Looking good, won't be long before you start harvesting. We had a super wet spring with rain almost everyday. Now we are dry as a bone. We where supposed to get rain all weekend and the storms literally just skirted around us. It's been in the upper 90's with some intense sun so a lot of tomatoes started blushing and within two days just rotted on the vine. I'm now picking tomatoes just as they start to blush and let them ripen indoors. Yesterday the temps dropped down to the low 70's but the wind gusts where well over 40mph. What a mess they made of the tops of plants. Spent two hours getting mulch swirled into our faces while trying to tie up plants. It's back to the 90's today and no rain in sight.

Just remember do things in small stages and stay hydrated as much as possible.

I weeded yesterday as well. I quit when I feel my back about 45 minutes that it till evening. It was so nice yesterday. The weeds were calling my name lol

You've got more weeds than plants! The rain must have really made them take off! That's one thing i like about gardening in 5 gallon buckets! No weeds!

Day lilies are completely edible.. as are pumpkin/squash leaves and flowers

Does everyone else have such crazy weeds as Bev? I’m amazed how profuse they are and how quickly they spring back up. I don’t have weeds like that in my garden beds. Is it from living rurally with lots of trees and whatnot around?

I also usually top my beds every year. I didn't this year, but I usually taught them West. Well, rotted cow manure which is usually full of weed seeds.

Oh Bev I hate the weeds too! This year I’m doing container gardening. I just cannot pull weeds like that anymore. My back just cannot handle it. My garden is doing much better this year now that I’m doing the container gardening No weeds lol. Much love and Take care and God Bless 🙏🥰🙏

@@OurHalfAcreHomestead Yes me too. I just find it easier to pick the weeds out of the containers. My hubby made 2 large tables (slated) for the containers to be off the ground. That helped for me not to have to bend down. So fingers crossed. Now the watermelon and the squash I have are in containers but are on top of cardboard with fencing on top of that so no weeds can grow on top of the cardboard. Fingers crossed with this also lol.

🙋🏻‍♀️BEV💁🏻‍♀️I SOOOOOO ADMIRE that you know the difference between the good and the bad...my tomato plants are about the size of yours and we put them in the ground late ~3 weeks ago and they were what ever Lowes had left over 4/$12 and 3/$10...although it is sparse I honestly thought we weren't going to be able to have a garden this year🤷🏻‍♀️

Hey! Found a new zucchini variety at Baker Creek Seeds , vertical!! I’m so excited, having my seeds sent to South America. Those pears look awesome! I used to grow leeks in the USA, I make a mean potato, Leek, ham soup.

My alpine strawberries reseeded themselves everywhere from last year lol. The plants grow in little mounds.

I'm so impressed this year with my garden compared to last year ... However my problem this year is snails ... Do you know a good organic snail killer because I have no idea how to tackle them ... Just today I must have picked 70 snails and squished them ... I do it about ever 3 days ... I love garden tours and I can't wait for harvest and canning because I love your canning videos.

All looks wonderful!! I spent the day weeding also. I actually ordered a " stirrup hoe" from Johnny's Select seeds. I am hoping it helps. I got a small one/ 3 inches so I can easily get between the plants. I can also do my walkways. Supposedly it cuts the weeds at the roots so should make things alot easier. God Bless.

I am so proud of myself for fixing my weedeater! I finally go a line that doesn't snap. I rigged piece of wire from a coathanger on my electric Craftsman weedeater and it works! I can't start the gas one because the cord is too hard to pull. Planning on a good garden this year. My squash still hasn't come in yet. I have gotten some onions. I am in NW Georgia, zone 7A.

P.S. I read that you can cook tomato and squash leaves like regular greens. I haven't tried it yet.

Good job Bev!! How is your garden doing with pests? I have earwigs, slugs, and jap beetles! I refuse to spray anything but diluted white vinegar with a little dawn. I have been putting out the beer for the slugs and have been somewhat successful but there are just soooo many!! Trying so hard but I guess there’s only so much I can do…. Your gardens are doing so well! My poor apple trees are being ravaged by the damn gypsy caterpillars…there isn’t a leaf on any of the 5 trees that haven’t been eaten! Very upset for my poor trees…😢

I saw 4 branches of my apple tree brown as if something had killed them. I hope it's not the gypsy moth
