GUESS WHAT - Weight Watchers did make me an affiliate (finally) but not for the clinic side haha. So I have added to the caption a link for WW app 50% off that is an affiliate link. Not much I know but I tried to get what I could for you all via some platforms! weightwatchers.pxf.io/eKmWnO #affiliate They additionally have a code: RESULTS10 but it is only $10 and I thought you all would likely rather have 50% off a membership. Especially with these *possible* new requirements coming out of having to show 6 months worth of food tracking, nutrition work, trainer work etc. My best advice is to just look over the blog post and view those PBM letters going out to provider offices and start making yourself a folder showing everything you have done and are doing to try and help weight loss (outside of medications). Blog: www.ketosismom.net/my-blog/insurance-and-pbms-changing-the-glp-1-guidelines That way you have a folder ready to go and you do not get flustered if you receive a letter from your PBM in the mail soon! If you currently only have a virtual provider you may also was to start searching for an in person provider before everyone else books everything up. If "in person doctor visit" is going to be the new requirement for a script, get ahead of the curve. And if you decide all of that is too much, I do have the $50 off compounds from Emerge in the caption. Just remember, compounds are only permitted while a drug is IN shortage - per the FDA. Whatever you decide - I hope my Vlog helps you prepare and make the right choice - FOR YOU! As always if you want anything covered please LMK. Someone has already reached out asking to see how the scale and measuring tool works so I will make Joe be my model for this coming up next week! - Jen

A friend of mine who needs to lose over twice the amount of weight than I do had gastric sleeve 12 weeks ago which was the same time I started Zepbound.. She has lost 26# & I have lost 29#. The thing is she had been on Mounjaro for 6 months before surgery to be able to lose enough weight to qualify for surgery (to prove her commitment) but they took her off Mounjaro after surgery & now she is struggling with hunger & poor food choices. She was doing so well on Mounjaro (lost 24 lbs effortlessly in the month before surgery according to her). I really believe these new GLP-1s are game changer.

yes my endocrinologist told me that patients are placed on these drugs leading up to their surgery and then taken off about 2 weeks prior to surgery. and I felt like that was crazy. but just didn't say anything

I has vsg and it did not work for me. Lost some then gained it all back. If I could do it over, I would not have had it because now I have a large hiatal hernia and horrible gastric reflux. I have had much success on Mounjaro and lost 85 lbs.. It is the only way I have been able to get close to my goal weight. I bet that bariatric surgeries will almost be obsolete in a few years. My advice stick with GLP

This unfortunately is what I hear from SO SO SO many people. And I look at the Dr's and say "someone who already battles inflammation, gets sick all the time, and is in pain...you want to go through a surgery?" Which I feel like then they snap to and "get it" 🤔 some do anyway haha some are super old school. My hopes are that they get this approved for SO many indications and additional conditions that I qualify with one or more of the multiple uses. I'm patiently waiting for all these trials to get done haha Bc I have alzheimers in my family as well and my 23 and Me says I'm prone to late onset genetically so if I can just stay on this to NOT get that. Ok! give it to me!

I had an RNYGB in 2001 and regained all 200 lbs I lost + more. I'm on Mounjaro/compounded tirzepatide (so they add up to my prescribed 15mg) and am down 225 lbs. now (weighing 180, where I have been for 6 weeks and that's fine with me!). I've thought about what you said about WLS being obsolete eventually, but it will be a long time before that happens. There are non-responders to the medications we have out now. Eventually, I hope there will be DNA tests that will pinpoint which medications a person will need. It would be then that WLS might vanish. Sadly, I think that will be _many_ years/decades into the future. Would I do the RNY again? In 2001, yes. I did Fen-Phen in 1996. As my username says, "HealthAtAnyCost." I will do anything to stay alive. I know I am blessed to be a super-responder and look forward to seeing the newer meds working for those that these do not. (Oh, and I have had 4 incisional hernias, have to have 6 iron infusions every 4 months because I can't absorb iron, I have osteopenia and am on injected calcium because I can't absorb calcium, inject myself monthly with B12, and take 50,000 iu Vitamin D 4x a week because my body doesn't absorb that either. Would I still do the RNY again? I could not have foreseen the future, so yes I would have.)

My insurance covers bariatric surgery so I had it two years ago, lost 50 pounds and gained 10 nowhere close to my goal weight, been on tirz for 4 months and have lost 25 pounds plus soooo much inflammation that I would also recommend glp1 over surgery
@KetosisMom
@KetosisMom 2 ай бұрын
@Lexiekween Thank you for sharing. Yes I have had what I would call minimal side effects on tirzepatide and going slow (due to the shortage) I'm sure is allowing my body even longer to adapt which is good. I told my Dr's I feel CLEAR headed and less inflammation and overall GREAT on these meds. I said "please don't take me off these lol"

Jen, I just traveled for work 10 hours from the time I left my house until reaching the hotel fridge. I saw a stewardess recommendation using a yeti drink container. I bought a $1.00 liquid freezer pack and put it in the bottom of the yeti, then froze both. When I left in the morning, I put my compounded vial on top of the freezer pack but left the vial in the original box. At TSA, I had to remove everything and they put the box in a separate small bin and passed it to an agent (not scanned). No issues at all with even the freezer pack. I randomly checked the coolness and everything was still very cold upon my arrival (even walking to the rental car place in 95 degree temps). Glad your trip was so awesome!!!!

@MaiseyMoo13 Exactly. When another viewer emailed me this video it was shocking to watch the whole thing. And to see that med spas here were also getting that and using it and patients here were as well blew my mind! here I have talked about poor shipping that is not over night and there is no telling how long that took to arrive or sat etc. I am waiting for there to be a @datelinenbc like that video in AU here in the US. Man it would be INSANE for people to dig into all the options for US citizens

I started Zepbound on Feb 12, 2024. I started on 2.5mg for 4 wks then I went to 5mg. I’m still on 5mg. I’m down 49.6 pounds. I have no started exercising. I’m going to start walking. I have about 50 pounds I’d like to lose. I have Hashimoto thyroid so I totally get the autoimmune disease. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2001. I lost 96lbs and kept it off for a few yrs but eventually gained it all back. I’m constantly fighting with my weight.

this was kind of my expectation and not my reality haha I was 2.5 mg for 4 weeks then 5 mg for 4 weeks and then 2.5 mg since then (even now). I just obtained a box of 5 mg and kind-of concerned I won't be able to obtain it again next time. But my constant back and forth for basically 3 weeks battling the gain from the cosentyx has made it where I'm only losing a small portion each month but, I'm OK with losing it slowly! it's giving my skin and other organs time to adjust! I have had minimal side effects basically since the very beginning when I started so that's great. I read an article today on GB and how patients who have previously had this are going on these drugs anyway even post surgery bc they have began gaining again. I also saw a Dr talking about the deficiencies you can have with Surgery. So I dont want to have any surgery. I think everyone is looking forward to seeing If the weight gain back and forth continues at 5 mg and also 7.5 mg with the cosentyx + zepbound battle with me haha So only time will tell! I saw BCBS did a study that patients are quitting after 1 month and before 5% weight loss on these meds and it appears they're utilizing this study to justify why they're stopping coverage (rme) I posted the article over on the community tab. I'm "new" to YT so I didn't even know this existed until recently haha

@@KetosisMom ya this is terrible that the data is messing us up with this who are quitting I don’t get that I have been successful ever since starting MJ 10 months ago and I’ve been experiencing consistent loss with little jiggles of up and down 1-3 lbs All along the way I definitely have had vitamin deficiencies from my gastric bypass Low in vitamin D, anemia, magnesium, vitamin B and now I have osteopenia But I wasn’t good at taking my vitamins either Now I’m better at it and levels are going up
@KetosisMom
@KetosisMom 2 ай бұрын
@MounjarojourneywithPam Well I read the article on the BCBS study and then I never saw an actual study. I'm going to keep looking to see if it's "published" somewhere. It could just be their new excuse for stopping coverage. also, they should not be doing shortages amidst a shortage lol bc ppl aren't stopping. they can't find it and they are moving to Compounds smh.

Is Sibo why the top of my stomach is bloated all the time? No Gastro doctor ever mentioned it but it’s aggravating me and that is the part of the stomach that concerns me. Do you have any info on Sibo ?
@KetosisMom

You need to ask GI Dr to do the SIBO breath test next time you go in. I also use a Food Marble to blow into when I am testing on what foods I can and cannot have etc I don't use it as much now bc I found the handful of foods I could eat and I've kinda stuck around that. But that's also how I know mushrooms, garlic, onion, lactose etc are big nos for me. If you notice is specifically after foods on the "dont" side of a FodMap lost (Google Fodmap) then maybe. I know there are suddenly lots of ppl in my GI office with this though. refluxuk.com/blog/6-signs-that-youre-suffering-from-sibo/

Then when i went to their website from their KZfaq channel that popped up it said that their site was shut down for malpractice lawsuits (yikes!) so be sure youre not googling "emerge" or looking for it on here. Make sure youre using the link i provide in the blog or caption of videos. I was shocked by this and how they were calling themselves basically the same thing

Yea the Endo told me her hopes are that at 5 mg I won't have so much back and forth with the cosentyx and it will be 1 week of a wash and not multiple. She said unless I go 3 months and do not lose 5 lbs within 3 months she wants me to stay on the 5 mg dose. I know WW Clinic MD said if I don't lose 6% within 1 month (originally) but their tune has drastically changed through this shortage. She is only willing to write whatever is on the fda list as "available"

Do you do or did keto?
@KetosisMom
@KetosisMom 2 ай бұрын
I did keto for YEARS! From 2016 on... I ate Keto and lost 85 lbs. Then when I started my first rounds of autoimmune treatments in 2022 they asked me to stop keto bc they thought THAT was making me gain weight. I went carnivore...still gained weight. went low carb (added in more fruit and veggies) it got worse so they asked me to slowly rotate carbs back in. it got EVEN worse. then they asked me to go Vegan. we discovered I have SIBO and after the constant weight gain, on and off new thyroid meds, metformin, and changing autoimmune treatments it IS my cosentyx that makes me gain. I even gain while on zepbound on cosentyx weeks. I just eat whole foods now. I do not count carbs at all. I crave corn and shrimp all the time now. So NOW with WW Clinic I really only track protein intake + 4 servings or veggies/fruit (that are sibo friendly) and water intake (Hopefully this makes sense!)

The real problem is the actual cost of the drugs. I understand your insurance covers your GLP-1, but my insurance will not cover it for obesity. I’d have to pay full price or the still-cost-prohibitive $550 with coupon. Getting insurance to pay is fine for those with coverage, but it would be better to bring the cost down for everyone! @berniesanders
@KetosisMom
@KetosisMom Ай бұрын
@SchubertFan I've gone over this few times in multiple videos and even the cost for Medicare etc. Mfgs aren't dictating these costs alone. PBMs and Insurance fees overall in the US dictate our drug costs even if the insurance is not covering for you. It's highway robbery at best! I am posting a discount to medfinder today for everyone paying out of pocket, you can ask them to locate it at *sams club* as an example location (could be anywhere around you) that you know your cost is less! during shortages and IF they start covering it for Medicare patients it will go back into shortage, this Medfinder is going to be a blessing to have. They make the calls and locate your prescription for you. I for instance know at one location it costs me a little less so I can ask them to find it at one of those within 30 mins of me. If they do not find it they do not pull from my package I have with them and it's free. medfinder.com/ketosismom and code: ketosismom10 gets you 10% off the multi service packages through Aug 30,2024. I wish I have a service giving better coupons and discounts in overall price for everyone as well! I always put options in my captions with links. About to post today's video in just a few mins - thanks for watching!

@SchubertFan It is needed for sure. You can't compare the US to other countries that insurance and PBMs aren't a "business" and politicians aren't going to go after the people funding their campaigns ;) You will constantly see then calling in these drugs CEOs ... who is calling in the heads of pharmacy benefit managers and heads of insurance companies that are charging the Mfg for access, charging the Corp companies for coverage of their workers, and also charging the patients at the same time? No One. Maybe #markcuban will offer glp1 on cost plus at some point 🫶🙏
