Please everyone, we all need to plant milkweed that's native to your area. The Monarchs had the 2nd lowest numbers in Mexico last winter and they're already like 99% depleted. For a natural path I put down black plastic and got free wood chips from ChipDrop. And I also have such small lawn areas that I bought a reel mower but have found that weed eating them is a lot easier.

After doing research I found we have two different gophers. You I believe have pocket gophers and I had the striped gophers. After understanding the difference it’s no wonder my celery leaf/rat trap didn’t work. I seen a KZfaq video about pocket gophers and how to get rid of them. He discussed how to understand the tunnels and piles and how to use traps and smoke. The gophers we had have a different diet and there wasn’t much for them to eat and apparently they loved the celery leaf. Since we got rid of the gophers I have noticed ground nesting bird nests and our gophers would eat the eggs. That could also explain the lack of whippoorwill birds. I can say the whippoorwill and other ground nesters are safe here because if I see a new tunnel-ever-we are on it. Those gophers would have to go if I were gardening there. Think Caddy Shack 😅.

gophers, we call them groundhogs in the Northeast love cantaloupe. Make a trail with little tidbits, cut small. Then put a larger piece in the back of the trap. We caught 5 in my garden last year, 2 this year. Moved the trap to a different area so that the others don't smell the process

I planted 12 bulbs of gladiolas and the chipmunks dug and ate all of them except one.

Your secret cottage garden looks amazing, its a pollinators dream. Our garden is nearly in full bloom we are waiting on our daylilies, calla lilies, echinaceas, rudbeckias, shasta daisies, oriental lilies and crocosmias to bloom but they are close to blooming.

Hi Pam. Another lovely video. Your garden is just beautiful. I think those red poppies look just great there as it pulls out the purple blue and pinks in it’s surroundings like the Nepeta and the foxglove. Your daisies always do so well. Mine always gets attacked by some small bugs that suck on the stems, leaves and even the buds which results in distorted bloom. It is so frustrating. I’m sorry to tell you that I’m thinking of resorting to taking out my antic can of Raid 😢 Looking forward to your next video. Bye!

Pam if you think your’s need some tlc you should see mine.😂 Foxglove is of course also poisonous from its digitalin that alters heart rate thus was used as medication where needed. I’ve seen white ones on my walks and also last one with the huge, rare mutant flower at the tip. Harks back to an early evolutionary stage of the species when all its flowers were like it. Of course I had to KZfaq and have now forgotten the term for the flower. Oh! You’re just showing one in your garden!😃What a coincidence! I love your garden. The best I have is the circle of wildflowers in my front lawn and it’s become pretty fool of ox-eye daisies at least until my seeds take or I transplant some of the thriving camomile from the back garden. I’ve been too busy with hiking/grandkids/poor weather/what-have-you to keep on top of things. I’m pleased my fox-and-cubs and forget-me-nots have done so well. An absent neighbour has envied wild orchids in her deep lawn. It’s good to hear your plans. Not a fan of roses but I’ve seen a neighbours beauty against their white house wall and it’s stunning. No strawberries here yet. My giant poppies are doing well in number of blooms but but a bit pallid and short lasting. Maybe it’s our blasted Scottish weather this year. Thanks for the inspiration. I would like to see how your sceptered isle roses are doing:] also so glad heirloom made it right with you on you Eden rose.. but even then now you are going to have two edens❤ I just ordered the original Eden and am awaiting on its arrival. Thank you for the tour, it's funny how we can grow the same plants here in the UK but our climates are really different. Loved the resident humminbird. We don't have them here.
