Yeah, it's also in that same category of "you're so mature for your age", it's in the toolbox of predators that make the victim feel they're special to this person &emotionally manipulate them. It's gross. The reason they don't have friends their age is because they're either wanting to control others and therefore need a younger target, or they aren't up to the standards of their peers in development so they need to be social with people more their speed. I'm willing to bet, it's the 1st one though.

They were raised very sheltered. Mostly homeschooling, super Christian... like her parents were afraid of Halloween back in the 80s/90s that's how Christian they were. Colleen went to a Christian college where she met Kory. I think she slowly became more open minded after she became a youtuber. But Colleen strikes me as someone who was very emotionally stunted in her 20s.

@@cheesyDELISH48oh, yeah, that's very clear cut. I was raises only loosely Christian (Baptist people are a lot more modern and open minded generally speaking so I lucked out) And this is why I feel like the Duggars and people like them are breeding an army of actual demons. Sure there are exceptions, but not a single one of them is better off that way, it's a bubble of abuse and fear. I know Trent has autism, which affects his understanding of socially appropriate behavior (as in, how the average person would behave in a given situation, not failing to understand that he shouldn’t be creepy to minors). I used to be a coach to a team of young girls and if ANYONE spoke to them this way I’d have to have a very serious talk with their parents to formalize a game plan moving forward to keep them safe (and begin documentation should something happen). I’m still ride or die for those kids even though I don’t coach them anymore. A couple have reached out to me after getting my number off of their parents phones and you know what I did? TEXTED THEIR FUCKING PARENTS TO LET THEM KNOW. I’ve got no business being friends with a 14 year old. I’m happy to hear from them when they’re adults, but until they’re 40 we will still literally have nothing in common but the sport I coached them in. I’m confident in my thinking that this dude is a straight up p word. Not allowed to talk to people under 18? And your FAMILY told you that?? This is a consistent enough issue that the fucking FAMILY HAD TO MAKE THAT RULE FOR HIM??? Every single one of those texts read like a middle schooler pushing the boundaries of the person they have a crush on. Like holy fuck.

There's a reason why contracts will have stipulations about how you can interact with clients, students, and the like. Because things can get fishy very fast. And even if you have no ill intentions, all it takes is one accusation or offhand comment to screw up everything. Ideally the authority figures (teachers, doctors, etc.) know not to get too personal, but if rules are needed then so be it. At best, his friendship and interactions with these fans is pathetic and creepy. At worst, it gets into child predator territory. What the heck is wrong with this family?

My drama teacher was the same way. I was a part of the drama club which she was the supervisor/leader and she was very adamant about none of the students friending her on Facebook or contacting her in anyway after hours. Once we graduated high school and turned 18 and everything, fine, she would accept our Facebook requests but she still keeps the relationship very professional and surface level. In high school, I understood to an extent why she did this, but I didn't understand the full scope of the situation until I was way older. It's so disturbing when full ass grown adults try to play something like is off as a 'mistake' and that 'they didn't know better'. Honey, we have a lot more problems than if that's true. Which it's not. It's bullshit and it's disgusting.

EXACTLY my thought. What had to have happened for his family to literally disallow him talking to children. It’s not like that’s a normal ask, if they were concerned about fans in general (because they were afraid fans might spin something he said or were aware of the obvious power dynamic) then he wouldn’t specify that he’s not allowed to talk to people under 18. The family had to have seen something to set such a clear boundary.

So, as someone who has been trained to recognize sexual grooming, especially online sexual grooming, I can tell you that Trent's actions are not just creepy or weird. Every single action he takes in these messages are signs of sexual grooming. I'm not saying that what Colleen or Kory did was okay (they need to be held accountable), but Trent's actions are on another level. These messages are extremely dangerous and I believe these actions warrant an official investigation by the police. I think people online should be framing the situation with Trent differently, instead of just lumping things in with Colleen's situation and just using Trent's messages to further vilify her. What Colleen did was wrong, but what Trent did might be criminal.

Because even wholesome pictures can be manipulated.

Exactly. Wanting to educate children, and mentoring them is completely valid. There was 100% a way for Colleen to make Miranda a good role model for kids, including her two books, but I don't think educating and mentoring children is why she made this. Sooo are we to pretend that the family outright disallowing Trent to speak to minors is normal? This is something that adults just don’t do, because why would you talk to kids you don’t know. People can say what they want about Collen's conversations but you can't look at her brother's DMs and see it as anything OTHER than grooming. Telling Oliver not to tell anyone about their convos, this countdown multiple times to their age, multiple talks about their sexuality, sexual things etc. When i was in college i did this high school mentorship program for my senior project and became a mentor to teens that were homeschooled and ranged from 14 to 18. I treated them like my little brothers and sisters. To even discuss relationship, sexual things is insane. It was one thing if i gave them the adult lecture to not do stuff but if they did to please be safe, on top of also lecturing the girls if anyone touched them inappropriately to always tell someone they trust about it and not let anyone touch them in such a way. But to ask they orientation and ask for a video? And apparently there's another girl he used to message as well! If i were law enforcement I'd get a hold of his laptop

Then there's Kory, I don't know much about him, like I said, didn't care for Colleen or her inner circle, but he needs to go to jail. He's so disgusting. Trent, still don't know much about him, he's disgusting too.

I’m not saying at all that autism is an excuse for ignoring boundaries with a minor, but he has autism. If you’ve ever seen a video of him (I used to watch Colleen’s vlogs), he not to be socially delayed. I have to wonder how aware he was that what he was doing was inappropriate. That doesn’t change the fact that what he was doing was inappropriate.

You can definitely tell these people are stunted in their development because, idk, they were sheltered and now they’re cool and have all the friends. I think about like, my niece and nephews who are in high school and they don’t want to talk to my old ass and idk what I would have in common with a high schooler. I mean I’ll kick your ass for them but I’m a 35 year old mom lol I’m cool but not that cool. Or “cool” in the inappropriate way with these weirdos.

I never understood why Coleens circle revolved around minors anyway? I know she’s a kid content creator but it’s not like Ms Rachel has a group chat w/ toddlers discussing future video topics. It’s just so weird & inappropriate, then & now. Also no grown man has business talking to a minor unless for specific circumstances but no matter the circumstances no grown person should EVER tell a minor to keep a secret with or for them. Predator behavior.

Trent is a creep This is how you talk to anybody when you're trying to get in a relationship with them or trying to get sexual with them which by the way is often what narcissists do and predators even to grown women so take note of that. But doing it to a child is a whole another level of illegal

This is demented abusive and toxic and it should have been reported as a crime because wasn't Johnny underage even if he wasn't underage that is a despicable way to treat anybody let alone an employee but when you consider if he was a child that's straight up abuse first of all that grown man shouldn't be in a room with him anyhow and the fact that he gets mad just over a little key? That's a true sign of a narcissist and yes that's grooming as well groomers like to love bomb you just like narcissist of course and then devalue you. Oh I see he was like 22 yeah this is a version of human trafficking I mean he could leave thankfully but they treated him like a human trafficking victim That is absolutely disgusting these people like Colleen have a lot of money and this is how she treats people? I mean this is just sick This is some sick sick s*** these people are truly sick and you're telling me her mom her parents and her sister and all these people knew this was going on towards employees?

I was much older when I first encountered her videos which I only watched a few of because I was trying to keep track of what was being suggested for my kids. Part of me thinks she struck me as not a good person was because of my age but my kids didn’t like her either. None of this is surprising to me but I do feel bad for her fans finding out who she really is. I know it is just a para- social relationship with social media but as someone that figured out their hero(family)was actually a turd it can sting.

Hello! Not defending Kory at all and I am not his fan; everyone surrounding Colleen disgusts me. However, he did not name the chat. Basically it was a group of Kory’s fans that made a chat and then added him, hoping that he’d engage with them…..and he unfortunately did. All of this was confirmed on the Colleen snark Reddit by a former member of the chat. Now Kory should have told them the name was inappropriate and change it. He also should’ve just not engaged with the minors… but yeah. Just not a fan of misinformation
