You must stop at these stunning caves if you visit Vancouver Island. We continue our adventure through the northern half of the island and make our way west towards the Pacific Coast. Along the way we made a couple of stops and some amazing locations!

Cave explorations?? Oh les see.. well I have completed Carlsbads Cavern National Park in New Mexico! That’s the cave of the caves! Probably one of the biggest caves on the planet!

Love watching your guys’ videos, I remember going to Horne lake caves on the island when I was a kid, they were super cool but I remember being terrified in the tight spots of the caves haha

Cool video Casey! Shaun needs to either take a look at your air compressor setup... or consider a tank. This past weekend, I saw a guy using a portable air tank (looked like a diving oxygen tank) instead of a compressor and he aired up so quickly (and silently) that I thought his setup didn’t work. He said he charges the thank at home. I think it was called Power Tank... Anyway, after seeing that first hand, I am very tempted to get it. No power needed and no pump noise. Lightning fast and silent.

Horne Lake Caves on Vancouver Island is an excellent place for caving. There's a couple of caves there open to the public that are quite squeezy with tall vertical channels that put some interesting formations out of the public reach, so they are still preserved. They are unlike Huson caves and Upana caves in that they were not carved out by a creek or river. There is also a gated & locked cave that runs deep, and guided tours are offered to people who are fit enough to explore that one. To see the whole thing, you'll be travelling through the cave system for 1.8 km, involving at least one 30 meter repel down "the rain barrel."

1:02 (you asked, and I am here to give you the facts) There are about 1 050 known caves on Vancouver Island. Most of these caves are found in the Quatsino Formation limestone deposits of Northern Vancouver Island. 2:14 2ºC (35.6ºF) as we are in Canada, and use the Metric System. Most of our trees are evergreen trees (pine, Cedar, etc), also Vancouver Island is home to one of the wettest places in north America, Henderson Lake. We on average get more rain, than most of Washington State.
