Not sure why but I loved this frank video. A little navigation, a little culture, a little homelife and just the right length! 😊 I thought you might hang around Brazil more after spending 14 days at sea, but I guess you have a schedule to keep. And I agree ... too much body-shaming in Canada (and other parts of the world too). Be safe.❤❤❤

We passed through Fernando in February 2021. Brazil was in covid lockdown so we couldn't go ashore. We arrived at 6am, reprovisioned and set off at 6pm for Grenada. So thanks for the on shore video! It looks like a beautiful Island. I'm told Fernando de Noronha has some of the best diving in the Atlantic.

Growing up on an island in Florida as a chunky girl I learned to thumb my nose at skinny fashions because I just didn't fit into a size zero. I got teased until I put my foot down and told all the skinny click girls exactly what the boys were really saying behind their backs, then they shut up and never bothered me about my weight. In fact a few of the super skinny girls gained weight to finally be healthy but there were a couple holdouts that stuck to the super skinny lifestyle. Those ladies are no longer with us at out class reunions and I truly miss them. Being slightly overweight isn't healthy as you age but it's where I've been my entire life and I've learned that you don't need to sweat the small stuff but do keep to a healthy lifestyle if you are a bit bigger than most. Biking is my jam and I used to go places, take a really weird photo and play guess where I am on Facebook. Only a few ever played but it was fun to stump them. Happy sailing and may the fair weather be your guide on your voyage.

You are so right Ashley, and it goes even deeper than that! Our culture here in Canada teaches us to feel judged and ashamed regardless of whether we even have the "perfect body"...sometimes even worst when it changes as we age. The psychological feelings of imperfection and never being able to reach and meet that level of perfection...is a super warped, fucked up , crazy way of looking at ourselves as women! I do it terribly both when I was young and now middle age...and it's not even an image of women's idea of perfection really...it's all male created and unattainable intentionally! So we forget about what really matters and keep focused on the things that don't!! And we buy into it collectively ourselves and against each other. No even consciously...it's just so ingrained through Hollywood, media, advertising and now ourselves. I'm glad I got to hear a different perspective and way of life...I've never heard or seen that myself, we are taught to always hide the imperfections!

About an aluminum cat. 30 years ago, I was in Playboy boatyard in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and saw an 85 foot long Whitbread round the world sailboat deep fin keel, ect. As I walked closer, my stomach started turning as it had swiss cheese electrolisis below the waterline. A multi millionaire was un able to prevent! I said, if I ever owned an aluminum boat, I would do to it what I did to the wooden boat I bought for my brother. Only needing 6 to 8 alternating layers of woven fiberglass and chopped strand matt. to about a foot above the waterline. instead of neumatic driven stapples at two layers, second still wet and stainless screws at half the layers, I would drill 1/8 inch holes and dip the stainless pop rivets in 3M 5200 all over for physical attachment and not to have a fiberglass hull separate from a wooden or aluminum hull. metal not setting in the battery electrolite salt ocean was no problem. fiberglass and resin inside the hull, fewer layers would be nice, just chopped matt for sealing, woven does not seal well enough. A performance cat, ie Jupiter, Mumby 48 is for sailing in little wind, not for the scary high winds for cruisers.
