We tried Forest Holidays - Is it worth it?

Join us for a week in a woodland lodge at Forest Holidays in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire.
We stayed in our cabin from Monday to Friday in February. The cabin was really spacious and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you would need. We had a real mixture of weather conditions through our week from sunny days to rain, wind and even snow. The snow especially made for an interesting experience in the hot tub!
There is a full price breakdown of all of the charges and costs for insurance, taking a dog or pet along as well as the Wi-Fi and TV entertainment package at the end of the video. This was our fourth time staying at Forest holidays and though it is quite expensive, we always enjoy our time there. Even though you are only a couple of miles away from the nearest town, it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by deer, wild animals, and the sounds of the forest, it really makes for a relaxing time.

I think it’s a tad bit too expensive, I’d get bored for a whole week to be honest, just round the corner from there is Sherwood pines camping, I often go there to test out new tents & gear, I think we paid £15 a night, excellent facilities, showers, toilets, dog wash, drying rooms, exceptionally clean. Full access to the same walks in the forest. Can’t go wrong for that price.

The rubber pads on the poles are for grass fires where you hit the fire with the rubber pad and keep on doing that.

Glad you had a nice time. Sometimes them places that have all the electric connected to the card, you can shove any old card in and it keeps it on. A Jolly hack I learnt using an old membership card.

Loved this, I've wanted to go on one of those forest holidays for years, it looks amazing but so cheeky charging for WiFi when even campsites offer it free!

Quite expensive that. I've got a cabin booked for the end of March in the Lake District, near Ullswater, Monday to Friday for £325 including one dog

I remember going to Keldy quite regularly around 25 years ago when the cabins were more rustic and a lot more reasonable in price. No hot tubs etc but always enjoyed going.

I live and work very close to sherwood pines. It's a great place to visit and has plenty to do locally. I thought it was I bit pricey though for February. Glad you enjoyed the best of Nottinghamshire, it a great place to live I guess with plenty of wild camping spots on the doorstep. Keep safe, cheers.

We stayed in the same type of lodge at the Forest of Dean park a couple of years ago. We were pretty impressed. There were four of us, a baby and two dogs. We stayed for five days and had great time. Would definitely go again.

Wow, expensive. As a kid in the seventies we had holidays sailing on the Norfolk Broads because we couldn't afford to go abroad, now you can spend a month in Spain for the cost of a Broads holiday. Covid "Staycations" seem to have made UK holiday sites think ""let's ramp the price up". It did look very nice, but not for me.

If you can get a second key from reception, you can leave the electrics on while you're out (hint was suggested by someone who once had a really cold room at a Premier Inn and wanted to leave the heating on)

That's a big tent ...no wonder the Mrs went camping 😉. Round about the 5:40 mark, Ruby got copped in the mirror trying out her bed 😆...well they did say 'dog friendly ' ! Ah, you're brave up North coping with snow...did Mary run off with your shorts when you were in the hot tub Ben? I noticed a marked reluctance to step out of the tub when she was filming 😁. Glad you had a great time...I thought your cabin was very swish, so £500+ isn't bad.

Good way to keep the electric on is to use a card from your wallet (can be a your Go Outdoors loyalty card!) I've used it in hotels to keep the AC on when I've popped out!

Ironically, the last time I was in Sherwood Forest was back in the 70s, November and was camping with the RAF (basic training out of RAF Swinderby). No posh cabins then! 8 man tent and a night roughing it in a two man Bivvy of branches and leaves, some map reading, getting lost and dodgy toileting. It was the first grown up introduction to proper camping, 🏕️ pretty wild back then. Would definitely have preferred a lodge. Thanks for the update. Great video. Cheers 👍🏻

Also did Denmark with the RAF under canvas which gave me the bug. Then did Denmark, Norway and Sweden backpacking & bikepacking three times after demob. With equipment that was ridiculously heavy. How things have changed 😀 which is why I’m grateful to your Channel for ideas, tents, equipment etc. Tried loads of stuff you’ve shown and girded loins and bought of EBay, Amazon and Temu. Good fun hunting down items. Thank you. Keep it coming 👍🏻

Ive done loads of forest holidays in the past but personnally i think theyve gone rediculously expensive .not everybody wants a hot tub but you end up paying.my only advice is look around .for me its gone too expebsive if you are a small party and price fir dogs is rediculous.😢😢

A family of 4 is a cheaper way to do it. You pay for the cabin, not per person, and the cabins are set up to sleep 4 minimum. Going as a couple is actually a very expensive way to do it.

No I don’t believe so. If you fill the cabin it’s not too bad. They do them up to 10/12 people.

Stayed at Forest Holidays at Deerpark down in Cornwall. Lovely lodge but rubbish left behind, fridge switched off and other issues caused by the company being owned by our greedy government
