Today we visit beautiful Omodos Village, Omodos is located about 42 kilometres north-west of the city of Limassol, in the geographical region of the wine-making villages. It is built near the west bank of the Cha-potami river at an average altitude of 810 meters.
The countryside in Cyprus is blessed with natural and man-made beauty with an abundant historical heritage. Its beautifully unique natural environment is complemented by its traditional villages and architecture which lend it a special character and are always welcoming of visitors in the traditional warm and hospitable Cypriot way. Omodos village , Once you get away from the tourist trap that is the town, with its gift shops and pushy restaurant staff, the monastery is an oasis of calm. The courtyard is beautiful with elegantly designed arches. The church is beautifully ornate decorated in gold plate and painted images and contains some religous artifacts.
Be aware that you are asked not to take images inside the church.
