Great color in this video It's amazing that this isn't done from the factory

You'd think that the Maxxair people would see how a few pennies' worth of protection would save $$ in replacement boards when they fail prematurely (and under warranty) and cause so much grief to owners.....great video!

Thanks so much for this video! This helps a lot!

You can also use plastidip paint, it’s non conductive and waterproof and about $30 cheaper

It is thought that it could have been done at the factory during the manufacture of the fan.

For the price you would think they would have 😂

MaxxAir / AirExel should have done this in the factory but they would rather you buy a new fan after the warranty expires in 2 years. Horrible company.

Worst company with the best design so here we are.

I sent an email to Maxxfan asking if they had improved board coating and -or power issues. They replied-The new board will already come with the coating on them, adding any will void the warranty. Many people who use alternative power sources find it easier to add a voltage regulator to ensure that issues do not arise. Thought your viewers may have an interest....Thanks.

Why do people refer to every PCB as a motherboard? A motherboard by definition is a main circuit board that OTHER boards plug into. Nothing plugs into this board so it is just a common PCB.

Consider any ESD concerns when handling the board? Likely minimal, but possible.

Thanks for the video. I just had a wierd event on my brand new RV, concerning my Maxxfan. I wonder if Maxxfan would deny a warranty when they see conformal Coating on the pcb.

They should be doing it themselves! it’s a known issue for tons of fans!

I have read that some of the Deluxe fans prematurely fail due to current / voltage fluctuations. The remedy seems to be some sort of voltage stabilizer via a Buck module. Do you have any thoughts on this, and/or recommendations ?
@mcbikewild924311 ай бұрын
seems everyone trying this method are having the stabilizers bulge and burn up...im still looking for the fix..lol

You could tape around the housing, just spray, definitely coat it easily without pulling it to bits and taping..

Great Info and detailed Video. Have you dealt with or seen issues with over 12 volts and maybe installing a 12 Voltage regulator? Is it an Issue? Thanks
@RoamOverlandVehiclesАй бұрын
I have heard about it being issues. On one phone call with a tech at maxxair that was the first question they asked. That’s never been an issue we’ve had. But something they look for. The moisture has always been the problem. I hope that helps!

Your provided link is for a Polyurethane version, but the video shows a Acrylic?

Thank you, I switched it out. From what I can tell cure time is the biggest difference. Also repairing a mother board may take different repair techniques.

What was the manufacturing date of the models that were failing? I spoke with Tech Support on the phone at MAXXAIR and they mentioned they were aware of this issue and started adding a coating on the PCB board in 2017 to address this issue.
@RoamOverlandVehicles Жыл бұрын
It was happening all the way up until we paused builds earlier this year. It could be that we had fans with older dates because none of ours had the coating. That’s really cool that they are finally doing it!

You also need to buy a dc-dc 12v regulator to keep that circuit board from frying because its literally the dumbest circuit board ever. The fan needs an exact 12v to work otherwise the board gets fried, and you get the greed dot of death. These fans are designed to go into RV's, and many people use Lithium batteries that have an output of about 14.5v, and it boggles my mind that this dumb fan requires an exact 12v while every single other 12v device can handle a voltage range.

I’ve called and spoke with a technician at maxxair and said they were indeed finicky when it comes to voltage. They had no concerns with the lithium. That being said. I have seen a few mother boards and a few motors go in these

I really hate to give MaxxAir a single dollar. They have what's considered the worst customer service in the RV industry. So easy to become a reputable company. I guess little to no competition can result in this behavior
