Im sure someone has already mentioned this but one of the great grandfathers of all RTS games was a Dune game.

AJ leaving those units in the desert and ultimately losing most of them is peak AJ.

21:30 you do have nukes it’s in the espionage tab. But also generally you don’t win purely through military but through a combo of intel, diplo, and military.

Everytime I see Spice Wars I picture Terry Crews as a General defending a huge deposit of Old Spice 😂 Also the game looks pretty fun.

I remember my Dad had a boxed copy of Dune II Building of a Dynasty for DOS. It wasn't until I was older that I found out that game was the origin of the RTS genre as we know it. Dune has a history with strategy games.

I used to play a Dune strategy game on PC way back in the early 90s. It was pretty much like Star Craft and was good. Pretty sure that's where they got the idea of Starcraft.

I've been watching angry Joe for a few years now. I'm shocked that their sub count isn't higher and also confused as to how and why it hasn't increased that much. They are genuinely entertaining and great content creators and I appreciate and trust all their reviews. I hope to see them hit 10 mil one day.

Not "just" 4X but 4X real-time? That's really rare and seems to be the ultimate model for a strategy game to try to pull off. (Maybe it's a trite trend with narrow conventions already, which I just wasn't aware of, however. The merciless Indie machine can subsume anything under its rule.)

There was a series of Dune RTS computer games back in the early 90's and had a remake back in the year 2000 by Westwood games. Wow, an RTS made by the same people who made Command & Conquer. I wonder whatever happened to Westwood, EA!

Hey Joe, first off you can destroy enemy Rocket Towers, second, pillaging or taking over towns takes longer when your units are in combat, so what you can do is sweep all towns close to each other and deostroy their Artillery. Then you just take Two team into each town and plunder them :3

They could quite easily expand on this game. And considering their past work, I think lots of mini expansions are a given. Think Dreadnaught and Battle Tanks. I hope they make the worms a little more dangerous. Maybe give them more of a physical presence, have them roam the map visibly making crossing certain areas more dangerous.

I have like 2,000 hours in a single Gladius: Relics of War campaign but that's mostly because I leave it running when I'm at work.

I always thought the aim of 4X rts was to build a world so big your fps drops to 2.

The game looks great. I am going to wait for them to add more features and units until I buy. It seems like this is the kind of game where you can have a LOT of fun with artillery so I really, really hope they add some.

dune games have always been great, really loved dune the adventure game and dune 2 was an amazing rts because of the world (spice, sandworms, tanks) even though its a bit dated now technically. Always sit back a bit with the early access titles though will get later

Use your Agents, De-buff weapons.... You can poison areas, and ever steal 50% of their production. Level 2 and 3 agents in certain fields of work, can even produce Atomics and elite mercenary raids. You can also meet certain requirements in the landslide to hire Their troops using only influence and water. Or you can even Vote on giving your enemy, a +100% damage receiving gift lol. Your voting and Agents are like having Mages that curse your rivals for months. Use the trade system to buy critical resources from your foe, then curse their lands. Fremen troops are godly in the sand, with the buff sandkiller {certain prefect at start, has this bonus}. They are even super godly if you have a military barracks up. 1 fremen hired army can wipe out 3-4 troops with the correct setup. When you fight open bases or occupied, attack their range first. Either damage them past 50% or just hit them a few times and then go after the troops. all range units get a big de-Buff from being touched by attacks { -50% }. Remember to use your voting and agents, along with planning attacks on large defenses.. If your foe beats you to getting Landslide troops your in trouble. These troops can't be De-buffed with any means. You or your foe can only lose the ability to buy them from someone voting "removing all attributes". Your power is not from your armies only, You can Vote, and Agent strike your foe to the stone age lol. "What i noticed" The reason the AI has lots of resources, is because he raids everything then trades a ton behind your back. Also in many cases your foe setups his captured lands perfectly, to max production. So the AI is not cheating he is just doing what you should be doing in the back ground, instead of capturing ground that does not help yet. Personally i hope they make the voting/tech tree/ and Agents with tons of extra options. There is only thing i would change as far as building on captured lands. You should be allowed to build more then 1 of the same building. The books and movies show more then one Spice harvester mining the fields at once. The programmer could make the second harvest say lose 20% collection. {give and take ordeal}. Granted the programmer might have to increase the build spots by 1 or 2 extra but at a high cost to the player/AI. Once you start using your other powers other then your troops, the game opens up to be a lot more fun. I hope they expand largely on this area of the game as a next patch, with the minor bug fixes. If they do add the last 3 nobles {Ix's/Ordos/Emperor/} they might have to increase the map. "granted Ordos are not related to the book or movie, just prior dune games" Sky's the limit right? :)

I really enjoy this game! Been playing it a good bit and they have big plans :D

I like how it feels like they took some lessons from Supreme Commander.

Did you guys ever play Emperor: Battle for Dune? This was an RTS game based on the it, I think made by the creators of Command and Conquer games. I'm surprised ya'll haven't mentioned it.

Use the Fremen caravan to make a FOB in far lands to mount sieges without losing supply, and they are invisible when in the AO of the caravan. 😁

I don’t see why nukes would be in the game bc In dune lore I thought nuclear warfare was banned by the emperor. only reserved for potential alien attacks. And any nations that uses nukes is then at war with every major house and emporium.

The developers of this game also developed Northgard. Northgard is such a fun RTS, very underrated imo. Looks like they are bringing alot of mechanics from it over into this game, with alot of new mechanics as well. This could be another great game from a smaller studio.

I only play Harkonnen because they bring sexy back. Or at least Sting did. And remember.. IF YOU WALK WITHOUT RHYTHM YOU WON'T ATTRACT THE WORM!

Shiro Games is one of the big up-and-coming dev studios to watch, Northgard was for sure one of the best stategy entries in last couple of years

The voice acting in this game reminds me of Empire at War I swear they used some of the same voice actors

Content creator called alt-shift-x recently made an epic comparison between the books and the new movie, I never read the books but my God from what I got from that video the movie does not do the books justice. The series is so deep can't wait to get into it

There is a kind of nuclear option in Dune yes. Yes, atomics. It does give you -200 Landsraad standing though.

Also use the purple/gold slider on the top left to make more money or store more Spice for the emperor

One of the best games ever was battle for Arrakis. This game has some balancing issues.
