Join me for a delightful weekend in rural Japan, where I invite you to experience the charm of a minka house that was once an Akiya, or vacant house. In the summer of 2022, I purchased this property and embarked on an extensive renovation journey, collaborating with a local Japanese Carpenter who specializes in traditional materials like Shikkui and promotes healthy living through natural materials such as Japanese cedar.
During our weekend adventure, we'll visit the local countryside farmers market, where I'll share insights on growing Japanese mushrooms like shiitake. You'll also get a glimpse of a newly built house by Kayaki-san, our talented carpenter, allowing us to compare modern Japanese architecture with the timeless appeal of our renovated minka.
As I envision retiring in Japan, I'll also give you a sneak peek into our Toyota Hiace camper van, which will be featured in upcoming videos as we explore more of Japan's hidden treasures.

I love Japans Mountain Roads & great how you can leave your keys in your truck! Interesting to watch & listen to the music (though you lost your sound round about the 53:00 mark & also when you were eating pizza) esp with the singing at the end. I noticed they were turning there music from left to right, unlike we who turn right to left. Good video!

Whenever i hear the Koto for some reason i always expect a big brass Gong to be smashed at intervals but it never happens! I have seen too much Chinese Opera! Nice video man and great concert!

Hola! Thanks for watching my videos. We bought it a place call wood stock near Hiroshima. I am pretty sure you could find a business closer to your area. If you want to same money you could also find some on amazon Japan. The chimney part can be just as or more expensive as the stove. Looking forward to seeing the progress on your house! Thanks!
