The final installment of the Laurel Kingdom series (for now), celebrating the Kingdom of Avacal! This is my own interpretation of the Birka 2f pattern in 4-hole and skip-hole variations.

Tablet Weaving Pattern Generator (TDD):
* jamesba.github.io/tabletweave/
NEW How to use TDD: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmPy6...
Yarns:
* Maysville Carpet Warp, which can be found at several different weaving supply places (I often use WEBS at www.yarn.com). It comes in more than 70 colors on an 800 yard spool for about $9, so it can be used in a number of projects and the price is very reasonable.
* 20/2 or 60/2 silk from Eowyn de Weaver has recently moved her store from Etsy. Each cone is $30 and comes in 18 different colors. There are also small 100 yard spools that run $5 each and comes in more than 2 dozen colors. New web site! www.eowyndewever.com
* Pearl cotton, size 8, which can be found is most craft stores in a bunch of colors.
Sewing:
* I use 100% linen from Linen-Store.com in the IL019 weight for my tunics. The quality of their linen is very good, their prices are very reasonable and shipping is fast! Use "ILOVELINEN" in the discount code for an additional 7% off!
Cards:
* 2 1/2" wide (63 mm) made on a 3D printer, a pattern designed by my husband. Free downloadable patterns of other tablets are available on Thingiverse (this one is not my pattern--we are still working the kinks out of the design but these cards are Oseberg reproductions: www.thingiverse.com/thing:180...)
* 3 1/4" cards from Schacht Spindle Company, which run $8 for 25 cards. I love these because they are colored on the edges and they are thin but very durable. Similar cards are made by Lacis but without the colored edges.
Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.
All songs performed by Jon Sayles: www.jsayles.com/familypages/Ea.... Besides a Fountain, and Springtime Mantleth Every Bough, both by English composer, Thomas Morley (1557-1602).

Your tablet weaving videos are an absolute joy and as I'm doing my own (and also using it as research for my book 😅) weaving, I'm in such a state of calm! I wish to join the SCA someday, but alas, there is no such thing that I know of here in Mexico! Keep on weaving and creating, Elewys, I hope you are well!!!

When I saw the first shot of the pattern I thought “skip hole” but I actually like the threaded version better than the skip. Going to blog/Pinterest now to have a longer look at finished patterns, thanks so much for all your videos, and the historical content you add sometimes.

The difference between the two is amazing! It looks like a chain run through another chain in the Skip Hole version. Beautiful!

Agree with you. Prefer the 2nd pattern. Feels more balanced. As always, a pleasure to watch and listen to your calming voice. 😊

Thank you for another great video. You slowed the process down and explained it very well which I really appreciate as a new tablet weaver. The historical content you provide is also marvelous. Heading over to re-read Twelve Night.

A really fun thing to do on 12th night is to act out the play with a bunch of friends. After many glasses of wassail, it tends to get a bit hilarious. Traditional munchies are appetizers and desserts.

So interesting to learn about the Christmas habits...♫♪ On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me... ♫♪ ...Also in France there is the habit of making baked goods with a hidded goodie at Christmas-time. It's called "couronne des rois" or "galette des rois" and in ancient times the hidden object was a "feve" (thick bean), nowadays it's a little ceramic Christmas-themed objet and the finder will receive the paper-crown which comes with the gateaux. Frohes Neues Jahr...mögen alle Deine Wünsche in Erfüllung gehen !!! 🙂

That was a lovely video to watch this evening. But I was quite surprised at the difference between the two versions of the same pattern. I'm new to tablet weaving, so I don't know how the skiphole version is done, though hopefully I will get there soon enough. I have to agree with you, Shakespeare's Twelfth Night is a fun play, I especially like the version done by the Globe with Mark Rylance as Olivia. How he managed to just float on the stage was a marvel, as no footwork could be detected at all. Quite different to his portrayal of Thomas Cromwell in Wolf Hall. I will now return to my loom to continue the tablet weaving that I started yesterday, 3 colours, purple, green and white. Looking forward to watch more of your back catalogue of videos, and have a great Twelfth Night celebration/feast. Thank you.

I've noticed in some of your other videos that you have different colored cards, have you thought of using them to mark your borders. I think that might make counting easier for the picks. But they again I've done either all forward or four forward four back patterns with all the cards moving together.
