Hey Gary and Brooke, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos and I’m gonna have to admit I went back to your very first videos when you obtain your boat and everything and I kind of binge watch not all but most of them I really enjoy you guys you guys guys are a lot of fun and entertaining You offer great descriptions everywhere you go and you just seem like all-around really good people. I’d love to have a beer or two with you guys sometime but I really wanted to tell you congratulations a huge congratulations on finishing all the work in Puerto Penasco, I know the area down there quite well as I lived in Phoenix for about 25 years and over that time we used to go camping on the beach over at the reef at least 20 times a year it’s so much fun down there. The food is awesome. The people are awesome but to see all the hard work that you guys did. Congratulations I’m really proud of you. You guys busted your butts and made it happen took longer than you expected, but hey, it is what it is. Looking forward to your new And upcoming videos in the future and who knows maybe someday our paths will cross again I’d love to have a couple beers with you guys and share some laughs and certainly some war stories, but I truly wish you all the best Fairwinds, and following seas in the future again, congratulations on all the hard work

Hi Steven! Wow, thank you so much! We really appreciate your kind words and support. It's a pretty cool thing to look back and see how far we've come as individuals, as a couple, as sailors and boat project DIYers. Thanks for coming along as we figure it all out! Hopefully one day our paths will cross and we can enjoy a sundowner and a couple stories together. We are really looking forward to sharing this next chapter with everyone. Cheers!

It's so weird being out of sync with real time... I'm feeling super excited for you both, but I know you've already made the passage, no worries though, I'll just use that excitement knowing we're all going to get to see you in the water and crossing the Pacific VERY soon... I imagine you've bumped into Parlay since the crossing, I was really impressed by their new inflatable bumpers, deflated they all fit in one bag for storage, a huge space saver, although you've already made the passage, so space probably isn't as crucial as it was for the passage, but who owns a boat and doesn't always need more space... I'm thinking it would be a game changer for Bill & Grace before they cross next season... The Parlay crew was using a hand pump and filling them with air just as fast or faster than their compressor...

Two smaller boats which were both either in Fiji and ready to go to New Zealand, (one might have had this happen on the way, one definitely had it happen before she left ) ended up with damaged engines because of salt damage from salt water and the exhaust pipe problems. One , the gal, lost her engine completely and had to replace it. Its a real problem area and if your engine can't be run because of that loss of the exhaust it can be really hard to keep the salt water out of the engine. So, replacing it BEFORE it craps out is a TERRIFIC idea ! WOW, that rudder job really LOOKED good, I'm really surprised it is fighting you.

OK, Randy here, retired Navy, spent time in Puget Sound on my Catalina 30. There's a great boat yard in Port Townsend WA where I spent several months working on my Catalina on the dry. Your videos bring back good memories. I started over on your first episode and was at #28 but, saw this one.......had to watch now. What a life you now have ! Great ! I can only say Wow !

I could see the excitement in your eyes and hear it in your voices. It must be such a relief to finally get to the point of splashing. I'll bet that the results of alll the refits, repairs and updates won't have sunk in yet. Once you're floating and any minor issues taken care of you'll finally sit backand go "WHOA" look what we did.!!! Then the first time you set sail it will be thrilling.

Excellent job routing that exhaust hose! As an engineer, I commend the added chafe protection and supports. Wire harnesses will benefit from similar added supports rather just letting them lay on floors or flop in cabinets. One suggestion is replacing the low-cost cable ties used with higher quality parts made for higher temperature. The chemicals used in formulating those cheap ties turns brittle quickly especially at elevated temperatures or when exposed to UV. Besides, why ruin such good work with junk? There’s no rush. These parts should be readily available in Australia or New Zealand when you reach those destinations
@SailingOneLife
@SailingOneLife Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I was pretty proud of that installation. As far as the low-cost cable ties, I've had good luck with them installed inside the boat and away from UV. The ones outside securing solar or Starlink wires sure do degrade and break in about 12 months. Either way, I stay away from the ones with little metal tabs for engaging the ribs as they rust and fail quickly. I find that I end up cutting cable ties to add a wire or replace a connector so frequently that I prefer to stock the cheap ones. We'll see how they hold up over the next year and like you said, I can grab the good ones in NZ when we get there! Cheers! 👍
