Martin Luther King was too good for this world, and angel among men
@truth29724 жыл бұрын
He wasn't an angel. Just a man that decided to take a stand. What was so great about him is that he knew that in order to move others to take action someone had to be willing to take the first blows so he put himself our front as the target to give others the courage to stand.

He was a man of God. Not only a man of God. He wanted to change things peacefully with our violence. So for those saying rioting and looting is justified and while things aren’t where we need them to be but we’ve made much progress through time, I believe it’s not bad enough for us to lose our souls and minds and riot and loot destroying our communities and businesses that provide for us.

I am a retired elementary teacher--please school districts, we MUST teach our students this precious history--all US history needs to be taught--including Black History (which is really just part of all American history!) Martin Luther King really inspired me, because he was believed in standing up peacefully and in love, which is also what Jesus taught. We are ALL brothers and sisters! John 13 - A new commandment I give you (Jesus speaking), to love one another. By this shall all men (and women) know you are my disciiples, if you have love one to another.

This is one of the most powerful speeches I have ever heard. There aren't enough people who appreciate just how hard fought the battle for the acknowledgement that everyone has basic human rights has been. We need to stand together against hate and spread the love.

Dr. King would be proud of America. Yesterday the American people stood up and came together as one. We showed the entire world that we, as a country, have grown up. We have kicked aside the racial road blocks, we broke through those barriers and cut through those chains. We have a renewed faith in our country. We proved to the world that, in America, ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL. We made an African American man with a middle eastern name our president and I am proud to have been a part of it!

On this post-election morning, I am full of dread for the suffering that will be imposed on those less fortunate and the continued damning effects of austerity in the UK. The continued destruction of essential front line services, like the ongoing privatisation of the NHS, the fire service, welfare support. We have to brush ourselves off and live to fight another day. In the words of Martin Luther King "We shall overcome, I do believe".

The greatest heartache was many African-American men that were drafted by the Army to fight on the frontlines of Vietnam. Plucked from their poor families to fight for a nation in that they were 2nd class citizens-especially in the South.

Kai Fahrlender Watching this one 2020 I’d have to respectfully disagree with you in that BLM incites more hate. And though MLK was peaceful during his lifetime, his work didn’t end when he was murdered. Protests and riots broke out for months after Kong’s death and only THEN did some form of change finally happen. Peacefully protesting costed black people one of the greatest leaders of the civil rights movements. We shall overcome, but peacefully protesting is no longer working.
