I totally understand Rodrigo’s fascination with construction, buildings and architecture. Many years ago I took a bricklaying course. I wasn’t able to finish it but I learned to admire talented bricklayers and I started noticing good and bad bricklaying jobs. Mortar, beautifully applied brought me joy. I admired creative and fancy brickwork.

11:07- Well, Panama is somewhat midway between where the Mayans and Inca civilizations built enormous cities including pyramids and temples out of stone- the Inca knew how to fit gigantic rocks into walls together like jigsaw pieces that proved to be earthquake proof that have lasted many centuries - and without any mortar! Yes, Istanbul (which is the latest name for the ancient Greek city of Byzantium) and its buildings have seen many unexpected twists over millenia. Oh, I hope you got to hop over to Asia while you were there since Istanbul has sections spanning the Bosporus Strait which marks the 'border' between Europe and Asia! Amazing to experience these sights and places (and I hope you will consider venturing to Spain which also has many mountains and has had many civilizations calling it home from even before the Phoenicians). Thanks for this!

Make sure you take Rod to Luebeck while you're there. I hope you have the chance to take him to some Weinachts Markts -- the city takes on an entirely different vibe at that time of year. I used to live in Bremerhaven and then in a little "dorf" outside of Bremen. I worked all over northern Germany (including Hamburg), and loved my time there. So. much for Rod to see! Viel Spass!

I lived in Turkey for 5 years in late 60’s and early 70’s. I loved it.

I completely understand Freddies bemusement at Rodrigo's excitement at everything new (even the mundane) its funny him getting exciting about Kebab, a food we eat at 3pm after a night of drinking.... Also I hope her family was as well prepared for Rodrigo's energy levels, most Germans I know are very reserved

I've been filled with anticipation to finally see the videos of your travels and visit to Germany. It's so much fun to see the 1st time someone is exposed to a whole new part of the world with their different architecture, customs and way of life. I can hardly wait to see you enjoy Christmas German style. Unfortunately, I've never been, but it's where my great grandparents on both sides of my family emigrated from in the early 20th century, around the time of World War one. Because of the customs my great grandmother brought with her that got carried on through the generations, I always felt very attached to my German roots. Still hope to make it there someday.

America has a standard plugin system. The third prong is to ground the object. Yeah, when I was traveling around I had to carry different plugs for Indonesia and Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam. Then I had so many plugs that I forgot what goes with what country. Lol.

Im an aircraft maintenance planner for a big airline and I love watching other peoples journeys to get where they are going. If you only knew all that goes on behind the scenes to get a large commercial aircraft from point A to point B you would be shocked. Lots of people involved in getting you there.

Rodrigo's excitement is contagious. I watched this video with a big smile on my face ... until the landing in Deutschland and the mood became much more subdued. And what about the whispering ... who's listening? As Pink Floyd sang: "Is anybody out there?"

When I was a child in middle school ( Grade 5or6 ) They tried to teach all school children around America the metric system but adults and children got very upset and we refused to change. I was one of those bratty children that refused to change. More than 90% of Americans refused to change and so we don't use it for most things. We use it for measuring soda ( 1leter or 2 leters ) Or temperature and weight of a patient in the hospital. And marathon foot races (10k, 20k..) And a few other places here and there. But mostly we remain stubborn, and sometimes arrogant in our country. We quote, "If it's not broken, don't fix it."

Istanbul Türkiye aka Constantinople is the most populated city in Türkiye and one of the oldest cities in the world. It’s in Europe and Asia, it just depends where you are standing. Now you are in Germany, been there but only for a short visit. I do want to go back and spend time because my ancestors on my Moms side are from Germany. The town of Schimmel is where they are from and their last name was Schimmel. I need to do a little more research on that.
