I think the route of the clone could be how it was handled in Superman the animated series. Lex made a clone of Superman that was identical but started to deteriorate and turned into Bizarro.

Yup, that would be a great way to do it. Maybe prior to the events of the movie, Superman's early heroics messed up Luthor's operations,which comibined with the eventual popularity Superman gets from the general public could be the basis for Luthor's hatered for Superman. Luthor could have tried to persuade Superman to work for him as a way to get him under control, Superman of course refuses. So then Luthor decides to create his own Superman(which he might codname 'Ultraman' because he considers his creation to be superior), and use his creation to discredit the real Superman along the way. The clone starts out as a succes, but then he starts to deteriorate both physically and mentally, becoming Bizarro.

The Bizzaro in Superman the animated series was a Superman clone that broke down. Which they could use as an outline. Then it’s about having commentary of the Homelanders and Omnimans and the idea of Superman. Then that DNA clone stuff can be used in Cadmus for Superboy Conner Kent. And that could lead to Teen Titans with Tim Drake. And if Drake is with the Titans, then Damian can be with Bruce. Dick is Nightwing. And have the door open for a Red Hood movie.

It sounds similar to BvS where Luthor is trying to sway public opinion on Superman with an overseas incident. In BvS, Luthor draws Superman into the incident by using Lois. In Gunn's Superman, Luthor is using a clone of Superman to create the incident and make Superman look bad.

I’d imagine it’ll go something like this: Lex will hire The Engineer to fight Superman, make him bleed, and get a blood sample. She didn’t ask questions and therefore doesn’t know what for. Eventually she finds out and goes “nah this is way too much, I’m out”, with Lex being like “nevermind, you already have me what I needed”. Then he creates Bizarro/Ultraman to be the big final punch up of the film, leaving him as the mastermind behind it all.

As a professional graphic designer, I definitely see why people think the Joker poster looks “fake.” Something really artificial about the lighting, and even the makeup on them. Way too much ‘inner glow’ going on and heightened light and shadow. Clearly this wasn’t just a photo they took (which usually isn’t the case for MOST comicbook movie posters, but the first movie was so grounded and practical and the posters fit that in practice.) I confused this with a Boss logic post when I first saw it (ZERO disrespect to him btw) Still a good poster in concept, the execution is just a bit wonky. Idk why they couldn’t take any promotional pics with them dancing in similar lighting

But I don't want it to be like they already have a lot of experience and certain character development already happened. Basically, somewhat like Tom Hollands Spidey in the MCU

About joker 2... one would think that after all those "michael keaton would be a terrible batman" and all those "heath ledger as the joker??" and all those "no one asked for/need a joker origin movie", etc, we should be at a place as a species where we all go "maybe I should shut the f*ck up until I watch the thing". And thinking a movie's gonna be bad and then be surprised at how good it actually was is a great feeling. The only problem is that humans don't like to be proven wrong, so that only works if you keep your thoughts to yourself. Once you talk to everybody or made videos about how much a movie's gonna suck then it's much more difficult to admit you were wrong, because you've doubled down on it so much. And it doesn't matter the movie or how good it is, you'll always find reasons to not like it, specially if you go into it looking for reasons to be right. And that's what separates movie fans from non movie fans. Movie fans don't want to be right, we just want every movie to be good.

I feel like if Superman is just appearing it wouldn't make sense to have a clone yet, but maybe have Lex moving in that direction and have the clone appear in the second or third film, or perhaps in a team up movie. This clone idea raises the question of how Lex would get Superman's DNA in the first place, so perhaps that's going to be part of the plot in the this film. We can't just have convenient things happening without explanation.

I don’t mind the clone concept but I do think it’s a lot for a first film, I feel it could end up confusing for general audiences. And I feel having the concept of a clone he has to fight is more impactful after we get to know and care more about this version of Superman beyond the first movie but on the other hand there are people who expect some high level fight scenes and don’t think him having to go up against just the Engineer would deliver that 🤔 it’s all just rumor so not trying to look too deep into it lol

Seems possible with the cloning story for James Gunn's Superman. Honestly though, I am unsure about this whole cloning/Ultraman story. Do we want to see Superman fight someone who has a similar power as him in the first movie for the DCU? The last Superman movie, Man of Steel, Superman fought Zod and the other Kryptonians. I want to see other villains to get the spotlight. I don't want the main villain to be the opposite of the hero but with the same power. I don't mind if Lex does clone Superman down the road in the DCU. Is it possible there will be Red Hood and The Outlaws in the DCU? We're getting the Bat-Family and there's Paradise Lost series. Red Hood, Artemis, Bizzaro, and Arsenal as the team for the DCU would be great to see.

This will be it.. makes perfect sense considering the emojis used when NH was announced as Lex. Plus the absence of a main 'villain'. I can see Bizarro. I'm pretty deflated about this. Was championing all things Superman so far... but 'cloning Supes' just seems so uninspiring. So many other stronger options to use to launch this new DCU than Supes v Supes (Can't wait for a return to the junk yard scene ;) IYKYK

Lex Luthor also created the obscure villain Galactic Golem, a cosmic synthetic being made out of either dark energy or dark matter. Not saying that's who it is, but considering Gunn affection for little known DC characters it's not impossible.

I would def like to see lex make metallo. Where he is powered by something else in the first part of the movie. And made of nano tech. Where he is hard to destroy along with many copies of them. As he tries to make his own vigalante for metropolis. Then toward the middle close to end lex finds a small portion of kryptonite to power the main metallo. As supes gets help from others as he is weakened. Showing how they have changed their mind about him.

The clone will probably be bizzaro because they might save the ultraman and crime syndicate storyline for a justice league movie down the line. They could embrace the multiverse in chapter 3 or 4 and do a earth 3 crime syndicate vs justice league movie idk.

Also don’t forget they might have Luthor wanting to be the protector with his tech and money and superman is trying to lead by example and so on. Supergirl is a little uncontrollable until her journey in woman of tomorrow. Hopefully Gunn gives Kara a good earth name and she’s a Kent. Like maybe they pretend she’s Martha’s great niece whose parents died.

If I was to make a Superman trilogy Lex Luthor would create Metallo from 'alien parts', Eradicator appears to be an ally but is scouting the planet, and then it turns out that it was all Brainiac's technology (similar to how he took over Lex's body in Justice League Unlimited). Lex is far more interesting not only as a threat you cannot punch away, in fact he is largely untouchable by the law as well, but due to his ego he will even sometimes be an ally to Superman, like if the Earth was under threat.

I have a love hate relationship with this concept. I’ll try to explain why on each end- Love: If this is true, this could perhaps be Bizzaro’s theatrical debut. Having him be the villain of a Superman movie could be really fun and show the audiences something new- and it’s definitely something James Gunn could pull off. Keep in mind he IS the guy who brought Starro to the big screen and made him both fun and tragic. And like Boba said, this could show off the genius science side of Lex, something we don’t see much of. And while many people are arguing this could have us lose the whole hero v anti hero plot inspired by Kingdom Come, I’d be inclined to disagree. If Bizarro is made by Lex to either be his Superman or even incriminate Superman, you can still touch on the greater themes of what is modern heroism. Certainly I’d prefer an adaption of Superman vs The Elite, this could still be a pleasant alternative. Hate: This Ultra - Man crap better not be true. What the hell? If you’re gonna make Bizarro a villain, make him a villain. But also, I don’t think it’s cool to basically have David Corenswet playing three roles (Superman, Clark, Bizarro). This is his breakout movie and you’re kinda placing a lot on him here! Not to say he’s incapable, but that’s a lot!

6:30 - Don't hate musicals. My gripe with making Joker 2 a musical is the change midstream. I hate when directors get all artsy fartsy and change mid-franchise.

Ultraman could turn into Bizaro over time. Maybe the DNA starts to fall apart, and he ends up looking like how Bizaro looks. Also, Lex might make Ultraman not because he hates Superman like he does in the comics but just wants to profit off of Superman so he makes his own. Then Superman stops ultraman and Lex and that makes Lex fully be like "this guy has to go."

Do you think that with the Engineer there, Luthor would actually end up using here to create a android that looks like superman? I can see him making one that starts behaving like Ultraman and then starts deforming overtime, with tons of prosthetics on David, Gunn loves those, and ends up looking like and behaving like Bizarro by the end of the movie, like a malfunctioning machine. That would be 3 evil superman "clones" (Cyborg Superman, Ultraman and Bizarro) merged into one character that is probably more believable to the average moviegoer. For me a robot works better than cloning since you can unleash the action sequences without worrying about the ethics on superman destroying another "natural life". To stretch even more this theory of mine not only it ties in with the Engineer but can also connect to Brainiac. Imagine if brainiac was the AI operational system (consciousness) of this robot clone of superman that leaves the body by the end of the movie and becomes something "bigger" like the brainiac we know. Anyways "painting animals in the clouds" here and having some fun with this theory. Thanks for the content Boba.

Joker 2 poster thoughts: LOVE the simplicity in composition. Really poor execution. As someone who's made A LOT of posters and works in Photoshop constantly, it's really easy to tell which parts are photobashed and mashed together. It definitely doesn't look seamless. Superman clone theory: I unfortunately really do not like the sound of this idea. I'm quite tired of the evil Superman idea, no matter what way you slice it. I know Snyder's Universe didn't really have an evil Superman apart from the Nightmare scenes, but I would MUCH prefer if the film's main antagonist was either Lex Luthor exclusively as the big bad, OR the antagonist is more of a mindset/not a real character/person. Unfortunately though this does seem like this clone theory may actually happen considering James has mentioned al the main on-screen roles have already been announced and cast *sigh*

While I do believe that The batman pt 2 and TBATB can coexist you have to admit that they only get in the way of each other. It would make sense that WB would want one major definitive batman. Technically you could canonize The Batman but have james gunn’s new dcu take place many years after The Batman. That way we can still have an experienced aged batman for TBATB but it’s technically still the same batman we are watching in The Batman pt 2. I know it's a little outlandish but it would make every side happy. Casual fans can understand that batverse movies are prequel movies to the new dcu and they will undoubtedly care more for prequels then else world. It can be fun for The Batman fans to see batverse continue past the initial trilogy in the dcu. WB has more incentive to continue the trilogy. Robert Pattinson can stay in the role as the older dcu batman or a different actor can be cast as “older batman”, matt reeves still has tons of creative freedom if his batverse becomes a prequel (it’d be fun to compare how grounded the batverse was in his early years vs 20 years into being batman). I know it’s probably way too late for this idea but it’s cool to think about.

What if since lex Luther isn’t the main villain , what if he finds a way to use Zod’s corpse DNA to create doomsday and we get the death of Superman story? We haven’t seen that before so could be interesting
