We Still Feel the Impact of Racial Covenants and Redlining Today

Redlining became illegal in 1968. Even so, Minnesota has the highest racial disparity in the country when it comes to home ownership: 75% of white families own a home, while only 25% black families own a home. Mapping Prejudice has found links between racially-covenanted houses and home prices, as well as neighborhood make-up and home ownership rates.

Very educational. I didn't learn about this in school (30+ years ago). I liked the small segment about how some groups were able to rise above the injustice. Inspirational. Any kind of law that discriminates for or against a race will ultimately have repercussions. They are unavoidable. I'm afraid we have yet to feel the full impact of the consequences of these laws. I think it could be effectively argued that the absence of these laws would have created a far, far more stable and equitable society. What we have today is certainly, though partially, a consequence of bad laws. It will take decades, and perhaps lifetimes to recover.

Could the higher numbers of dual income households that whites have contribute to the higher rates of homeownership? Or can it be simplified as pure racism.

the word Caucasian is the race from the Caucasus Mountains, a mountain range at the intersection of Asia and Europe. Stretching between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, they are surrounded by the Caucasus region.. interesting
