Story has always been an interesting metaphor for life..we wake up, go through our daily routines etc. She goes from bitching about her day and how expensive energy drinks are and trying to decide between a Starburst and a Twix to saying “i dont wanna die today, i have so much more to live for”. From mundane to life / death in an instant. Its awesome, its creative and its powerful. Don’t take life for granted!

The thing that gets me in this story is that everything was built upon a series of choices. She had tons of opportunities to live her life differently: to wake up and get productive right away, to have had her tank filled up from the day prior, to have not needed cigarettes, to not waste her money on energy drinks and snacks, etc,. But ultimately her biggest choice was to not give in to mediocrity and to enjoy her life, since any day can be her last. This is all of us, truly.

Guys look at the details of the entire song. It's literally telling just that... a story. He was showing a different side of him. Kyle I thought you would of enjoyed it more as for your love of videos. Eric I thought you would of realized that it all didn't have to rap although you caught the bars. Couldn't wait for this reaction. While you were watching your reactions were great but I think you missed recognizing his ability to not just sing, rap but also stepping outside the box and getting into his film making. Reason why we couldn't wait for you to see it and specifically said react to the music video. Your reaction after the video was disappointing but at the same time your entitled to your opinions. Can't wait to see more NF. Keep it coming guys. Your one of my favorite reaction channels. Most of the songs you missed from NF don't have videos but lyrics, more your style. Alright guys we need Layers and Trust ft.Tech9. Eric do yourself a favor and don't pause during Trust. You will thank me later🤣

I saw this video within the first hour he dropped it, and I STILL TO THIS DAY have this scenario/video in my head every time I go in a convenience store, especially at night. I've felt like her so many times where I'm just stuck in my own head so badly that life is happening around me without my awareness. I think the main point of this video is that we shouldn't get so caught up in the little things in life that we think are SO HUGE at the time, because in the blink of an eye our life could be taken from us. It kind of resembles the sentiment in his song Wake Up.
@NowaboMusic
@NowaboMusic Жыл бұрын
I love what you said about her "still waking up." I think that's exactly it. She's going through her morning on autopilot, and the one time when she questions her own routine "Starburst or Twix" she picks her normal Starburst. It's not until the robbery when she realizes how much purpose and meaning her life and her choices have. She finally wakes up.

Eric nailed it when he said it's just a normal day and then it takes a hard right turn. That is life....that is what he is saying. That any moment on any day could be your last and it speaks to the importance and value of embracing every day. I think it does fit with his whole thing which is overcoming our own mess and struggle to embrace life.

I think the meaning behind this story is this. No matter how negative you are no matter where you are in life EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE IN A SECOND so there is no need to dwell on the things that make you unhappy and be grateful for life itself. Notice at the beginning the chick is in a very “bad place” but when she realizes the dark situation, she is more ready to live. Looking forward to life a lot more when she was about to die

I think y’all misconstrued the concept that it “closed” the arc of stories or music videos. And a few other comments we’ve made. It was a new pinnacle for us a fans. I truly believe the moral of the story is that the things we don’t need but we cherish them. The poisons we put into are bodies that will always cause harm in the end. If she never went in the store for the cigarettes then she never would have grabbed the candy or the energy drink. All of them are poisonous to your body and mind. Maybe I’m looking into it to much but we all know NF is very deep and very transparent. Again just my opinion. Great reaction and hope everyone has a great day. God bless

I think if you consider this as a standalone piece of art, rather than a pop song, it changes how you experience it. It was never pegged as part of ‘The Journey’ and there’s a reason this record was labelled as a mixtape rather than as an album. Plus the guy gets shots fired at him all the time for staying on the same path, so it’s great that he’s showing some other sides to his work.

a really important part of story-telling is letting the consumer use their own imagination to fill in the blanks which is very clever because its a whole other level of engagement, that of course and the use of cliff-hangers is an effective method of writing, personally I think he nailed his showcase of his technical ability of his pen game, he shows us he can write about anything and make it good, whether its the mundane activities of the choice between twix or starburst and cost of energy drinks to a blood rushing horrible fictional incident and his ability to captivate his audience and really get them sucked in and able to care about these characters while dropping clues about other characters to help us figure it out in the climax of the experience and to be able to condense that in to a 5 minute music video and have it be considered an experience really shows true mastery in his art driven craft is just truly incredible. keep up the great reactions

To me the song is kind of like, when you wake up thinking you’re going to have a bad day - you manifest it. Maybe not to this extreme, but the truth is there. When you wake up in a positive mood and you’re going to have a good day, you’re more than likely to have one. Kind of like his lyric, “if you wake up and think you’ll never be great, you’ll never be great”.

In this song, Nf wanted to try his taie on a storyteller track. And him and his producer put this together. Also NF was the robber and you can tell the different tones in the lyrics, low, depressed sounding from the women, and upbeat strung out from the guy. And that was part of what his mixtape is for him to try different things.

The reason why this feels so different , almost out of place, and random is because it is. Clouds the mixtape was a project he put together to contradict all of the negative comments by critics over the years... "He is a one trick pony, he's just an emo rapper." -Clouds "He's not a story teller."-Story "He only has one cadance."-Layers "He can't get big name lyricists to feature on a track."-Lost & -Trust And so on and so forth... He literally put the mixtape together just to prove to critics, and the industry, that he is very capable of doing all of these other aspects of the genre, he simply chooses not to. He found a lane that not too many other artists can drive in, and he's coasting with little traffic in it. He just wanted to prove that he could switch lanes, and blend in with the daily commuters, but what for when he's basically got a private lane.

This was the exact reaction I had the first time I watched this. Had to watch it a couple times over a few days to really process what I just witnessed

I think you guys were fresh off the NF journey when you watched this one. It would be confusing coming into this at that point. The journey were songs linked together by fans and this is just a stationary piece of art . It stands alone. Hopefully by now you’ve gone back through and heard the rest of his discography and realized he also does songs that are just for the pleasure of putting them out to the fans. Some of The Clouds mixtape songs could conceivably be wound into the tapestry of the journey but as he said, covid hit and he got tired of sitting on some songs and put them on a mixtape. Every song is 🔥

I couldn’t wait for u guys to do this one. It was great watching ur reactions throughout, but I feel u didn’t enjoy it as much as I was for sure u would. It’s a great insight to how every small decision flows into other decisions that we aren’t always prepared for. We literally said my daughter down and went through the song as an example of how we are the girl cowering and watching as she starts making decisions that we cannot control. It’s not always a candy bar decision. Or a gas station decision. But how one can roll into another and u end up in a bad spot

The clouds mixtape stands alone. The tracks are the one’s he didn’t want to put in his next album. The journey ended after the search.

I fell like at the time NF was scrutinized for his raps and they said you cant tell a story, so for true NF fashion he was like bet. here is a story lol

I like to think of this song as two sides of the same story. Both the robber and the girl when in wanting cigarettes, but he was holding a gun and she was scared for her life. Both the boyfriend and the girl woke up in the same house, but she works and pays bills, and he was living there rent free. They were all shooting, but the only ones confirmed dead were the robbers. Both the girl and the boyfriend were having a bad day.

I've never seen a musical artist narrate 4 character's in a music video. NF is a genius.
