I freakin' loved the kiss. You start to see the budding jealousy within Colin when Pen says she enjoyed talking to Lord Remington. Colin was like, "Oh shit. He's calling on her tomorrow AND she liked him? I'm not sure I like that for some reason." He began realizing in that moment that he might be fine with the gentlemen callers he was sending Penelope's way liking her, but he wasn't super thrilled about her liking any of them back. His face looked that way to me, at least. As a wheelchair user, I LOVED to see wheelchair user rep this season. Not only that, but for the character to be considered a worthwhile suitor to the main love interest, and not some charity case like most media does to us! Honestly, Eloise is not the greatest friend. You'll see even more examples as to why later.

idk if you noticed because it was so quiet (i didnt know until i looked it up) but when Pen is talking to Lord Remington (the one who loves gossip) and Colin was looking at them, an orchestra version of Jealous by Nick Jonas was playing in the background

Great reaction. I’m really enjoying this season. That kiss was beautiful. It’s so sad for her as it’s her first and last one in her mind, yet it’s what makes Colin realise his true feelings for her.

Exploring different personas is totally cool, I think that Pen and Eloise both notice that Colin seems to be doing it for the shallow approval of people whose opinions don’t really matter-he’s flattering and charming all these people, but that’s just quantity over quality. He’s not impressing anyone who cares or has half a brain, is the problem. He’s seeking meaning and approval but from the wrong people and for very shallow things. He goes on that charm offensive in the first party where he has a slick line for every young lady there, but he struggles to actually put his true heart out there, and I think that’s the growth he starts to have this season! ❤ He’s gotta find who he is and who he wants to be, but he needs to do it with some real integrity and reflection on his motives.
