Before my mom goes into Hospice, we get 3 extra days with her. They require she have two signatures and I just cannot put my name on that. My dad understands and will take my brother to sign. I am grateful for these next three days. More than you will ever know!

I think she is, she mentioned in the very beginning of her explaining how the vlogs will be behind and will show the whole situations,, the video mentioned how she survived what should have been unsurvivable.. i may be wrong but I think she is still in the recovery process. This is so hard to watch after seeing her in all these videos being such an amazing and loving person. I can only imagine the pain you're going through and I can't give you any comfort even if I tried. Just know that thanks to you, her life has been appreciated by people throughout the whole world, and that can't be said for everyone.

I know this has to be the most awful season of your life. She will always be with you! When you look at your children, you will see your Momma! Not easy! So sorry you all are going through this, that your mom is going through this. My Dad battled a difficult illness for a few years and it was hard to watch him suffer. Making the decision of taking him off the machine was more painful than I could imagine. It’s almost 10 years now since then and on the rare occasion I think did I , we do the right thing. What I remember him saying to me at one point was, “you have to let me go” 😢 he knew he would not get better and didn’t want to be on any machines. I pray for you during this pain. I pray your mom does not suffer and will be at peace when it is time.

I know this is really difficult. I lost my mom Lorretta Pickard to a house fire in Lakeland, Florida a little over 5 years ago. She was all over the local news as the firefighters did not do their job. If you look her up in a search engine, you can learn all about it. She was on a 911 call where she was told they were going to come rescue her for over 20 minutes. She died during the call. I hope and pray your mom makes it.

This is just so heart-wrenching. Just went through this with my 43-year-old nephew. He passed away a week ago today. His services are on 2/28/24. I am thankful that I didn't have to make the decision. Watching all of these videos brings me to tears. For you, for your family, your dad, brother, Zeb, and his husband. I see the pain worry and sadness in your eyes and send you love and strength and courage ....it so hard to see our loved ones so compromised an d challenged. My heart breaks for you....I too have had a similar time and experience . Take comfort that she is safe and finding her peace and rest back home with her Angels and her God. Oh Andrea, this must be the hardest thing. I really wish things could be different, but unfortunately this is the way of life. I’m so sorry. Treasure every moment you have with your mom & hold onto all the wonderful memories you have with her. Hospitals are such a cold, heartless place. The kids are remarkably strong. I’m happy your mom will no longer be suffering. I just feel sad for the rest of you. You’re handling all of this like a true warrior. Please take time to grieve. You need that for yourself. I know you want to be strong for everyone else, but you have to take care of yourself as well. ❤️

I feel like she's still in there and she hears everything. When Rafael was playing the video, I believe in my heart that when you said she's in pain, that she was actually feeling emotional. She hears you all. Moments before my mom passed away back in 1995, I was talking to her, telling her we were all there in the room and we loved her more than anything...and we saw tears falling. She couldn't speak or open her eyes, but she was there. So is your mother.

This one was the hardest for me to watch so far. Thank you for taking your kids to see Grandma. They are brave. My Grandma died from an brain aneurysm and my parents wouldn't let me go see her. They said they wanted me to remember her the way she was. I didn't understand because I did want to say goodbye. If this is what it is they will be thankful later they got to because I didn't get to.

I was a young teen when my grandmother passed from cancer. She was only 58. She had hospice at home. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer the next year. He lived for 4 years. He went to the ER at the very end and passed away there. Losing people to health problems is so hard because they do suffer and you can only do so much to help them. My child has lost so many people in his 8 years of life. My grandpa passed away at home on hospice Then my husband's dad passed away from Covid in the hospital. He was in good health prior to this so it was a shock. He got Covid and 3 weeks later he was gone. Covid progressed his wife's alzheimers. So she is in assisted living. Then my grandma on my dad's side passed a year and a half ago. My son was old enough to say goodbye. Now my son only has one grandmother, my mom. All of that to say, I know this has been extremely hard for you and your children. I can't imagine having to make the decision to withdraw care when her mind is still ok. But if she is in pain with no way to recover, I understand why. We don't want the people we love to suffer. We never get enough time.

I understand and respect your stance on the hospice issue and removing the trach. You are so strong for yourself and your children. I haven't seen Zeb in any of the videos about Grandma, so I wanted to extend some healing energy and strength to help him through this devastating situation. Rafeal and Abigail seem to have a very good understanding, though. Thanks to good parenting. They will appreciate your not sheilding them from it more later in life and that the fact that you're documenting it, as well. As you know, one must be their own Shepard or a loved one's when it comes to our healthcare system, especially in hospitals. So many mistakes are made daily, and patients and their needs are overlooked for numerous reasons, none of which are acceptable! Institutions put in place to help the sick are now understaffed and governed by the insurance machine. Good job doing your research, staying on top of things, and still treating your mother like the human being with feelings and dignity!❤️‍🩹

I appreciate your saying that. When I was a kid, the teachers hid the space shuttle blowing up and I always resented them for that because I would have liked to see it and feel those feelings, not be shielded from them. Grandma is always going to be grandma, disabilities or not, and if I was a kid, I would want as much time with her as possible. I won't let them see her in distress but I know she wants them around her just by how she reacts. I give my kids a lot of credit and they are all handling it well. Zeb and Joseph go up to see her when they wake up and when they get off work. Both of those times don't intertwine with when I'm available to go up. I spend about 2 hours a day with her. The kids come in for the first 15 to 30 min and then they go to a park and play.

Hospice gives everything necessary to keep you're mom comfortable, once they come off ventilator. That's the way it worked with my inlaws. They were kept very comfortable for their last days and breath. Best wishes..Gigi

1John 1:15~ isn't that a powerful reminder, of all days & times I'm sure you're thinking. Same goes for that rainbow, faint as it is....keeps hope alive in my mind somehow. Not sure what or why I'm even saying this...mostly because there just are no words. So many people want to ease your pain, and it's truly so personal & raw for you~ there's no real way, imho. I'm so angry for you. Doctors can just make a mistake and ruin lives and go on with their lives. In the beginning it seemed like they cared then after their mistake they were like okay its a lost cause. Ugh. My heart hurts so bad for yall. I'm so sorry you are going through this.
