As someone who has worked in various customer service/cashier jobs over the years, seeing how clueless they were made me chuckle. Dealing with the public and money is definitely an underrated skill and exhausting to boot.

By working in retail, daycares, and and restaurants since I was 15, I can say good customer service takes a lot more hard work and personality than most people realize. We endure so freaking much to help others with what they need, often thankless and for little pay. But when I first volunteered as a janitor for a retirement home, I learned that bringing a little joy to even one person is worth it. I love serving others, hearing their stories, and making wonderful connections. There are regulars at my restaurant that are retired and/or alone, the staff at the restaurant are their only interaction with others. I’ve been able to land opportunities that I never would have without customer service because some of my guests/customers are such lovely people💕I don’t know what my customers/guests might be going through, what I CAN do is my best to serve them and hopefully make their day just a little better.
