This engine was locked up solid with dried castor oil residue, and so I overhauled it and painted and polished the various bits.
The piston was okay. I replaced the bearings, the crankshaft key and prop driver, the prop nut, and all bolts with new stainless steel versions. And I hand made the rear cover gasket.
I painted the entire engine, and then after it was cured I scraped the paint off of the fins edges and then polished the edges.
I polished the intake port on the rotary valve. I polished the combustion chamber in the head. I polished the carb body, the carb intake tube, the exhaust header, the muffler, the prop driver, the prop washer, and the belt drive pulley even though it is hidden by the belt cover. I know it's shiny, lol.
This engine did not want to start by hand propping. However, it started instantly when using the electric starter.
Once running, this engine proved to be a sweetheart! She runs great, idles great, has good top end power, and sounds fantastic!

A very unique 4-stroke engine which uses an overhead rotary valve. It uses the same valve for both intake and exhaust. I understand that it was one of the very first commercially available 4-stroke glow engines.

@Elmaridodelaaviadora: Hi, the timing mark on the rotary head belt drive pulley must be at 12 o'clock. On the prop driver, there is also a small tick mark. This must be also at 12 o'clock. You must work the belt on and keep both tick marks at 12 o'clock. These are the only timing marks.

@TejasRCpilot: Thanks! :) I used Dupli-Color engine enamel. I scraped the paint off the fins and polished them after the paint was cured. I sanded the paint off the lettering on the front cover.

I have one of these in perfect condition that I quit using using yeas ago - Now I am putting an old "Ugly Stick" back in service just for kicks...maybe I will put the Webra on it for old time's sake!

Unfortunately for me, my camcorder which has a hard drive in it, had a glitch and deleted most of the video I had already taken. This was the video that showed the tuning of the carb, and some nice slow running, and other stuff. You can see from one scene change to the next, that the fuel tank has been used up by 3/4's. That was when the camcorder failed, and I had to take some more video all over again.

how did you get some of the fins silver and the lettering silver if you spray painted it? what brand of paint did you use? came out niceeee!

Hi, I'm restoring this same engine, when I took the piston out I didn't notice the notch at the bottom of one side of the piston, now I don't know if it's the left side or right? Would the notch be facing the timing belt side? Thanks please reply.
