A bit strange that both tony & sam can't see why an Alpina is a version to choose different from an M-product? Alpina is literally the opposite of an M-Product. Where an M5 is focused on handling , power , speed , and hardcore driving, an alpina B5 for example is focused on luxurious, relaxed , fast highway driving... It has softer suspension, always comes with a traditional autobox ,the interior is more plush, the power comes in relatively smooth... M-PRODUCTS are for the more track focused, spirited b-roads drivers , whereas Alpina's are the more luxurious ,smoother highway cruisers.. it's always been like that... Great podcast guys ! Keep it up 🔥🔥🔥

Sam you criticised the 997 Turbo S owner for tuning his car but you tuned your 991 Carrera T to over 500 Hp. Don’t see the issue tuning the car if it improves the performance.

Simple Formula! Perfect 997TTS = Stock 997TTS + Aftermarket Exhaust System (improved sound & engagement) + Tune (Optimize for exhaust, local fuel and climate & eliminate ECL’s. More hp a byproduct, not necessary, but good!)

Alpinas' in Australia aren't common as they only began to officially sell them in 2017 (hence my dads car being a 2017 model and also the first customer delivered model in Australia). As a result of a poor reception in the car market, their values also haven't done very well. For reasons as to why you would buy one over the M variant (especially the F series M4) is the ride quality and power delivery is much more tuned towards comfort and touring, making a better every day car, but still having the power to really have some fun. thanks for talking about the car!

The B3 touring I’d suggest is a better all rounder than an M3 Touring. Still ballistic but rides well, looks a bit more subtle and will remain more exclusive as in comparison they will sell way more M cars. People who buy ALPINA cars tend to do relatively big mileages in them and keep them for longer as they are not frequently bought on 3 year finance packages. I always wanted an Alpina but have never been interested in M cars. I think they are a far more interesting proposition.

Yes to the 918 giveaway. OR a better idea for the subscribers that contribute: sell the 918, and buy three 911s and give those away (like a 911 Turbo, a GTS, and a Carrera S). So more people get to get a chance to win a car.

I really think you should find fascination in the Pre-WWII cars…There wasn’t much coverage, because there were only magazines and newspapers… Pre-War cars are a whole new chapter…car guys were alive and innovative and excited, then as now… Let me suggest Avions-Voisin as a true eye-opener..? The PAGANI of the 1930’s… Also, HOTCHKISS…the birth of the Sport-Sedan…winner of many Monte-Carlo rallies?

So for the 918 Spyder subscriber crowd-funding project - If you were to drive out and give every paying subscriber a 15 minute ride, and figuring an average of half an hour of driving to and from their location, that's over 39,000 hours of your time, or almost 20 years of full-time working hours. That's quite a commitment!

Stick a GT3 double wishbones on the front of the Turbo S instead of the McPherson Struts and would transform and a decent exhaust and the Turbo S would be the ultimate 911 IMO

and here i am seriously considering buying a 2024 nissan gtr which is more or less a 16 year old car. lol. it is really a simple thing... it is like buying a brand new classic car. there are lots of older cars i would love to buy factory new today. (all my friend think i am nuts) :D

Alpina's tend to be the fast luxury versions of the M cars..............and tend to trade on the IF YK YK vibe...........will be interesting IF BMW make a Horlicks of it

I like the idea of a Chanel supercar that could be raffled off at the end to the people who each bought a ticket! Could be achievable if you do something like a 458? Modern classic kind of thing and you wouldn’t need so many people to donate! Especially if it’s a car Tony may be able to pick up ‘in the trade’.

Would you consider mentioning the introduction of the ULEZ zone to outer London? There has been a lot of raising concerns to businesses and the impact its going to have on the economy. I think that it would be an interesting topic as well as it posing lots of threats to motorists - maybe even talking about how its a tax on the poor and that type of thing. As well as how it could impact Tony

all the people in the live chat saying they wouldn’t buy an Aventador are just saying that because of what Sam and Tony have said. Doubt any of them (in live chat) have even driven one. I’m not dumb enough to think I wouldn’t think it is amazing if I ever got behind the wheel of one.

In Germany I see maybe one Alpina per year and I live in Stuttgart and often visit family in Munich. In my opinion, if there is a regular M car of the specific car, they are pointless.

Another German here. Alpinas seem extremely rare. But I don't think they're pointless compared to the M cars, because Alpinas are more of GT cars. They're more Autobahn and less track than the M cars...
