There is definitely an adjustment period going from digital to traditional where you have to kinda relearn to be more careful and intentional with your lines! I always feel so clumsy at first every time I return to traditional 😆 CONGRATS ON THE NEW CHANNEL!!! So exciting!!! 🎉

I had a very similar revelation about how being so adjusted to digital art affected the intention of my lines and I’ve been loving getting back into traditional art after that!! This is so fun, congrats on the launch guys! Can’t wait to see more!

protip for getting over sketchbook hesitation! open it up and cover the first page with a huge disaster scribble piece, make it terrible on purpose! and now that you've gotten the bar set real nice and low it'll be easier to draw in your new sketchbook going forward

I would love to see some art challenges (sharpie only, three colours only, 1min 10min 30min, using untraditional mediums like coffee, ect). I remember binge watching so many as a kid 😢

As a filmmaker, I gotta say Daidus you did a great job with this set up! Flex Mats pointed from the ceiling and 2 LED panels on the desk was a smart way to light what looks to be a small room. I laughed out loud when I saw you put the camera on monopod clamped to a desk I figured you just used another C-Stand lol. So your hours of KZfaq research and thousands of dollars were not in vain my friend! It looks and sounds great. Keep up the camera learning so we can get some outdoor drawing videos someday :)

I think it would be cool to have guest episodes of either English speaking artists visiting Japan and/or artists living in Japan. I am sure there are a lot of artists in Japan and potential for weebs interested in art and/or artist fans who wants to know the artist's route to Japan and how they got in the industry. Since both Daidus and Emily are artists, the interview-esque drawing session would be more able to dive deeper and can relate more on the artistic journey. Love this channel concept! Looking forward to more episodes.

There’s something so inspiring and comforting about this channel. Watching you guys try new things, make mistakes and accept them, and encouraging each other that’s it’s okay to be bad at something at the beginning makes me feel excited myself as someone who’s just starting to get into art and playing around with crafts. I’m excited to see how you both grow as artists and how your arts evolve.

It's cool to see just how much Daidus wants to talk and learn about traditional art. Really makes you feel how refreshing a change-up can be, even with the year of prepwork.

I am loving how open Daidus has been about his burn out. I’ve felt similar. Now to fall back in love with art after a long time of burn out. Seeing a traditional art channel is so nice especially in the whole KZfaq short form and AI rush. I know I appreciate it so much along with many others.

You can fix ink mistakes in several ways. To minimize eraser damage and paper tear, use a softer eraser or moldable eraser. Expensive isn’t always the best supply. I fooled experts with Crayola color pencils and printer paper. I hope everyone has a lot of fun with traditional art. Remember: you learn more from your mistakes than you do from your successes. Enjoy the process!

Daidus's sketching is so detailed because it reminds me of old school shounen manga and anime. He leaves in the line hatchings from the pencil and doesn't overlap them with ink. That appeals to me very much! Epic job, guys!

I’m only a minute in and I am IN LOVE with the setup!! Vibes are *chef’s kiss* IMMACULATE. I can imagine myself doing challenges in different mediums with you guys (exploring watercoloring, pen vs pencil, etc,.) or just art challenges in general :) Even if i’m not drawing along, I can imagine myself watching and listening to this amazing podcast and art hybrid! This whole project is so exciting !!! Daidus and Emily’s channels were all I would watch before Covid and lately I have been feeling so nostalgic of this whole KZfaq time of my life and so this project made me extremely happy and excited. Also I’m an (burnt out) animation student in my last year, rushing to finish our student film, and I cannot draw outside of school anymore, I used to love it but I’m so burnt out I haven’t touched a pencil and paper in maybe 2 years. Seeing this makes me motivated to start drawing with traditional media again. Thank you so much, hope you get enjoyment from this 🥰❤️

Loved this, it was really funny to watch and interesting to hear the thought process behind everything. But, one thing I would like to see when you next do something with sketches like you did here - look into some way of upping the contrast on them, especially Emilys fainter lines can be hard to make out at times depending on the screen and lighting

I’m a senior in high school and I plan on majoring in fine arts. A lot of struggles you guys mentioned in this video like trying new mediums, difference between digital and traditional art, not having your own style, and speed are all things I’m trying to navigate too. But you guys are (what I would call) successful and are doing something you enjoy despite having problems which is really inspiring and makes me hopeful for my future

These two are actually so precious. I really relate with Daidus because I have drawn for the last 5years like constantly without a break so of course I improved faster but then I reach that stump which led me to getting burn out for a year now, but after watching videos in this channel I actually found the motivation that I needed and I actually found myself looking at my old art and picking up my pencil. Overall, I just want to say that I'm very thankful to the both of you and I love your guys' art!!
