A lovely chain pattern from Northern Germany dated to the 8th-11th century. This pattern is a remastered one from Egon Hansen, from his Tablet Weaving book; and Guido Gehlhaar, a tablet weaver with a blog at steinmaus.de.

Tablet Weaving Pattern Generator (TDD):

Yarns:
* Maysville Carpet Warp, which can be found at several different weaving supply places (I often use WEBS at www.yarn.com). It comes in more than 70 colors on an 800 yard spool for about $9, so it can be used in a number of projects and the price is very reasonable.
* 20/2 or 60/2 silk from Eowyn de Weaver on Etsy. Each cone is $30 and comes in 18 different colors. There are also small 100 yard spools that run $5 each and comes in more than 2 dozen colors.
* Pearl cotton, size 8, which can be found is most craft stores in a bunch of colors.
Sewing:
* I use 100% linen from Linen-Store.com in the IL019 weight for my tunics. The quality of their linen is very good, their prices are very reasonable and shipping is fast! Use "ILOVELINEN" in the discount code for an additional 7% off!
Cards:
* 2 1/2" wide (63 mm) made on a 3D printer, a pattern designed by my husband. Free downloadable patterns of other tablets are available on Thingiverse (this one is not my pattern--we are still working the kinks out of the design but these cards are Oseberg reproductions: www.thingiverse.com/thing:180...)
* 3 1/4" cards from Schacht Spindle Company, which run $8 for 25 cards. I love these because they are colored on the edges and they are thin but very durable. Similar cards are made by Lacis but without the colored edges.

I am very new to tablet weaving and am so glad I found your channel this early in my weaving journey. You are clear with your explanations, interesting to listen to, have a lovely sense of humour, and simply delightful to watch at work. This band looks fantastic, and while I am new at this craft, I am going to attempt to make it (when my loom arrives on Monday - 2 sleeps yay!). I went to my very first Medieval Fair last weekend, here in South Australia. It has given me a whole new direction in life, and the SCA members I met there are amazing people, full of great knowledge and very friendly. Happy YT anniversary, albeit 2 years later haha

Happy 1 year anniversary. Love all your patterns and videos. Its watching your vids that got me back into tablet weaving after nearly 20 years and this time I actually understand it. My 2nd jab is tomorrow (sunday) so soon will be fully protected as much as you can be with these things. 1st thing I'm going to when we get fully out of lockdown whatever number this is (uk) is to try and organise a little gathering of the pagan group i'm with. Not seen them for nearly a year and miss them. The weather hasn't been great so the outdoor gathering could be interesting :)

I'm currently in the process of making my own inkle loom based on the sketches you posted on your blog! It seemed a little too big though so I decided to pretend an inch is equal to two centimeters. Now that I'm halfway done, I'm regretting that decision. Good thing I made it out of 'prototype wood' (some sort of pine littered with knots and soft as butter) so I can make design adjustments based on my needs. Anyway, thanks for the great videos and for getting me into tablet weaving!

@@elewysoffinchingefeld3066 I finished my prototype and it's working really well! The pine is holding up surprisingly well and I'm currently weaving the St. Bertille pattern. I'm surprised how much easier and more relaxed weaving with a loom is compared to my attempt at backstrap weaving. The smaller size is not as much of a problem as I thought it would be but the working area is a little cramped for my Schacht cards. I might design one where I have more space while keeping it compact (or a collapsible one 🤔) but for now I'm very happy with it.

Nice pattern, I'll have to try it when I'm done with my present projects. One thing I like doing at the start when I weave a band that is either 1 sided or that I plan to attach to something so you only see one side is to place the tail somewhere in the middle of the band when starting weaving. After pulling it through completely a few times I pull it through halfways and then pull it down in the middle of the band. I find it easier to hide the thread fully when weaving it in that way.

I’ve been fascinated with tablet weaving for years but have never actually tried it myself. Thanks for making these videos as the way you explained the steps makes it seem easy compared to other videos I’ve seen in the past. I do have a couple questions though. 1) What program(s) do you use to layout the design templates and can you demonstrate that process? 2) Years ago I saw a video where a woman used an Inkle loom with heddles and cards to make a wider piece of work. She was able to incorporate a center tablet woven design and on another piece two sections of tablets separated by heddles making matching designs on each side. Can you demonstrate this method? Can’t seem to find the video(s) to reference them to you.

Hello Rodney! The tablet weaving draft designer (TDD) and all the materials I use can be found in the video descriptions. There should also be a video link that demonstrates how to use the program. It's online and free! As for the inkle loom with heddles...I would have to see that video to get a visual of what you're describing...I can't quite picture it in my mind. If you can find it, please let me know.

@@elewysoffinchingefeld3066 Thank you for the response!! I have unfortunately been unable to find the video, but I did find one similar. It was a Video made by Linda Hendrickson in 2016 where she combined Table Weaving with Loom Weaving. Not a long video, but the result was amazing. here is the link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pclheqh9l72ZiGw.html I was able to find a picture what I had saw as far as Tablet Weaving combined with traditional heddles used on the Inkle Loom. It was on a website that is written in what I believe to be French. Although I don't read or speak French I can sort of grasp the concept from the pictures. Hopefully you will be able to make more sense out of it than I and perhaps demonstrate it with an explanation.
