@@user-gw6or8mh5wwhat does the right foot matter? I think the passes were hoping to see are long balls that Martinelli could run onto. The angle won’t matter as much. Also in the final third being on the right foot should help lead passes towards the net? Maybe I’m wrong just starting the video

10:44 spot on, George! IMO, under a different manager, Martinelli would have developed as a striker, pure and simple. I do feel like he’s learned a lot playing out on the wing, but it’s time to start getting the best out of Nelli. He either needs to move central or we need a system change if he stays out wide. He’s basically playing the graveyard shift out on the left. We’re absolutely wasting him in our current system.

Alex is right about saka's linear development being unique... He probably doesn't remember it well enough but this is what made cesc fabregas such a unicorn. Continuous improvement over 8 years, from a talent base and level that was already elite. Martinelli is at around 60-70% of saka's total minutes I think and he had long periods out of the side earlier on. Peaks, troughs, uncertainty and then finding new solutions are absolutely normal, and everything about his attitude suggests that Martinelli will just use this sticky period to deepen his bag
@vicwilliams1130
@vicwilliams1130 2 ай бұрын
totally agree. i just think it’s slightly disingenuous for him to credit sakas development to just saka when he’s had odegaard and ben white consistently working alongside him on the right, when martinelli doesn’t have a consistent triangle on the left which is definitely a factor reducing his overall output and effect on games from last szn.

Martinelli is an instinct player who operates in space BUT in situations where he’s not overburdened with decision making. His style is not one of a thinker or an analyst like Odegaard, Jorginho, or even Saka. You can even see that in his running style (eyes on the ball, barely looking up, constantly trying to run past his marker to the touchline). He’s a pure runner that’s suited to the way Manchester United or Liverpool play. However, this can be taught and he can learn to adapt his game; he just needs to receive enough support from the players around him to give him more opportunities to learn to look up and find teammates in space instead of trying to beat his man (even when he’s double teamed) or take a shot when there are better options.
@NakulKrishna
@NakulKrishna 2 ай бұрын
That’s why I feel it comes down to coaching for me when dealing with Martinelli. I agree, he’s a head down run at you kinda player, the coaches need to have a system that utilises his strengths and inform Nelli of when he can look up once and make that final pass or move. If they make the thinkers get into the positions that can hurt opponents, to occupy positions that once Martinelli breaks through, he can just put the ball into or have someone make a dummy run so he can make the move himself. You can see so many instances where he breaks through and he’s not got a straightforward “thing to do”. When he’s got too many choices he overthinks and runs. He needs to know the one thing to do once he gets the better of someone in different situations.

I think everyone forgets that even during Martinellis best season where he had Xhaka behind him offering support and overlaps. Arteta was willing to spend £80million on Mudryk to upgrade the position. Mudryk would have been a starter if Arteta spent that much on him. The reality is now we are being linked to Leoal i dont think he comes with a €175m release clause. But the reality is our manager belives he can upgrade on the left. We paid £6m for martinelli and arsenal would definitely entertain an offer from PSG in the summer. If it meant we could bag a £60-70m profit.

If timber is able to cross it from the left or make those cut back passes similar to Ben white from the left. Then we could switch which player we invert during the match and the one not inverting can hold the width like White does when Zincheko plays. I think as long as we’re inverting a full back we won’t be able to hold width on both sides without using a winger.

Why it came to a topic about Martinelli? Is there an agenda behind by the internal source undertaking aganist him? Among all the left wingers in the squad, who could deliver the performance as stable as Martinelli as a left winger position in the league this season? I really do not think Jesus and Trossard can do the same thing like him when either one of them played as a winger. The runs Martinelli made on the wing that had actually drawn the defenders attentions and is a quite effective way to break the offside line of the defensive side and in response to that the opponent needs to drop their defensive line much deeper so as to defend his runs. His runs and gameplay actually benefit us for the control of the game as a whole. Why no one going to mention this point and saying he should move to the central position? He can't play false 9 as good as Havertz. At this moment, the current challenge we are facing is we need a new Cesc with the football intelligence in the central midfield more than anything, either Arteta is going to buy a new one in the transfermarket or giving more chance to ESR to develop him as a new cesc that is the thing that Arteta needs to think about the whole team development and succession. For Vieria I suggest to sell him he has indeed a very good technique skills but his positioning, the overall phsycial strength and the football intelligence are not yet up to the standard.

Lets stop being too nice to Martinelli, he has not improved in the final ball, he will get 1 out of 7/8 right, he never does something diff, its the same moves, he barely crosses, he barely goes outside and shoot, he always goes in and just crosses without looking. He has one or two great games but then fades away, he missed some easy goals too. He needs to improve, and he needs to do it fast. He isn't improving like Saka. But he is a player we absolutely must have.

Ironically, this is all still a issue from central midfield. I think Havertz’s great form occupying central zones has masked the fact that he was developing really well at left no. 8 and probably could sacrifice some of his end product to improve his link up play from midfield. Although, I do think that a superstar left back who can invert and overlap like White can is another solution. Whether that is in fact Timber, or another player, I don’t know.

The right pod would work perfectly, if not better, without Odegaard. Havertz/Vieira/ESR are all better suited to Saka's skillset than O. Even Ben White's best quality is on the ball, not his running. Moving Odegaard to the left solves so many issues, idk why it's not been done yet. Look at the assists He's provided from the left. You won't find anything similar from the right.

Vinicious junior provided 2 assists for Madrid against CITY. Vinicious junior played for the team. Martinelli doesn't play for the team, dribble dribble, looking on the grasses till the ball is wasted. Martinelli can not overthrow Vinicious junior in the Brazilian team. Vinicious Jn is productive, matured and inspired his team mate. Martinelli is the opposite 😮. Make a case for him, no sensible players will give Martinelli ball if he refused to give back the ball at the right time. Dec Rice fir instance will give Martinelli few balls because Dec Rice knows Martinelli will waste the ball, dribble and over dribble out of play when players are waiting for return pass in a scoring position. It hurts, if I am Martinelli team mate, I will give him few balls and gibe more balls to players who used the ball better. Period. Guys this is the problem with Martinelli , not about moving Martinelli away from left. He needs to check his decision making. Intelligent team mates will never give Martinelli balls because he will not return the ball at the right time

Martinelli can’t play as a 9. No idea why anyone sees this in his game. He’s not strong enough to hold off top cbs and link play. At best he’s a Jamie Vardy with his Pace in behind but since we are a team who squeeze games and don’t play in transition very often he’s not the right fit for a number 9 for us. 😂😂😂There’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with Martinelli! Or any player in our team. Martinelli plays better in certain games with certain specific scenarios; we see his best game against teams that dominate possession and push their defense high up against us. Now, he’s been injured and Arteta did well not to rush him. The 2nd and biggest thing is the way we play; we totally dominate teams and overwhelm them and push them so deep that they’re literally inside their box; so no room for Martinelli to run behind. He’s not a Trossard. You “talked about Trossard”… and then he wasn’t scoring a lot and again, during those assessments, you didn’t note the main reason. We have ZERO problem with goals, we are the best team defensively. There are so many talking points about what’s going well in this team. Focus on what is going well; don’t look for issues when there are none.

Martinelli is not half as skillful on the ball as Figo, Ronaldinho, Neymar, ViniciusJr, DouglasCosta, Coman, Gnabry, Sane, Mahrez, Hleb, Nasri or Sanchez. Martinelli needs the tricks, skills and creativity from Jesus, and he needs the silky touch, tekky close control, and magical tiki taka passes from Zinchenko. Martinelli and Saka are too efficient, simple and direct. We are now a title challenging team, we need wide players who can complicate things up for the opponent, creating chaos.

Cr7 on the same position, Messi on his position, Sallah, Vinicious Jn, among others are so consistent in their wings. Martinelli is over pampered and that is y the content is also about him. Look at the UCL against Bayern, Martinelli was in the middle and the only opportunity to announce himself on the big stage, he shot off target in a scoring position for intelligent forward. I was amazed he dare lifts his hands up telling fans to roar, to cheer the team. U shot wide instead of putting the ball in the net and Martinelli is asking fan to cheers😂. Go watch his action clearly. Nelli believe he has a regular shirt ahead of Trossard , he thinks he is anointed to play even when he waste balls and over dribble out of play for balls meant to cross or pass for players in good scoring position. If Martinelli had scored from that good opportunity from 15 yards directly facing the Bayern keeper, his name and praise would have been all over the media. He played it wide and gesticulating to fans to cheers them. So disgusting, ....u don't have many opportunity at that level to win the UCL. Childish
