On the first day we head out for a nice spin to get used to the altitude here, and immediately go over 3000m high, the highest we've ever been!

Tips for letras?, the most important thing from the very beginning is to keep on mind those last 20 km because they are by far the hardest, also keep close attention to your eating and hydration, because the climb do have a lot of downhills within the climb and u might think that waiting until those little rests it’s the appropriate time to eat, but trust me don’t do that, eat every "x" minutes, otherwise, you will end up bonking and with most of the food in your pockets by the last 30 km or so, haha. if you want to get a good feeling of what is like the climb, close to Bogota, try to do Villeta - Alto Vino, if u can do that, u will climb letras no problem.

If you want a huge meal in Antioquia, ask for "Bandeja Paisa" And while you are in Bogota, ask for a soup called "ajiaco", it's very traditional and taste great.

Those sweets you took with the coffee are made from 2 kinds of guava, white at the edges and red in the center. Good vitamin C and calories for your high altitude ride.

Those snacks on minute 3:00 are called "bocadillos" and they are made out of "Guayaba" they are super good for cycling, you can also throw the package out because it is plantane leaf so it's biodegradable.

you can get these lucho dillitos here in europe. theyre amazing as a ride snack, its guarana (so energy), sugar and packaged in a leaf so no trash

Unfortunately the brand available in the UK & Europe now includes preservatives. They didn't used to and they don't in Colombia. Bike shops whined and wanted longer shelf life. I stopped buying them.

So nice you guys are here, please don't miss out on going to warm weather, it's one of the nicest perks in Bogotá. On the other hand, it's kind of bothersome that the distributor suggested riding with an escort when in reality the majority of cyclists in Bogotá don't require one, the main routes are safe.

Wouldn't recommend riding with cameras tied on your back. A lot of spine injuries come from minor crashes, all you need to do is to land on your back while the camera between your spine and the tarmac.
