rover 600 in non-metallic pillarbox red instead :( There were a few non-premium exec cars in the 90's and the depreciation on them at the time was scary .... they are all super rare (and i reckon quite cool) now. Really feel you need to find a Nissan QX, a Renault Safrane and/ or a Peugeot 605 aswell and do a road trip 😎

For me this is exactly what Mazda is all about when it comes to pushing the boat out and trying something different with their engines, take the Skyactiv-X for example today... Having owned a MX-3 1.8 V6, MX-6 V6, and now an RX8 40th they are all underrated in the public eye. I'll always love Mazda as a quirky and well engineered car manufacturer. As with all cars, look after it and it will look after you, enjoy lads!

Father in law named the car Big-Ed because the last few Reg numbers was edd 😊 As a petrol head the thought of having a big fat Mazda was crazy, until I first drove it and was amazed by the s/charger and the grunt it had! This is so exciting to me because I absolutely love the Xedos cars. The Xedos 6 and 9 were excellent to drive and I think excellent to look at. I love that they are starting to get more recognition now, my grandma has a Eunos 500 (What the Xedos 6 was sold as over here in Australia) with the beautiful 2.0L V6 Mazda K engine and oh my god I fell in love with that car. Sadly, it's not registered anymore and needs a few things doing to it, but their minor things like the paint and needs new tires. But it's sitting in their garage under the cover, and hopefully someday in the future I can re register it, get new tires and drive it around more. Absolutely love these cars.

I used to own a Ford Probe GT, which used the same KL 2.5l V6 that was in the Millenia/Xedos whatever. The KJ-ZEM that is in this car is a close relative of the KL 2.5. I believe it was the piston bore of the 2.5 but the shorter stroke of the 2.0. They were available in the US but still super rare. I was a mechanic for nearly 20 years and I think I’ve worked on 2. They were a great luxury car and the K-series V6s were unbelievably smooth. This was the most powerful version of the K-series engine, just edging out the 200hp KLZE 2.5l. I think they look really cool too and they’ve aged well.

And what he said about the miller cycle being efficent is true because our version got 28 us mpg which is really good for a 6 cylinder car with a 4 speed in the early 2000s. 210 ftlb in that sedan would also be properly quick off the line. I fulfilled this challenge with one of my dailies once. A 1985 Ford Grosvenor, then 30+ years old. I found it for sale at a car show literally walking distance from home. £1600, it used to be the mayor of Sheffield's car. One of less than 20 built, 2 left and the only one on the road (mine). Ironically, during my short ownership, the other one came up for sale but couldn't afford 2. Being a Mk2 Granada limousine, parts and support were quite easy considering it was unique on UK roads!

As I understand it they pulled back at the last moment and killed higher end projects to reduce costs as a response to Japan's bubble economy bursting. Keen to see if they manage to actually make the hybrid Cosmo 3R hinted at by their patent filings (could be an RX-9 but based on the current trend of new models being more upmarket luxury oriented, plus 3 rotor only ever being delivered in the Eunos Cosmo, I'd be betting on a Cosmo).

We actually did get the 2.3L stateside, marketed as the Millenia S, but despite them being sold here until the end in 2002, like in the UK, you never see them on the roads anymore. In fact in my search to find one just for the fun of it, I came across one example for sale and it was the 2.5L model. :( Thoroughly enjoyed the video though and that's a wicked awesome find! That and the MX-3 with its 1.8L V6 are 2 of the quirkiest cars that came out of Mazda at that time. Well that and the 626 with its oscillating center vents lol. Mazda was a truly different breed of car in the 90's and 00's and they weren't afraid to try pretty much anything. Hands down one of my favorite car brands of all time.

as a mazda geek and fan, I am about to buy one of these, a 2002 facelifted one, oh god how amazing it is to see another miller still on the road. be careful with the car since these engines like to drink oil through the supercharger seals and if you do not notice that and fix it on time its game over cuz they spin rod bearings like an f11 530D without oil... other than that if you can hear some slight tapping in the engine its most likely old oil, bad oil or low oil driving and that means your valve lifters are gonna knock

I had exactly this model for like 7 years. Only it was silver, not champagne. The comfort level for cruising around was off the charts, but it had this surprising power when you needed it (211 bhp). One special thing about it was the very low seating position in it, proper sports car low, yet super, super comfortable. And the suspension was like flying a 747 on clouds. Very unique car. I miss it sometimes.

It looks like someone said "I'll design something to look like a saucy Jag" and then died half way designing it so they just filled in the blank spots with typical American 90's saloon cars shapes.

My dad had a Xedos 6. It was exceptionally refined for a mid-90s junior executive car. He had the V6 which was a lovely engine, although I can't imagine putting up with a car that size and having the 1.6. Although beware if you take it out at night as the headlights were terrible. Hopefully bulbs have improved in the last 20 years.

I remember seeing one of these when they were new here in Sydney, Australia around '97 or '98- never saw one ever again. Back in the day this was quite a posh car.

I adore this! So rare and very unusual. I have always loved cars that are rare or different to everything else on the roads.

I have great memories with one of these, my dad picked up a green, non supercharged one of this for my mom from the auction, you could say i grew up with it. We never had a problem with it, the only issue was the rust. I think I've only ever seen one other xedos 9 on the road back then and a handful of the xedos 6

got my green `98 Xedos 9 outside in the drive way, curently around 360.000km and going strong, i have had do weld up one rusthole on the enginemount on the right side of the car, i found it while changing the timingbelt on it, hard to see without taking the mount itself of the struttower (the hole was in the struttower) also painted the innside of my headlights and running on 19" wheels for now. looking for some 18"with a nice edge :)

Here in Australia 🇦🇺 they were called Eunos. The larger spaceship looking 929 were very popular here as well. The car you bought was an absolute nick for 1000 pounds, I wish it was mine tbh.

I had one of those in college. They were called millennia in the us. 200 horses in such a tiny car. It wasn’t super zippy, but it wasn’t slow. I was the only person I knew who had one. Not popular at all. Wasn’t the most aerodynamic. I remember getting pushed side to side with every cross wind

I had two of these (at the same time for some reason) many years ago in Australia, badged as Eunos 800M's both in burgundy. All up both cost me less than $1000aud but for good reason. The paint was so sun damaged on one that it was down to grey primer in some spots - on a hot day a friend who was leaning on the car walked away only to take most of the clear coat with him... No mechanics wanted to touch them and both slowly became undriveable through overheating and big oil leaks! Were great when they worked though and definitely a bit of a forgotten car. Australia also got the Eunos 800M SP with sportier suspension!

When I was young my parents had Mazda's and they had a 626 (Mondeo) and this looks exactly like that cars big brother so I already thought it was cool. And then you got supercharger noises!! What an awesome find, great work.
