David grew up in the burbs of Chicago, he discovered he could sing his senior year of HS. He spent his senior year and about a year following graduation teaching himself music and writing songs, he got with a vocal coach to learn some techniques and he started dropping songs on Tik-Tok, after he gained some success there he moved to LA to continue his music. In an interview David said he became a devout Christian as a teenager. He said he wrote "Daylight" while in the studio working on another song, he said there was so much temptation around him and it was getting to him, the fight between being faithful and giving in to temptation, so he wrote the song to deal with these themes. For the record he's only 23yo and discovered his musical abilities a mere 5 years ago.

Next time do your research before you comment.

@@makaylal769 I have done my research sweetie, David has said repeatedly that this song has no biblical inspiration. So honey, YOU do do your own research. A cursory watch of any interview with David about this song bears out my statements as factual. Now sit down and shush kid.

Romans 7, verse 19 fits perfectly with the main part in the chorus "oh I love it and I hate it at the same time" He said he wrote it about Romans 7. All of David's lyrics fits in with what we as Christians do and struggle with, yes the song can be interpreted in many ways, but the way he wrote it was through biblical inspiration. I've watched and read many interviews and he does say it's biblically inspired. Actually, if you look up the video "The Struggle of a Christian Giving in to Sin - David Kushner Reaction - Daylight" you will see that David Kushner's KZfaq profile commented, where he says he wrote it about Romans 7.

~When he was walking through the church he was going to the altar to repent for his sin ~When he walked out of the church and darkness was coming that's (sin, temptation) approaching and testing him. It's written in God's word: When you want to do right there's sin crouching at your door. ~ When he was getting dragged and stoned that was demons torturing him because he switched, confessed and repented and they were mad about it... ~ The man on fire he shook hands with was not the devil it was a symbol of God's spirit purging him from all his sins.... ~Drinking from the same vine is basically we all commit the same sin are tempted the same way from the same enemy (Devil) : It's written All have sin and come short of the glory of God! Our flesh loves to sin, darkness, and wrongdoing... The part of us that hates sin... is our spirit man especially after you become saved because you feel convicted by the Holy Spirit. The spirit and flesh war within each other daily ... Which is why the Lord said we are to crucify our flesh daily and that our very minds are enemies of God

Wrong! Romans 7 has nothing to do with the song or it's creation. David has said as much during interviews. Why does lying come so easy to christians.
